Friendsgiving

>> Monday, November 13, 2023

My card today is designed around trying to use up some really large gems. I thought it would be fun to use them as heads.

  • For my card, I stamped the YOU MAKE FRIENDSGIVING SPECIAL GREETING - 235E on the card base.
  • Next, I doodled arms and legs for the friends. I cut small triangles and glued them down over the arms and legs.
  • I finished the bodies adding the gems for the heads.
This card turned out so much cuter than I had planned. I may need to make a few of these to send to some special friends.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Leaf Inspired Happy Friendsgiving

>> Sunday, October 22, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends, hope your weekend is going well.

I have a quick card made with an oak leaf and a fun new stamp from DRS Designs.

I painted up the leaf with water color paint and slapped it on my paper several times.  I tried different colors and added a bit of Stickles for some glamour.  Then I stamped the Happy Friendsgiving greeting and sponged the edges with some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.

Nancy

Fall Friendsgiving...

>> Monday, September 25, 2023

Today for or my card, I used the new HAPPY FRIENDSGIVING - 232G and paired it with the BOUNTIFUL BASKET - 791L for a great fall themed friendship card.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card. I used the new YOU MAKE FRIENDSGIVING SPECIAL GREETING - 235E and stamped a portion of the BOUNTIFUL BASKET - 791L in grey in the bottom right corner leaving it uncolored.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Friendsgiving Two Ways

>> Wednesday, September 6, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends!

If you are looking for some fun Friendsgiving images, I have two to share today.  I have never done Friendsgiving, but both my daughters have done it for years.  I am lobbying my Bunco group to do as our November theme - even if we just do desserts or something.  If they agree, I plan to make 11 cards like these.

My first card uses the new You Make Friendsgiving Special Greeting (235U).  I made the back panel by scoring white cardstock and then dragging three different distress inks down the paper. I drew in a few lines and ovals too.  The wreath is from Sizzix (Tim Holtz Funky Wreath Thinlet) which I cut out of white paper and then sponged with the darker colors from the wood panel.  After that, I stamped the sentient on some kraft paper and popped it up a bit after sponging.  It needed some flowers or something so I die cut some using another Tim Holtz die (Modern Floristry) drawing a few doodles and putting in some stamens with Black Stickles.

My next card uses the new Happy Friendsgiving (232G) greeting.  I drew and watercolored the pumpkins and foliage.  I didn't like the back pumpkin so I added dots with some Gold Stickles to make it funky and fun. The main panel is done on watercoclor paper which I sponged with Tim Holtz DOX in Vintage Photo.  I inked the sentiment up with Arteza Watercolor Brush Pens so it has a softer look.

Hope your week is going really well and you can feel a bit of Fall in the air (I can't but I am looking hard for it and plan to dance the minute I feel it).

Hugz,

Nancy

Happy Friendsgiving

>> Monday, September 4, 2023

For my card, I used the new HAPPY FRIENDSGIVING - 232G stamp for my focal. I love the script on this new stamp.

  • Once stamped, I colored the leaves and berries with copics.
  • The oval was die cut with a stitched oval and popped up on dimensionals.
  • Under the oval I added some gold thread that really shimmers up close. You can see just a bit of it at the top of the card.
  • The butterflies were die cut and shaped and I added a bit of gold metalic rub to the raised portions of the butterflies.
  • I finished each of the butterflies with some gems.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Coffee

>> Monday, February 27, 2023

I love sending coffee cards to my friends. It is a nice way of asking them out for a get together. The PAPER COFFEE CUP - 502K is a great image for a quick card.

  • I stamped the lid of the PAPER COFFEE CUP - 502K first then stamped it again on scrap paper.
  • Next, I covered the lid with the scrap paper and then stamped the base of the PAPER COFFEE CUP - 502K.
  • I then fussy cut the PAPER COFFEE CUP - 502K and colored it with copics.
  • For the card base I die cut the blue at an angle using a stitched rectangle die cut and then cut off the overhang.
  • For the sentiment, I used just the word coffee from the COFFEE & FRIENDS GREETING - 531D. I love stretching my stamps to use them in more than one way.
  • Once the coffee sentiment was stamped, I die cut the banner and popped the coffee cup and the sentiment up on dimensionals.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Coffee and Friends

>> Monday, September 19, 2022

Here lately, I have really enjoyed getting together with friends for lunch, coffee, shopping and other fun activities. I thought this card would be perfect for sending to a friend to invite them out for coffee.

