Beauty of Autumn

>> Thursday, November 23, 2023

 Hello crafty friends, happy Thanksgiving!!

I used some old dies from Memory Box to create this tunnel view of an autumn scene.  My DRS stamps today are Autumn Leaf Pile and One Line Beauty of Autumn.

I created the tunnel of trees with foam between each layer except for the first layer which was glued directly to a frame I made with a Rubbernecker inverted scallop die and a larger piece of cardstock.

I sponged orange ink to the inside of the frame and around the arch sentiment that I made
with the stamp and 2 circle dies.
Each layer of trees was sponged with a progressively darker gray color ink.
I imagined the trees were one of the white trunked trees like aspen or birch.

I stamped the pile of leaves multiple times then cut out the top slightly to make an uneven leafy surface for the deer to stand in. I sponged the leaves with 3 colors and then used
Painty Pens to give more detail to some colors.
To get the sentiment to arch nicely, I snipped the rubber top and bottom as if I were sewing an arm into a shirt armhole opening. Going around curves with fabric is impossible without first snipping the curves.  Red rubber does not bend without snipping to allow the curve (don't worry, it doesn't affect your stamp image or words when straight stamping is desired).
That's about it!

Lady Scarcrow

>> Monday, November 20, 2023

Hello crafty friends. I am happy to have you stop by to check out my card this week. With fall in the air, I just had to play with this really cute lady scarecrow.

For my card:

  • I stamped the LADY SCARECROW - 418L and colored her up with copics.
  • I then found some coordinating paper scraps in my scrap drawer and cut them down adding a black layer to accent the colors.
  • The card was finished with a couple of buttons from my stash to pick up the button theme from the image.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my card this week.

You Make Friendsgiving

>> Thursday, November 16, 2023

 Hello crafty friends!

Today I have another Friendsgiving card, perfect timing for the Thanksgiving holiday!

I made one layer out of corrugated stock which gives this card great texture and the sentiment is (seemingly) attached with enamel "brads".

Hope you like it!

Happy Fall

>> Tuesday, November 14, 2023

Hi Everyone,

With Thanksgiving coming up on us next week, I thought I would sneak in one more fall themed card.

I began by stamping the Silhouette Branch in multiple fall colors.  I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Pumpkin Pile fully intending to layer it on top of the stamped leaves, but the colors were too similar, and the image got lost.  So, I flipped the card stock upside down and placed the pumpkins in the blank space, which left room for the Large Happy Fall Y'all greeting.

I added a strip of orange and some green ribbon before attaching it to the gold card base.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Fall!
Karin

Happy Friends!

 Hello crafty friends!!

Today I used DRS stamps: Happy Friendsgiving and Pie and Coffee.  It was fun thinking of a Friendsgiving potluck I will attend soon.  The pie and coffee really brought that thought home!

I used some fun fall colors and happy ribbon to finish this card.
The whipped cream is Liquid Applique and heated to puff up.

I hope you like this one!  Have a great day!
Thanks for visiting.

Plaid Background

>> Tuesday, November 7, 2023

Hi Everyone,

It's that time of year when I pull out the Woven Plaid background stamp, because it makes the best, fall and winter backgrounds.

I colored and fussy cut my Give Thanks Pumpkin Stack and layered them onto a die cut rectangle.  I took inspiration from it when it came to choosing the colors for the plaid background.

I also looked to my image for embellishment inspiration and added a ribbon, sunflower and matching fall leaves.

I'm getting excited for Thanksgiving.  Not so much the cooking part, but the eating part for sure!

Have a great day!

Happy Thanksgiving

I really love the look of this whimsical pumpkin.

For my card:

  • I used the WOVEN PLAID - 613P stamping it on orange card stock with a darker orange memento ink.
  • Next, I used a Simon Says pumpkin die cut to cut the pumpkin pieces. I then sponged both edges of each of the pumpkin pieces with the same orange memento ink and glued them together.
  • I then cut the green stem from a textured green card stock.
  • I added some punched twigs and flowers and finished the flowers with Nuvo drops.
  • For the banner I used the 1 LINE HAPPY THANKSGIVING - 841D and pupped it up on dimensionals.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Watercolor Friendsgiving Wishes

>> Sunday, November 5, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends.

