Mr. & Mrs.

>> Tuesday, August 15, 2023

Hi Everyone,

At this point, I think this wedding card making thing I have going on is boarding on obsession...lol!

I sat down to make a much-needed birthday card, but I saw this unused Mr. & Mrs. greeting that was already stamped and die cut, sitting in my stack of unused pieces parts. What's one more wedding card, right?

I used a tried-and-true layout and stamped and punched out the Silhouette Bride and Groom for the image and added some soft pink sponging the sentiment.

It's hard to see the Dogwood Branch background, but it was heat embossed using some glittery embossing powder. I tried for a close up, but it looks great in person ;)

After taking this picture, I realized it needed some gems, so I added them and you can see them in the first picture.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dressed Up Thank You For Your Service

>> Wednesday, June 14, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends.

I love the new Thank You for Your Service Greeting.  Today, I was thinking it could work for all kinds of events as well as a more feminine military thank you.  For instance, you could give it to someone who served as an officer in an organization, your pastor, a policeman/policewoman, a mailman/mailwoman, or even your favorite server at your favorite restaurant.

The background was made by painting blobs of color on a paper, spritzing it with water, and then running it through the Big Shot with one of my favorite embossing folders.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Hugz,

Nancy

Happy Father's Day

>> Monday, May 22, 2023

With Father's day quickly approaching I thought it was time for me to get in gear to get a few cards made for the dads in my family.

For my card today:

  • I used the TOOL BORDER - 379F on the tan card stock to create the circle behind the sentiment.
  • Next, I white heat embossed the RULER - 916H and just the Happy Father's Day from the NAILED IT! FATHER'S DAY GREETING - 114G on black card stock in white.
  • Once those were heat embossed, I die cut the sentiment and layered it over the circle layers.
  • The base is embossed with a wood emboss folder and the card was finished with a few black gems.

Are you ready for Father's Day? DRS Designs has some great images and sentiments to help you get ready.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Wherever You Go

>> Tuesday, January 31, 2023

Hi Everyone,

I realized I was super low on birthday cards in my stash, so I quickly had to throw one together for a boy.

I chose a candle embossing folder with big candles and stamped the beginning part of the Wherever You Go Birthday Greeting that was die cut and embellished with some green ink.

To make the card personal to the recipient, I attached the baseball glove image that was stamped using the Four Corner Sports stamp, and made sure I used the team colors for the card as well.

To finish it off, I simply added some glitter glue to the candle flames.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Happy Birthday

>> Tuesday, September 6, 2022

 Hi Everyone,

When it comes to cardmaking, September is a heavy birthday month for me.  It would be great if I planned ahead, but since my good intentions usually fail, my cards tend toward a simple design.

I stamped the Wordy Birthday Greeting in black, orange and red ink, adding some yellow sponging around the die cut. I attached the sentiment at an angle to an embossed cupcake background and added the fussy cut Birthday Party Pig.

To finish it off, I added a few punched stars for a confetti like embellishment :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Fall

>> Thursday, August 25, 2022

Good morning!
I've used a couple of fall stamps today,
along with a 3D fall embossing folder.

I stamped the sentiment and the leaf with black on white card stock then die cut it with a circle.
I die cut the mat from rust with a X stitch circle from Rubberstamper.
The embossing folder is from Sizzix.  I used a cardstock that I sprayed with some yellows
then I inked the folder with Harvest Kaleidacolor pad and ran it through the machine
back and forth 3 times.

Thanks for visiting today!

Birthday Wishes

>> Tuesday, June 28, 2022

 Hi Everyone,

Since we're smack in the middle of summer, I decided to break out my Medium Daisy Bloom stamp and make a birthday card.  Even now, after years of stamping, heat embossing always gives me a thrill.  It's so satisfying to see the powder firm up and give off that glossy sheen :)

The white powder with glittery bits in it makes the flowers pop off that black background and I couldn't help but add some yellow glitter glue to the flower centers.  Cutting the black panel an extra 1/4" smaller than I normally would, better shows off that bright card base color.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Special Birthday Wishes Greeting , embellished it with yellow chalk and attached it with some dimensional foam tape.

Be sure to stop by DRS Designs for lots more birthday stamps!

Herd it’s Your Birthday

>> Tuesday, June 7, 2022

 Hi Everyone,

I went with one of my tried-and-true card layouts for my share on the blog today.  When I make this for a vertical card, I only use 4 circles and place the greeting at the bottom.  However, making a horizontal card let me use the Cow Cutie image a couple of more times, and that let me place the Herd Birthday Greeting in the center.  Using those punches makes it a quick card too :)

I know it's hard to see in the photo, but if you're wondering about the background, it's just a paisley and flower embossing folder that I added some red, yellow and green ink to, before running it through my machine.

Thanks for peeking in today!

Another Year

>> Thursday, May 26, 2022

 Good morning!

Today I've used this beautiful Filigree Butterfly again on my first card.  I thought it went well with the sentiment Another Year Flies By.

I was also experimenting with some Yupo paper and alcohol inks and really liked
the results so I used a couple of strips in this card layout.  The background is
from a new (to me) embossing folder from Spellbinders.
I used a reddish purple clipiola and 3 medium brads to finish it off.

My second card features the beautiful Medium Daisy Bloom done both as an embossed resist
for a background panel and as a main image.
I also used the new Special Birthday Wishes as the sentiment.

