Poppy Birthday

>> Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Hi Everyone,

I took my little 9 year old friend to see the movie Cinderella (Super sweet, by the way!), and I did something I haven't done in a very long time.  I bought movie theater popcorn!  With all the reports about how bad it is for you, I generally shy away from it, but it's hard to resist a kid :) Mmmmm....Let me tell ya, it was worth the indulgence.  And it gave me inspiration for today's card share.

I wanted to make a birthday card using the Bowl of Popcorn, so I began with stamping, coloring and fussy cutting my image.  I created background papers using the Popcorn and Splatter Background stamps and added a bit of ribbon trim to match.  I then layered my image onto some die cuts, but I needed a sentiment for the front.

I chose the Hoppy Birthday Greeting, and changed it to fit the theme of my card.  I used a bit of tape to mask off the H in the first word and stamped and colored my greeting.  I then stamped it a second time on a piece of scrap paper and fussy cut the letter P, adding it to the beginning.  So cute.  It even looks like the greeting is popping around!

Thanks for "popping" by and in the words of Cinderella, "Have courage and be kind."

Have a great day!
Karin

Poppin' In

>> Saturday, June 28, 2014

Hi everyone, Robin here bringing you this yummy card, Hee!  This popcorn is so fun to color with the combination of the really white popcorn and BUTTER!!  I have heavy butter on mine.  If you look close you can see a few places without but for the most part my popcorn is saturated!! This would be a fun card to send to some of your friends to just say hi or to invite them to meet for a movie!!
I used a sketch I found at SCS to do my card, (I just love the sketches over there!)
I also used DRS stamps: Popcorn Background 1124H, Popcorn Box 920H, Just Poppin in 156D, and Polka Dot Background 688P.
I used an embossing folder for my white layer and Copic Markers to color.
Copic Markers: R14, R35, Y11, Y15, Y35, B24, N01, N0, W01, W0.
Making this card made me want popcorn and if it wasn't for the fact that it would make my fingers oily (bad for paper), I would have made some!! It would probably be gone by now!!!
Have a great weekend everyone and go make some popcorn!

Popcorn

>> Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Hi Everyone,

In my book, no movie is complete without some fresh popcorn, so I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to use these popcorn themed stamps on my card for today's post.  It's a full on tribute to that great salty snack!

I created a simply stamped background using the Popcorn Background and I highlighted the popped kernels with a yellow Copic marker to simulate some butter topping.  I did the same to the popcorn in the Bowl of Popcorn, and then I fussy cut it.  I stamped the image a second time on red card stock and then stamped over it with the Spatter Background and paper pieced it on to the bowl.  I've been wanting to make a spatter ware something, ever since I received that stamp!

I used a dimensional dot to pop up my bowl on some matching die cuts and I stamped and colored the Popped Up Birthday Greeting in coordinating colors for a cheerful birthday card.

Thanks for "popping" by!

Karin

Hi all. I have another birthday card for you today, you can't have to many of those on hand. For this card I used Bowl of Popcorn, Popcorn Background , and Popped up Birthday.

First I stamped the Popcorn Background on gold paper with rich cocoa and attached this to a red card. I stamped the Bowl of Popcorn adding a little color with copic markers then fussy cutting. The Popped up Birthday was stamped and layered on to red card them I stamped a fussy cutout a portion of the Popcorn Background. and Popped it up with foam tape.

POPCORN BIRTHDAY

>> Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Hello Everyone - I made this card LAST week for the challenge. Then, we went out of town (and State) to head south to Alabama and I totally spaced posting this on Thursday! My apologies to DRS Designs and to all of you!

Our challenge for this week was "FOOD FOR THOUGHT" and I used these great Popcorn stamps! First I stamped the Bowl of Popcorn 1131G in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. In Mustard ink, I stamped the Popcorn Background 1124H and used a blender pen to shade the popcorn to make it look nice and buttery! I added some black card stock layers and mounted this on Daffodil Delight card stock, adding black gems in the lower corner. I stamped the Popped Up Birthday Greeting 924H in Tuxedo Black ink by Memento. To further embellish the card, I wrapped stitched Black ribbon around and tied a double bow. I finished the card off by mounting all of the card stock to a Whisper White sheet of card stock.

It is NOT too late to join in the Food For Thought Challenge. The deadline is later today! You can see all of the details HERE. Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day!
