Have you ever made a card in the middle of the night because it was better than lying in bed not being able to sleep? This is what I did a couple of nights ago. And one mistake after another happened! This card was supposed to look like this: Bucky the Bunny (sneak peek) with one balloon (colored with Copic markers) and a stamped ground with Vicki's Versatile background, followed by sponging in the same color of caramel, a colored cotton tail colored with a white gel pen, a sponged sky with the scene mounted on pumpkin cs and mounted on white cs with bunny paw prints, and then finally mounted on a pumpkin card base. That's it. Maybe some ribbon.
So, this is how the story goes. LOL!
1. I was too lazy to mask Bucky and his balloon, so I sponged some sky on his perfectly colored, shaded balloon. I tried to cover it up with darkening the coloring. Bad mistake. It was too late to mask anything to stamp another balloon, so I stamped the back of dsp for the balloon.
2. Since I used the lighter shade of dsp, I had to make to blend in more so it wasn't obvious why I had used the dsp balloon. You guessed it. I added just a tad, not too much, of the same dsp on the base of the card.
3. I somehow ended up with a smudge on Buck, so I added a bow.
4. The bow was in an odd spot. I could have wrapped the ribbon all around, but I didn't want to cover more of Bucky up, especially with his cute cotton tail! So, I added some brads in hopes of making it look "more even".
5. At this point, I saw one more mistake that I did't think would ruin the card in my eyes. And I was finally too tired to come up with a reasonable cover-up. LOL!
So, has this ever happened to you.... daytime or nighttime? Do you try and fix it with cover-ups or start over?
Please tell me I'm not the only one making mistakes and covering them up :)

Winter has been milder than usual here. I'm not a fan of winter so I don't mind.... except for there hasn't been any snow days! The snow has been coming down little bits at a time. I saw the first snowman of the season in our neighborhood the other day. It was so tiny but very cute!
This golfing snowman is very cute, too! He is popped up on dimensionals. The arrows were made with a punch. And I also used Swiss Dots CB embossing folder and punched a circle. When I turned it over on the backside, it looks like a golf ball.
What do you think of the greeting? It makes me laugh every time I see it! Along with the greeting and golf ball snowman, I also used DRS's grass background. The colors I used were not quite navy, garden green, and pumpkin pie.

This first card is a tent topper. Starting with a 4.25 square card, the top scallop circle is added above the top of the card. If measured carefully, it will fit into an A2 envelope. (Recipe below.)
It's your birthday!
A Valentine CupcakeI purchased my first DRS stamps a year ago and I believe this is the first card I made. I love this image! I love how clean and simple this card is yet it really pops! You can find this beautiful Valentine Heart (K582) image here on the DRS web site.
I used Copic markers, SU heart punch, and riding hood red CS & taffeta ribbon. You can find more information about this card from a year ago on my blog here.
Next is a stepped up card... definitely not CAS. LOL!
This year I was following a recipe for a New Year's Eve challenge on SCS. You can find out more about it here on my blog.
Supplies used include: satin ribbon, white gel pen, rhinestone stickers, SU scallop edge punch & Top Note die cut and Copic markers. This card also includes DRS stamp Easy Grass Background (E059).
This third card was made yesterday for the SCS color challenge: ruby red, soft suede, & bashful blue. I couldn't find any ruby red in my stash, so I used what was close... the retired riding hood red. I wasn't really sure if I'd like these colors together, but I think it turned out alright. I used the Valentine Flower again, but this time I wanted just the blossom. This card also uses the new verse stamp, Love is Patient (H201). Other materials include taffeta ribbon, SU scallop edge punch, and SU designer paper. The verse is hard to see. You can click on any photo to see a larger image.

Here is a sneak peek of our new Snow Lady. Isn't she adorable?!? I love the snowflakes on her hat and the eyelashes are too cute! I used one of my favorite color combinations: pink, apricot, and pumpkin.
I used Copic markers to color the image and and SU marker for the greeting and dots on the scallop. Additional accesssories include: Martha Stewart snowflake punch, SU scallop edge punch, and dimensionals

The Three Wise Men
I've been so nervous about making this card! The Three Wise Men Ornament is so beautiful and I'm not sure I did it justice. My idea was to leave the card simple to show off that beautiful image.
The image is colored with Copic markers. I used an eyelet to lace the gold ribbon through. The greeting is inked with a marker to stamp it at two different levels. The next time I do that, I will be more careful about measuring distance. Yikes! Finally, the navy blue layer is mounted on pop up dots.

He's on the high functioning end of the Autism spectrum and according to him, I'm breaking the rules when I make a Christmas card in non-traditional colors. LOL! I love to color! It's very relaxing to me. So, some days I just color instead of making a card. If you love challenges the way I do, you'll see how very beneficial this is. It's so much quicker to get that challenge card uploaded! I can completely skip a step if I have the right image colored. As you can see from the above photo, that doesn't happen very often. LOL!
This is the card I made for today's Clean & Simple challenge on SCS. I had her colored ahead of time. So it was completely coincidental that I was making a card with a kitten. I almost didn't have this uploaded in time for my challenge sample. I couldn't find my camera. Does anyone else have that problem? I do because I have to hide it from our kitten... and I don't always remember to hide it in the same spot. She likes the cord! I usually have the Christmas tree up by this time, I'm a little nervous. Now this kitty on the card looks so innocent. She would never hurt anything! LOL!