I used 3 acrylic sparkle dots on the little side tabs.  For the resist background I embossed with clear powder then sponged Distress Mustard Seed ink on and wiped off the excess.  I also did some light sponging around the main image panel with some Mustard Seed.
Thanks for visiting today, go get crafty!

Rusty Butterfly Birthday Wishes

>> Wednesday, May 18, 2022

This new Filigree Butterfly is quickly becoming one of my favorite images.  Today, I stamped the image in Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and added a bit of sparkle with Stickles and acrylic gems.

I had several embossed birthday panels so I but one up to have a kind of muted sentiment/theme.

This was a quick and fun to make card.

Hope your week is going well.

Candy Heart Wreath

>> Wednesday, January 5, 2022

 Hello Crafty Friends!

You know how I love to turn an image into a wreath, and these candy hearts from the new Candy Heart Background are perfect for a wreath!

The background was made by scribbling alcohol ink marker on a Ziplock bag, dropping on rubbing alcohol, and then pressing the paper into the mixture.  I let my grandsons do the scribbling and pick the colors.  The candy hearts were colored using alcohol markers, and then they were fussy cut.  I added the "happy" from the new Double Line Happy Valentine's Day Greeting (the rest of the greeting is on the inside).

Extra Supplies: tile embossing folder (SU!) and Funky Wreath thinlet die (Tim Holtz/Sizzix).

Valentines Day is just around the corner!

Hugz,

Nancy

Happy Halloween

>> Tuesday, August 31, 2021

 Hi Everyone,

With September starting tomorrow, fall will be here before we know it, and in my house, Halloween is the kick off to the holiday season.  I've extoled my love of candy corn previously here on the blog, and next to candy, stamping is my another of my favorite things for the holidays.

This first monochromatic card features the new Halloween Crow/Witch Frame, which was stamped, heat embossed and die cut using a rectangle die.  I layered it all up using dimensional foam tape and attached it to the card base stamped using the Accent Bats.  A simple strip of black glitter finished it off.

Since my rectangle dies were still out on my craft table, I used them again on my second card.  I decided to feature the Witch Books and Hat, so I stamped, colored and fussy cut it out.  I dry embossed the first rectangle layer, and stamped the second using the Spooky Eyes.  The background was stamped using the Empty Spider Web and my drippy goo punch has to make and appearance, at least once a season.

I added two purple strips of glitter and for the sentiment, I used the beginning portion of the Witches Brew Halloween Greeting, to match the whole magic spell theme of the card.

Be sure to check out all the Halloween goodies at DRS Designs!

Summertime

>> Tuesday, June 22, 2021

Hi Everyone,

It's officially summer and in my opinion, margaritas are the ultimate adult summer beverage. The lime, the icy bits...the SALT! They're even good minus the tequila.  Just add some simple syrup, a fresh squeezed orange to the lime juice, (and a splash of fizzy water for some pizazz) and you're in business. Mmmmmm...I think I should have titled the post Taco Tuesday, because I think I know what's for dinner now!

For this first card I inked up a citrus embossing folder to create the background, and stamped colored and fussy cut the Margarita Glass, adding some glitter glue to the rim for the salt.  I heat embossed the Citrus Slice and attached everything along with the Toes in the Sand Birthday Greeting.

Here is another graduation card I made, because, tis the season!  I copied the layout from my last graduation card here, I just changed up the school colors and added the bee, since that's the school mascot.

Here are the stamps I used:
Graduation is The Beginning Verse

Here's hoping your summer is in full swing!  Thanks for stopping by!

Watermelon Note

>> Friday, June 4, 2021

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!

I hope your week has gone well! I think Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer & when I think of summer, I always think of watermelon. So I'm using a watermelon image for my card today. The ant is a bonus, lol. After I colored the scene, I die cut it then added a black scallop frame. For the bg, I embossed the red section w/ a border folder showing summer foods & the white section w/ the companion checkerboard folder. I added a narrow black strip to cover the divide & a couple of die cut buttons. I added a little black stickles on top of the buttons.

Here's the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Let's Go Fishing

>> Wednesday, May 12, 2021

Our family is very into fishing.  We have a catfish pond so we can fish anytime.  My daughter lives on the lake so they can go fishing anytime too.  Everyone loves it (but me - I hate to be hot and I can't stand bugs).

My Son-in-law loves to go night fishing so this card is in honor of him.  I embossed the new Silhouette Fishermen and the Love You to the Moon Greeting with white embossing Powder.

If you fish much, you also know you have to expect the unexpected like some rain.  On my next card,  I dipped my base panel in some inky water and let it dry.  Then I stamped on the fishermen, the Raindrop Background, and then stapled on the fun Expect the Unexpected Greeting

Super easy cards and I know the fishermen in my life would love them.

Nancy

Jungle Out There

>> Friday, April 23, 2021

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! Our spring weather has backslid a bit..woke up to temps in the upper 20's this morning & it's not supposed to get above the 50's for a day or two. Hopefully it wasn't below freezing for too long so maybe the blooms will survive. The dogwoods & azaleas are almost at peak right now.

So..I made this bartered green bg a few days ago then couldn't decide what to do w/ it. I used an embossing folder on it that looks like a jungle full of leaves. That led me to the greeting & the collection of cute animals. After I colored & fussy cut them, I added them over & under the wide deckled frame where I put the greeting along the bottom. In case you can't tell, a lot of the tiny inside pieces around the animals are still there. When I have tiny areas like that, I'll usually just color them in to match the bg so they disappear. It's a little bit of time saver.

Here's the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

paper:  Staples 110# white