    For this card:

  • The PAPER COFFEE CUP - 502K was stamped on white card stock using grey memento ink. I stamped the lid first them masked it and stamped the cup.
  • Once the PAPER COFFEE CUP - 502K was stamped I used light grey to add shadows to the lid and light tans to color the cup.
  • Next, I stamped the COFFEE & FRIENDS GREETING - 531D on velum with black Stazon ink.
  • I then layered the velum centering the sentiment over the cup.
  • The image was framed with a brown to pick up the colors used in the cup and finished with some punched flowers and twigs from my stash.
  • Nuvo Drops were added to finish off the flower centers.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Hello Friend

>> Monday, August 29, 2022

Anyone who knows me knows I love an image with a dog. This WHEELCHAIR BUDDIES - 1060H image is just so sweet.

  • I stamped the WHEELCHAIR BUDDIES - 1060H image then created a mask for the image.
  • Once the image was masked, I used the TREE LINE BORDER - 981P to help build a scene.
  • The scene was colored with copics and layered on a red card stock.
  • For the sentiment I die cut the Hello Friend 3 times and stacked it adding Nuvo Drops to give it some shine.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Cheerful Smiles

>> Tuesday, August 9, 2022

Hi Everyone,

My card today is generic, one of those cards that you can you use as a birthday, friendship or thinking of you cards.  In my opinion, you can never have enough of these in your card stash.

While I know Dogwoods don't come in these colors, it's my favorite flower stamp from the DRS Designs store, and I thought it would work for a background colored up in these fresh, happy colors.

I added a die cut sentiment from the Cheerful Smiles Get Well Greeting which was embellished with a piece of ribbon.  I tried to resist the siren call of glitter but was unsuccessful.  It found its way to the centers of the flowers ;)

The yellows and oranges are making me think about the next season....GAH! I'm not ready to say goodbye to summer, so I'm quickly squashing that thought.

Enjoy the summer as long as you can folks!

Have a good one!

A Friendly Note...

>> Monday, June 7, 2021

Sometimes all you need to cheer up a friend is to send them a note to let them know how much they mean to you.

This FRIENDLY NOTE GREETING - 790D is perfect for just such a friend.

For the background I used a bokeh technique. Using a green distress oxide on white card stock for the full background and more pressure on some parts and less on others to get the two toned green. Next I used white pigment ink and 2 different circle stencils and applied it with a dauber using more white on some and less on others.

I finished the card with the FRIENDLY NOTE GREETING - 790D stamped, die cut and popped up on dimensionals.

I have a second card this week to share with you.

This FRIENDLY NOTE GREETING - 790D is perfect paired with any fun image too. I thought FROG ON A LOG - 252H would be perfect with this sentiment. Once stamped the image was colored with copics and cut with a die cut.

The base layer is embossed with a swirl folder.

Super quick card and perfect for anyone.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my cards this week.

Peep, it’s spring!

>> Tuesday, April 13, 2021

 Hi Everyone,

I love this darling little Chick in Nest stamp, and while it's great for Easter, it makes for a great spring time hello card too.

I attached it to a background of embossed chicken wire and a stamped Checkerboard Background in yellow ink. I covered up the seam using some lace and burlap trim, embellishing with a pre-made yellow flower.

The peep greeting was made using only the word peep from the Favorite Easter Peeps Greeting and a word bubble punch.

For my scene on this card I stamped Frog Boy Cutie Pie Kid and then masked him off in order to create the sky and river bank behind him.  I wanted him to look like he was standing in the creek catching frogs, so it tried to color over his feet and make the bottom of his overalls darker in color.  I'm not sure how successful I was, but his little face is just so cute!

I stamped the Have I Toad You Greeting by splitting it in half, to fit inside a punch and added the I Love You Greeting, that was also made using a banner punch.

I remember picking dandelions for my mom as a small child, as a symbol of my love for her.  Perhaps if I was a boy, I may have brought her frogs instead :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Swan Lake

>> Friday, October 2, 2020

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

 Happy Friday!

I hope your week has gone well! After a rainy start, our week turned out clear, cool & beautiful. It really feels like fall here & the leaves are starting to turn.