I have another tent topper card to share with you. This one is different. First, I rarely use a greeting as a main image. And even more rarely do I use this much bling. I used one rhinestone brad and 3 rhinestone stickers. I worked 13 hours today and I'm exhausted. And because I'm exhausted, I didn't plan anything! I just sat at my desk and started. Who does that? Not me!!!
Anyway, I hope you're as pleased with the outcome as I am. Maybe I should use bling more often!
I used a Marvy Mega scallop punch for the Yesteryear Christmas Greeting (G130). I sponged the edges with old olive ink and added a dotted line under "Christmas" with a fine tip red marker. I stamped the new Holly Giga Circle (L120) with old olive ink and used the Marvy Giga scallop punch. I used a red fine tip marker to fill in the holes for the berries and mounted the greeting on the Giga scallop. After adding 3 rhinestone stickers, it was partially taped onto a 4.25 square card and when finished, it fits nicely into a standard A2 envelope.
The top old olive layer is stamped in old olive with the Gift Background (H1140). The designer paper (unknown source) is added with red ribbon and a rhinestone brad to secure the ribbon. The brad and ribbon warped the card a bit, so I used a bit of red sticky tape to adhere the top old olive layer to the red layer. And to finish the card, I popped up the layers with dimensionals on an old olive card base.

I love finding alternative ways to use images and this tent topper card was the perfect design to get creative! I used a greeting, "Have a Jolly Holiday" (D480) to make a unique background on the bashful blue layer with bashful blue ink. I then added a white strip of card stock with the same greeting in red. This was taped onto a red card base that measures 4.25 square. Then I stamped "Cutie Pie Merry Elf" (K1150) and punched out a portion of the image with a 1 3/4" circle punch. I used a cutting system to make the red mat. I then stamped "Mega Snowflake Circle" (H259) and punched it with Marvy's Mega scallop circle punch. I matted all the layers onto bashful blue card stock punched with Marvy's Giga scallop circle punch. I added dots to the Giga scallop with a bashful blue marker. Finally, I added the final touch with a red gingham bow. The elf was colored with Copic markers: Crimson (RV29), Pure Pink (RV23), Light Pink (RV21), Sepia (E37), Milky White (E51), Buttercup Yellow (Y21), Acid Yellow (Y08), Nile Green (G07), Ice Blue (B12), and for highlighting, Pale Blue Gray (B60).
Tent Topper cards fit into a standard A2 envelope. When attaching the topper, it is easiest to get the size correct by placing the card onto your envelope before adhering the topper.
I love this candle! On the first card, I used both thin and thick dimensionals to create lots of dimension. The Stickles are on the flame, the top of the "melted" wax, and on the berries. I wish I had thought to add it to the center of the leaves. There's always next time!

I'm not fond of winter in real life, but I love decorating my house with snowmen and crafting with all kinds of winter images. The first card uses the color challenge posted on Splitcoast, yesterday: mellow moss, kraft, & white.

This is Snowflake Snowman. I like to call him Mr. Flaky :) This isn't my normal color combination for snowmen, but I thought go bold and give it a try!
Does anyone else have difficulties stamping your sentiments the way you want them? It can be so frustrating! This time I stamped it straight, but it was off-center. I almost brought more cardstock out, but at the last second, I thought of adding this cute little snowflake in the corner. What do you think?

I just love the Cutie Pie kids! They're adorable! I think Cutie Pie Christmas Helpers (M1141) is my favorite of the newly released images because my favorite Christmas memories as a child are of decorating the Christmas tree.
The Simple Joys of Christmas greeting (F957) is the first part of a larger greeting. The remainder of the greeting is stamped inside the card and reads, "warm your heart, fill your home, and last a lifetime."
I used Copic markers to color the image. The faux stitching was made using a paper piercer, template, and a ballet blue marker. The edge punch is actually a corner punch. It's actually very easy to line up! Then to finish it off, I added some red gingham ribbon.

I have had so much fun using this adorable DRS stamp: High Tailin' Turkey! It reminds me of a small class of special education students I taught a few years ago. We were writing a story together. They came up with the ideas and I modeled the writing. It was called, The Great Escape. I wish I had been more careful with saving it. It was such an adorable story. This turkey image is like a walk down memory lane. :)
This first card was made for the SCS Clean & Simple challenge to use dimensionals / pop-up dots. On this card, the hats are popped up. The designer paper was cut free-hand to make the hill. I also used a Scor-Pal, SU punches, and Copic markers. The sentiment is the first two lines of the sentiment seen in the third card of this post.
This second card was designed using the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week. I used Copic markers for the turkey and SU creamy caramel ink for the ground. First I sponged the ink, starting from the edge and sponging towards the center. Then I used my markers to add some "pebbles". Cardstock: white, sahara sand, sage shadow, and To the Nines dsp. Accessories: brads, scalloped Nestie, Martha Stewart zig-zag edge punch.
On this last card, I wanted to emphasize the full greeting. So I used the turkey to make a unique background by repeatedly stamping him in mulitiple directions.