We are on the downhill slide to Thanksgiving and Christmas now - seems like this is the fastest two months of the year.

Today, I have a Friendsgiving card made with these two stamps:

You Make Friendsgiving Special

Winter Trees

With my watercolors, I added a horizon, some shadows and a bit of leaves on the trees.  I took my leftover paint and splattered it on.  Super quick and easy.

I used part of the tree image on the inside and splattered a bit more paint.

Hoping your holiday plans are going well.

Hugz,

Nancy

I've used DRS Designs stamps: Cornucopia and Happy Friendsgiving

I used some dies from I.O. and Memory Box.  The yellow corn looking things are some pollen stamen from HC.

I hope you like this one! I'm going to a Friendsgiving celebration at our church this month.
Food and fun, sounds good!

Fall Birthday Scene

>> Monday, October 30, 2023

I know this image looks like a great fall scene, but I love using images for more than just the intended reason. For my card today, I decided to make this cute fall scene a birthday card.

  1. I started by stamping the PUMPKIN PATCH - 333L on acetate using my Misti to mask the sentiment from the sign.
  2. Next, I placed my card stock in my Misti and added masking paper to the sign area of the card stock.
  3. I then stamped the image on the card stock leaving the masking paper in place so the sentiment would be removed from the image.
  4. I then used the BIRTHDAY MULTI GREETING - 219P and lined up the sentiment by stamping on the acetate so I could line up the sentiment on the sign.
  5. Once the scene was stamped, I colored with copics, cut down the panel and layered on some coordinating orange card stock, and finished with a few scattered orange sequins.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Fall Trees and Thanksgiving

>> Wednesday, October 25, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends!

I have an easy card to share featuring the lovely Hayrides Harvest Greeting which always makes me smile.

The greeting gives you lots of options for images, and this time I focused on trees (thinking next time it will be cider or acorns).  The trees were super easy - I look a scrap piece of card stock dipped in gray watercolor paint and scraped it along in lines up and down.  Then I just sponged on two different colors of yellow watercolor paint dabbing here and there followed by splattered, red, black and white paint.  I like the effect, but next time I would use watercolor paper for the base instead of white cardstock, would use a credit card for making the trees, and would use acrylic paint for the dabbing of the yellow leaves (to hide the trees more).  Still it was very fun and quick to make.

Hope you are enjoying Fall wherever you are and getting ready for the big upcoming holidays as they are coming on us fast.

Hugz,

Nancy

Leaf Inspired Happy Friendsgiving

>> Sunday, October 22, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends, hope your weekend is going well.

I have a quick card made with an oak leaf and a fun new stamp from DRS Designs.

I painted up the leaf with water color paint and slapped it on my paper several times.  I tried different colors and added a bit of Stickles for some glamour.  Then I stamped the Happy Friendsgiving greeting and sponged the edges with some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.

Nancy

Happy Halloween

>> Monday, October 9, 2023

Hello crafty friends. I have a fun Halloween card to share with you today.

For my card:

  • I used the new SPOOKY JACK HALLOWEEN - 224F stamped on white card stock and colored with copics. It is hard to see but I added some stickles to the eyes.
  • The card base is embossed with a wood emboss folder.
  • For the leaves, I grabbed several distress oxide inks on white card stock scraps. Once the scrap paper was fully colored I punched it down with 2 different sized leaves. This is a great way to use scrap paper and it does not matter if the colors don't blend well. They turn out great for fun fall leaves.
  • The SPOOKY JACK HALLOWEEN - 224F is popped up on dimensionals.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Danger!

>> Thursday, October 5, 2023

Hello crafty friends!
I was at Hobby Lobby the other day, waiting for my husband's surgery to be complete, when I found a roll of this stuff (in the ribbon section) that is a cross between jute color spider webs and fishing net sort of stuff.  Wow, of course I had to buy it! How could I resist? Come on, I'm only human after all!!
So I used it as scary spider web stuff today on this haunted house card.
I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix Distressed brick embossing folder inked with Black Soot on the background.
I used DRS Designs stamps: Beware Window and So Spooky It's Scary.
The ghost was a die cut from vellum that I used a white Painty Pen on to make a face and outline.

I hope you like this scariness.  It was so fun to make!

