Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  

Everyone at DRS Designs would like to wish you all a Happy and Blessed Easter!

I started my card today by stamping our Daffodil Frame on a silver metallic lid from a leftover container using black Stazon ink and colored it using glass paint and a small paint brush.  For the background I stamped some green card stock with our Polka Dot background using white ink and embossed it with white powder.  The pale yellow layer started out as a rectangle with scalloped edges but I trimmed it down to just run along the bottom and I stamped it with our One Line Happy Easter image using green ink.  I'm totally into die cut bows at the moment so it just wasn't complete until I attached one at the top.

 I couldn't let the holiday go by without showing your the phone case I made in my quest to have a decorative case for every holiday!

This was actually my easiest case so far due to the Sneaky Bunny having already been stamped, colored and fussy cut from last weeks card.  I started with a white piece of card stock that measures 2 5/8" x 5 1/2" with rounded corners.  I masked off the top and bottom sections and stamped out Polka Dot background using yellow ink.  Next I masked the center polka dot section and sponged lime green ink on the top and bottom and then separated our Happy Easter Everybunny and stamped it in green ink.  Once I remove the mask I used a blue marker to add the dividing lines and die cut the center hole and used a regular hole punch on either end of the camera cut out and removed the whole section using a blade.  Last was attaching my previously stamp Sneaky Bunny and inserting it into my case.

Valentine Cell Phone Case

You might remember my hand stamped cell phone covers I made for both Thanksgiving and Christmas (click here for a refresher :).   I had planned to make one for New Years, but simply ran out of time :(  I didn't want the same thing to happen for Valentines Day so I sat down the other night and got stamping!

Once again I started with a plain piece of white card stock that measures  2 5/8" x 5 1/2" and rounded the corners.  I'm not a delicate or flowery kind of lady and I'll almost always choose humor when given the chance so our Fall into Chocolate Greeting fit perfectly!

I masked the top and bottom sections so I could stamp and sponge the center section.  I actually cut apart the Fall into Chocolate greeting to remove the small hearts and chocolate chips and then inked up the "Forget Love" using red ink and the "Fall in Chocolate" lines with brown and stamped it in the center.  After sponging red at the top and brown at the bottom I used red and brown pens to add lines along the edge of the masking before I removed them.  I used the previously removed hearts and red ink to stamp my line of hearts above the greeting and then the chocolate chips and brown ink under the greeting.  The only coloring I did was to fill them in and then sponged on more red and brown above and below everything.  To finish up I put it in the case and used a pencil to mark the button and camera openings then removed it from the case to cut them out.

Cell Phone Fun

Welcome!!

I'm extremely excited about my post this week!  It all started last week when I tried to order a new cell phone case.  I had one last year with Christmas ornaments on it, but upgraded phones and it doesn't fit my new phone.  The real problem came in when I couldn't find one I like for this year.  Turned out to be a the best thing, because what I did find was a clear case which gives me the opportunity to stamp my own!

 Luckily because the case was going to fit my phone I cut out a template before the case even came in.  I immediately started going through Christmas stamps, but then realized I could now do a "case" for all the holidays so I put down the Christmas and picked up the Thanksgiving!!

For my particular phone I need to start with a 2 5/8" x 5 1/2" piece of card stock.  I stamped our Autumn Flower Spray using black ink that had been stamped off once and colored it with my watercolor pencils then lined up our Psalm 100 Thanksgiving Greeting in my misti and stamped it twice using black ink ( you can't really see it in the photo because of the plastic case reflection, but the black came out REALLY black :)  Keeping in mind it all has to be one layer I masked off the flower section and stamped our Woven Plaid (using our Easy Plaid Demo on an angle) using orange and yellow inks and finished off by markering in an orange line after I removed the mask.  After rounding the corners, I put my almost finished card into the case and lightly traced the openings for the 2 cut outs with a pencil.  I used a circle die to punch out the center and for the oval camera opening, I used a regular hole punch at either end and a blade to connect them.  Voila - my first cell phone case!!!

I didn't stop there of course!  On to Christmas.... well, my first Christmas case :)

I was completely in the mood to color last night, and this was the perfect image to use!  I simply stamped our Santa with Puppy Christmas Scene onto another 2 5/8" x 5 1/2" card using black ink - except that before I stamped it I wiped off the ink that's on the window and drapes.  Once I was finished coloring (including the yellow wall) I stamped our Happy Holidays across the top and added a little glitter accent to the fur on Santa's outfit and cut out the 2 openings.
