Pet Sympathy

>> Monday, July 11, 2022

Every month I make a lot of cards for pet donations. I love looking for ways to make multiple cards with items I already have out and not waste good die cut negatives when I cut out a die cut from a card.

This first card, I water colored a rainbow then decided to die cut out the paw print and pop the paw print up on dimensionals over the rainbow. I added the LOSS OF PET SYMPATHY GREETING - 313E to the panel.

Using that die cut paw print I was able to quickly add it to a black card stock panel then heat emboss the same LOSS OF PET SYMPATHY GREETING - 313E to the panel. The second card was finished with a punched heart from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my cards this week.

Pet Sympathy

Welcome!

Last week I was in need of a pet sympathy card and when I checked my stash I was surprised to find it empty.  Here's what I came up with on the fly...

Using our  Dog Bone stamp and some black dye ink I randomly stamped a piece of white card stock.  After coloring I sponged on a little brown ink along the edges.  I stamped the Loss of Pet Sympathy Greeting using vintage green ink and cut it out using a nestie grommet tag.  The green layer was simply another nestie that I traced the insideof using a white pen.  After adhering them together I attached some twine to both sides and assembled it all on a folded green card.

After cutting out one little dog bone and paw print from my Dog Background stamp, I stamped an ivory piece of cs with them using black and brown inks.  I stamped out Loss of your Pet Greeting on more ivory cs and ran it through my cuttle bug as well as a green piece of cs for my scalloped oval and attached all to a folded tan card.

Missing Piece

>> Monday, August 9, 2010

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff
I hope your week is off to a great start!

We all love our pets and for most, they are much more than pets...they are family members. When you lose one it's like your family has a missing piece.

For my pet sympathy card, I used several large puzzle piece punches to create the area for the image. I put the puzzle pieces together and attached them (temporarily) to a larger piece of black card stock. then stamped on top and colored with markers. I sponged a little blue ink around the edges, removed the center piece then attached them permanently. To make the black mat for the missing piece, I punched two black puzzle pieces and attached them to the original piece.

I used a stencil I made with a piece of acetate and some scallop edge scissors to create the cloudy sky background. The greeting was stamped on top to finish my 5.5 x 4.25 (A2) card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!

Supplies:
stamps:Pet Angel Group, Loss of Pet Sympathy greeting
paper: white, black
ink: permanent black, soft blueaccessories: markers, various puzzle piece punches, self made cloud stencil

Group Sympathy.....

>> Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Good day! Bonnie here again and before I show you my card I want to remind you that there are only a couple of days left for you to enter into our sketch challenge!! Take a look at this post to see the sketch and what fabulous prizes you could win!!

I have already used the sketch on these two cards here.....so this week I switched it up a bit since I wanted to colour up this image! I haven't had time to colour lately, since we have been harvesting  wheat, but FINALLY it is done.....so onto the colouring yay!

I used two of our new July releases for my card today - Pet Angel Group and Loss of Pet Sympathy Greeting.....We all know how attached we can get to our dogs and cats....and rats.....and reptiles, so it is always nice to know that othesr can empathize with you when you lose one of your little furry friends!

Using my glue pen, I added a bit of glitter on the halo's and then added some beautiful bling alongside the sentiment!

Thanks for coming around today!!

Another way to win!

>> Thursday, July 15, 2010

Welcome!

Just last month we had a "Stamp a Day Giveaway" and sent out 30 cling mounted stamps to 30 lucky winners. We were having so much fun we just couldn't stop and got to work planning new ways to win!

The first thing we came up with is a sketch challenge - Yeah!!!

This is the sketch I was given to work with ~

I've only done a couple of sketch challenges in the past , so it took us 2 tries to get it right :) I say "us" because I had help from my 2 nieces - Andi who's 13 and Krissy who's 12. As they say, a fun time was had by all!

This is the card we came up with (the second time :) ~

We stamped the Dog Angel using black dye ink and colored him with markers (we all colored one and then voted on which one we liked best. Andi was the unanimous winner). We added a little shimmer to his wings and halo, and then sponged on some light blue around the edges.

Here's where we changed things up a bit - instead of having this card open like a regular card we decided the layers of the sketch would unfold to reveal the inside message.