I did put a little red glitter pen on the skull eyeballs too beside coloring in the words, Danger, Keep Out! and Beware!!

Thanks for visiting today!

 Hello friends!

I used a plaid embossing folder for the background (Sizzix) and a Spellbinder (old)
die set to cut out the image.

My second card is for fall as well.
I made a Z-fold card.

I used another Spellbinder die for this card front and an IO die for the sentiment inside.

The wood embossing folder is from Sizzix.

Thanks for visiting today!

Fall Friendsgiving...

Today for or my card, I used the new HAPPY FRIENDSGIVING - 232G and paired it with the BOUNTIFUL BASKET - 791L for a great fall themed friendship card.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card. I used the new YOU MAKE FRIENDSGIVING SPECIAL GREETING - 235E and stamped a portion of the BOUNTIFUL BASKET - 791L in grey in the bottom right corner leaving it uncolored.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Friendsgiving

>> Tuesday, September 19, 2023

Hi Everyone,

I don't use the Stained-Glass stamps near enough.  They really elevate a stamp that has been used many times, into something new!  I stamped the Fall Leaf with Acorn inside the Small Stained-Glass stamp, but there are various sizes of stained-glass stamps to choose from.

I colored up the leaf and acorn and then did a gradient coloring on the stained glass portion.  For the background I used a fall leaf embossing folder and the Open Leaf stamp that I colored up to match.

The new You Make Friendsgiving Special Greeting (235E) was the perfect pairing for the images.

Thanks for stopping by!

Friendsgiving Two Ways

>> Wednesday, September 6, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends!

If you are looking for some fun Friendsgiving images, I have two to share today.  I have never done Friendsgiving, but both my daughters have done it for years.  I am lobbying my Bunco group to do as our November theme - even if we just do desserts or something.  If they agree, I plan to make 11 cards like these.

My first card uses the new You Make Friendsgiving Special Greeting (235U).  I made the back panel by scoring white cardstock and then dragging three different distress inks down the paper. I drew in a few lines and ovals too.  The wreath is from Sizzix (Tim Holtz Funky Wreath Thinlet) which I cut out of white paper and then sponged with the darker colors from the wood panel.  After that, I stamped the sentient on some kraft paper and popped it up a bit after sponging.  It needed some flowers or something so I die cut some using another Tim Holtz die (Modern Floristry) drawing a few doodles and putting in some stamens with Black Stickles.

My next card uses the new Happy Friendsgiving (232G) greeting.  I drew and watercolored the pumpkins and foliage.  I didn't like the back pumpkin so I added dots with some Gold Stickles to make it funky and fun. The main panel is done on watercoclor paper which I sponged with Tim Holtz DOX in Vintage Photo.  I inked the sentiment up with Arteza Watercolor Brush Pens so it has a softer look.

Hope your week is going really well and you can feel a bit of Fall in the air (I can't but I am looking hard for it and plan to dance the minute I feel it).

Hugz,

Nancy

Pumpkin Pie Memories

>> Wednesday, August 30, 2023

Hello crafty friends.

The minute someone says Fall is coming, I think of pumpkin pie.  My Dad made the best pumpkin pie with a middle layer of cheesecake.  I wish I had that recipe!  No cheesecake layer in this pumpkin pie, but it still makes me hungry!

To make this, I stamped the Pie and Coffee image three times. The base layer also has Thanksgiving - Thinking of You. I watercolored all three images and cut out the pie and coffee in detail on one layer and just the pie on the other.  I think sponged the edges of everything with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Vintage Photo.  The layers were then stacked with foam tape.

To make the wood look base, I scored some white cardstock and then drug three different Distress Oxide ink pads directly across the paper (Vintage Photo, Black Soot, and Lost Shadow).

I think I am going to make it my mission to try and recreate my Dad's pie this year.

Bring on Fall!

Hugz,

Nancy

Seasons of Birds

>> Wednesday, January 4, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today, I am playing with the Bird on a Branch and the Small Birthday Wishes Greeting.

For the card on the right, I popped up the bird and also used the Winter Trees image.  I used watercolors to make the sky and the shadows.  Then I added some Snowtex.

For the card on the right, I watercolored the full scene behind the bird.

These were super fun.  I think I am going to figure out a few more ways to use this pretty bird.

Hugz,

Nancy