This week, I was asked to guest host a watercolor challenge on Splitcoast. The technique I chose was a lot of fun (Watercolor on Embossed Paper). I had so much fun w/ it, I made another bg & used it on my card today. After dry embossing the bg, I watercolored it. I wanted to add some sparkle, so I inked the inside of the folder w/ Versamark (this inked only the lines) then embossed w/ a clear, sparkly powder. I added a white frame where I stamped & colored the rocks border & the fussy cut swan.

Here's the inside:
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great weekend!
Supplies:
paper:  Staples 110# white, purple, watercolor
ink:  Memento tuxedo black, Versamark, (Distress ink shaded lilac used on inside)
accessories: Rubbernecker Deckle Frame  dies Copic markers, Stardust embossing powder, tide embossing folder

Thinking of You

>> Wednesday, September 2, 2020

 Good morning all!

Here I'm using some of the new stamp designs

with some of my favorite stamps from DRS.

One of the new designs is 2 in 1 Mountain and Tree Line.  I used these with the Christmas Village cabin, Mushroom Line

Mushroom Sign Post, Toadstools, Snail Toadstool

Sleeping Gnome, and Ladybug Toadstool , the sentiment

is Warms My Heart

The tree frame die cuts are from Memory Box,  (I popped them up).
The mountains, trees and cabin were stamped and colored then I sponged around the outside area.  Some of the foreground was actually going to be a different card but I just didn't like it so I cut away the bottom with the mushrooms and Gnome then added it to this card, adding in a few more mushrooms.  The trees were popped up between layers of mushrooms.
I also sponged around the outside with Wilted Violet after the tree frames were adhered to the card.
Thanks for visiting today!

Tough Times

>> Tuesday, June 16, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I've been enjoying stamping with the new images and greeting stamps that DRS Designs has recently released.  I made two cards using the same sentiment.

Here I stamped and die cut Guide Dog Assisted Woman and paired that with the Tough Times Don't Last Greeting.  Using the colors from the image I made the backgrounds by stamping half with the Splatter Background stamp and half with the Argyle Background, filling it in with the matching Argyle Diamond.  I covered up the seam with a piece of printed ribbon and added a photo corner punch up top.

Here I made a quick and easy card using the same sentiment.  My mother-in-law broke her hip, and she has been one tough cookie during her recovery process, so this was made with her in mind.  I used a wet paintbrush and washed on some pink, yellow and blue ink.  Once it was dry, I stamped and heat embossed Josephine the Bold right on top and only gave her some "lipstick".

To make it a little girlie, I added some pink gems to the corners. I love how perfect the image and sentiment are together...Just the ticket for a little light hearted inspiration!

If there ever was a perfect sentiment for these times, I'd say this is it!

Pop on over to DRS Designs to get one too...

Sending you and yours stamping hugs!

Gnome One Like You

>> Tuesday, April 28, 2020

Hi Everyone,

How about a couple of cards featuring the adorable Peeking Gnome to brighten up the day?  I took inspiration for this card from this post here.

I loved the way Julie used the Stone Wall and Gate and house in the background, so I decided to make my own scene, using the Mushroom House instead.  The sky and grass were sponged first, and then I went in and stamped the house and Mushroom Line Background.

The fence and gnome were both fussy cut and attached, and there was enough room to fit the
Gnome One Like You Greeting right in the die cut scene.  I attached it to an embossed mushroom background and left enough room at the bottom to add a die cut fence. (Die and embossing folder both by Darice.)

This one was super easy.  I used the same stamps and embossing folder, just adding the
Tree Slice Woodgrain behind the little window I created for the gnome to peek out.

Thank you for visiting today and here's hoping all is well in your little corner of the world!

Happy Stamping,
Karin

Fairy 2 Ways

>> Tuesday, April 14, 2020

Hi Everyone!

These magical little stamps in the form of fairies and gnomes sure have brightened my days at home. So much so, that I'm kind of inspired to maybe make a fairy garden outside, once things warm up around here.

Both my cards feature the new Fairy with Globe stamp, but in I've chosen to show her in two different ways.

Here I stamped the backgrounds using the Large Original Plaid and the Dandelion Puff in purple and pink ink.  Both the fairy and Toadstool were stamped, colored and fussy cut before attaching them to the die cut circles.  I also added a bit of glitter glue to the globe before choosing the sentiment, which came from the Birthday Candle Burst.