For the middle layer we stamped our Dog Paw Background with taupe dye ink around the edges of textured cream cs and added our Loss of Pet Sympathy Greeting to the center using blue dye ink

This layer unfolded to reveal our final message - our Pet Sympathy Greeting was stamped in the center, again using blue dye ink.

Easy Peasy as they say!!

Here's all you need to do to play along:

Create a card or other papercraft creation using the sketch above. DRS Designs stamps are not required, but if you do have some we would love to see you use them for the challenge. Click here to bring you to the original post so you can add your card to the InLinkz Box. You have until 11:59pm ET on July 26th, and then we'll pick 2 winners from all of the participants who can choose either the beach or golf stamp package (shown below) as their prize!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Good luck and remember to check back often for more stamp giveaways!!

Angels Among Us - Pet Loss

>> Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Hi, Hello, Howdy, How are you? Jenny here...

Thanks for visiting us today at the DRS Designs blog. I did a version of the sketch from our current challenge. With sketches you can also interpret them in your own way as long as you stick close to the sketch. I love doing that with sketches. I hope you get time to play along with us. The challenge is open until 11:59 p.m. on July 26th, so there is still plenty of time to play along.  Just click here to link up your card for a chance at 2 fabulous prize packages!

This is the sketch...
Here is my card made with some of DRS Designs new stamps. Have you checked them out? If not please see them all HERE. They are sooo great!!!

I absolutely LOVE doing this ribbon treatment. Doesn't all the stamps tie in so well together? Here I used Cat Angel (There is also a Dog Angel and Pet Angel Group), Loss of Pet Greeting and Cat Paw background.

For the Cat Angel I colored her in with Copic Markers and used a shadow marker on the cloud (which is hard to see in the picture) to make it pop out.

The Cat Paw background stamp I inked up with a pretty teal and stamped it just on one side.

For the ribbon treatment, I ran some tape across the cardstock then just looped the ribbon side to side all the way across to the end to give it this look.

I used allot of Pop up tape to give it dimension. I have a serious addiction to pop dots ;) lol

I hope you enjoyed what I shared with you today. We truly appreciate your comments and I hope you will be playing along with the Sketch Challenge.

So, are you ready to win these? All you have to do is PLAY to win!! :)

Cant wait to see your creations!! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed week!!

Blessings,

With Sympathy and Color Throwndown!

>> Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Good day and welcome to a peek at one of the sweet new stamps we are releasing this month!

I used the Cat Angel for my image and the Loss of Pet Sympathy greeting for the sentiment. These will both be released on the 10th of July!!

The circle background is the Interlocking Circle Backgrounder and I stamped it in Versamark Ink!

I used the Color Throwdown colours this week because this week marks the 100th Color Throwdown and boy do they have some prizes to give away!!

DRS Designs is one of the sponsors so check it out sometime this week and see what it is all about!

Pet Project

>> Thursday, March 5, 2009

Posted by Jessica G

Taking a lesson from a very talented co-Design Team member, Vicki (Stamped Smiles), I've decided to show you how versatile a single sentiment can be. When I first received this Pet Sympathy sentiment from DRS Designs, I didn't think I'd have much occasion to use it:

Unfortunately, I almost immediately had two friends lose pets, so the sentiment received more ink than anticipated. This card was created for a friend whose dog passed away:
Stamps by DRS Designs: Pet Sympathy Greeting , Dog Paw Easy Background , Square Silhouette Flowers Ribbon Slide. Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark. Cardstock: Brocade Blue, Black, Textured Silver, GP110 white. Accessories: pet ribbon, silver EP.
As I was inking the sentiment, I realized that because of the way the sentiment was organized, it didn't always need to be used only on sympathy cards. The first portion of the sentiment is appropriate for use on any pet-themed card. So, I decided to go with a happier theme and create a new pet card with the inside panel reading 'Congratulations on your new kitten':
Stamps by DRS Designs: Pet Sympathy Greeting ,Happy Cat Sitting , Large Original Plaid . Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Pretty in Pink. Cardstock: Basic Grey, Pretty in Pink, GP110 white. Accessoried: Prismacolor pencils, turpenoid, circle Nestabilities, Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon, scallop border punch, white gel pen.

Don't you love versatile stamps? They are a great way to stretch a craft budget dollar, so check out other DRS sentiments to see how many different uses you can find for these wonderful sayings!