I wanted to make a second fairy card, so I used the same stamps, but colored everything black, so she looks like she's in silhouette.  I colored the background around her a light blue and the ground a grey, and added white glitter glue to the globe and black glitter glue to the toadstools.

I attached everything to a dry embossed panel (Darice) and used the 1 Lined Blessed Day for my greeting.

If you haven't checked out the new stamps a DRS Designs, be sure to pop on over to the store!

Have a Blessed Day!

Gnome

>> Tuesday, April 7, 2020

Hi Everyone!

I've been waiting for this day, the day I could give you a peek at some of the new stamps being released at DRS Designs.  AHHH! I'm so giddy and I know that you will be too.  The design team will be showing them off all week and then you will be able to order them yourself starting on April 11th.

I think my favorite of the release is the Peeking Gnome (994) because his little face is so sweet!

Using blue ink, a sponge and a scalloped circle punch, I created the background for this card.  I then used the Brick Wall stamp to create the wall and I attached it to the bottom of the panel.  The gnome was stamped, colored, fussy cut and attached.

It looked a little plain, so I die cut some grass (Darice) and attached it on top of the brick wall.

For the greeting, I used the new Gnome Smile Greeting (997) and the Mushroom Line Background (983), simply coloring it up, adding a few white dots with a gel pen to get that effect.

Remember the release date is April 11th at the DRS Designs store!

Happy Stamping!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

>> Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Hi Everyone!

That Valentine's Day is in the rearview mirror for the year, it's on to some St. Patrick's Day cards for me.

Inspired by the lovely green and white color combo my team mate Robin used on her cards in last weeks post, I decided to try that myself.  While my card is a lot less elegant, I'm still buoyed by the cheerful and fresh look.

I stamped the white die cut panel using the Small Shamrock Group stamp in dark green ink.  After attaching it to a lighter green panel I wrapped it with ribbon and tied a bow.   After stamping and die cutting the Love & Laughter Friends Greeting, I attached it to the base and added a Four Leaf Clover that was colored and fussy cut.

After I finished this card, I had the other half of my green cardstock staring up at me.  I wanted to used it up, but wanted something quick and easy.  I decided to make a "hat", but with a strip of paper for the brim, it would be too big for a regular A2 envelope.  So I left it off.  My advice would be to make the card 3 3/4" wide, and then added a strip of green 4 1/4" long under the black band.  That would have solved my problem had I thought about it :)

So as you can see, I just stamped the Tiny Happy St. Pat's Day and heat embossed it in white.  I punched out a buckle from glitter coated sticker paper and added the Four Leaf Clover for embellishment.

Have you ordered your new DRS Designs catalog Just click here for the details and I'll see you next time!

Happy Stamping!

Lucky To Have Friends!

>> Thursday, February 13, 2020

Good morning!!
I have some Lucky Charms for you this morning! LOL!
These are 2 friendship cards just in time for St Patrick's Day.
I don't really send out too many St. Patrick's cards but I do like to
send friend cards on occasion.
Who wouldn't like to get a card that says "You are so special
to me".  Really that is what both of these say.
For this first card I used DRS Designs stamps:
The decorative die is by Sue Wilson.
I used a square punch to make the corners and a shamrock
die by Taylored Expressions.

My next card uses 2 different Sue Wilson dies together and

these DRS Designs stamps: Four Leaf Clover Friends and
Four Leaf Clover   I used the same 2 colors of green ink as my first
card and pearls to embellish both cards.
These cards were both fast and easy!
Thanks for visiting today!

From Our House

>> Tuesday, December 3, 2019

Hi Everyone,

Well, the holidays are now in full swing, and the shorter window between Thanksgiving and Christmas has really got me hopping to get things done!

Here's my latest card offering in the form of an easel card.  I stamped and colored the
Christmas Rooftops along the bottom and added some falling snow by stamping the
Snow Background in light blue ink.  Since it's all about love this time of year, I stamped the
Christmas From Our House Greeting in a die cut heart and added a mat.

That led me to simply stamp the Large Script Merry Christmas inside and add a punched border, using some of the smaller snowflakes to help keep the card open.

Hop on over to DRS Designs to see all of these stamps and much more!

Tis the season to be stamping!
