Winter Skating

>> Friday, January 29, 2021

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! Brrr...it's cold here! We had a cold front overnight & the bottom dropped out. The temp never made it out of the 30's all day & w/ the stiff wind, it made it feel even colder. So I think this ice skating snowman is right in line w/ the cold weather.

In a weird twist of fate, this card turned out almost exactly like the picture I had in my head.  What's up w/ that? It almost never happens that way. Am I right? Anyway, I stamped the winter words w/ a lt blue ink, then stamped the snowflakes in a shade darker blue. Still light, but you can see the difference. Then I put it into my Misti & stamped the silhouette snowman several times w/ the denim ink. The umbrella was also stamped w/ the denim & I used B39 & N7 Copics to turn it into a silhouette. The greeting was die cut out of very dk navy using a couple of different die sets.
And here's the inside. I decided to make the front a little smaller so I could add a narrow navy layer so I used the part I cut off as a frame for the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
paper: Staples 110# white, dk navy
ink:  Adirondack denim, Rubbernecker Stamps Color Fuse ink set #7

Freezin' Season!

>> Monday, January 25, 2021

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you are staying warm where ever you are. We are having our coldest temperatures so far and may even get our first proper snow. We've had a mild winter so far and only have had minimal snow. My husband may have to get the snow blower out tomorrow morning! We'll see. So in honor of this bout of cold weather I have a couple of snowman cards to share with you.

This first card features the new silhouette skating snowman and the fun Freezin" season greeting. I started by stamping the snowman, as well as the greeting onto some watercolor CS with VersaMark ink and then heat embossing them with Hero Arts detailed white EP.. A Fawn Lawn border die was used to cut a hilly border to use as a mask. I sponged the sky in with a few TH Distress Oxides inks in blues. I used the lightest blue ink I had and sponged a little color onto the snow at the bottom. Some gesso mixed with water was used to splatter some snow onto the sky. After I completed this I kept looking at the card and thinking something was wrong. That's when I realized he was skating on snow and not ice! So I die cut an oval mask and sponged on some more of the lightest blue ink, making it darker for the ice. Some Nuvo Aqua Flow clear shimmer was added to the frozen pond.

This card uses the same greeting but this time it's paired with the Skating Snowman image. The snowman was stamped onto white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and die cut with a oval die. The greeting was stamped with Versafine Blue ink, heat embossed with clear EP and die cut. The blue panel was splatter with the same gesso mix I used on the first card. Didn't want it to go to waste. After I got this card put together I noticed a blue ink smudge on the greeting, so I added a die cut snowflake with a navy pearl to hide it.

Thanks for stopping by today. You can see all the new images, including the ones I used today, here.

In the Spirit of Halloween...

>> Sunday, August 23, 2020

What a great sentiment for Halloween to send to a friend. It works so well with any Halloween image and this SILHOUETTE HAUNTED HOUSE image is just perfect to create a fun Halloween card iwth the SPIRIT OF HALLOWEEN GREETING.

I stamped the Silhouette Haunted House image and sentiment and then sponged on blues and purples to color the card base. Next I added yellows to the moon and windows.

I love quick cards and especially love quick cards that can be mass produced for sending out to friends and family to stay connected these days.

Stay safe and thank you for stopping by to take a look at my card.

R.I.P.

Good morning!
Here are 2 more fun Halloween cards for you today.

The purple background was stamped with the Splatter Background and then the image background was sponged with Distress Inks using a torn paper towel to make the clouds.  I used the Misti to stamp the Silhouette Halloween 3 in 1 Tree to make sure it got really nice and black.  I stamped the fence, tombstone, ghost and bats after. The moon was just sponged, I added Stickles to the edges and then to the web and ghost.

The ghost background was sponged with blue and purple Distress Ink.  The graveyard and bats were sponged with the same but lighter.
I stamped the Graveyard on the ghost panel and on the bat panel.
I stamped everything else then die cut and mounted.  I stamped the ghost on vellum then glittered it and glued it on.
I used a scrolly embossing folder for the lavender background panel.

Thanks for visiting!
Robin

Frightful Tree đŸ˜³

 Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! Is it warm enough where you live? It definitely feels like summer here. The temps haven't been too bad (upper 80's) but the humidity is awful. We keep having afternoon thunderstorms so I don't imagine it will be feeling any better for awhile. We had scare last weekend when our a/c decided to call in sick. Really??!? A/C's don't get days off in July! Come on..you have ONE job! Thank goodness we found a guy to come out on Sat. & it was a minor fix.

My card today is pretty easy. I die cut a white panel then masked off an area on either side & sponged the colors inside the unmasked area. Put it in my Misti & stamped the spooky tree image a few times. Just to give it a little punch & imitate a layer, I added a couple of thin black strips on either side. Stamped the greeting & some bats & done!
Here's a look at the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Wishing You...

>> Sunday, July 19, 2020

When I saw this new tree stump image I had this card already designed. It is a great size to use as the full image or cut the image in half and frame any spooky sentiment.

I used SILHOUETTE HALLOWEEN 3 IN 1 TREE image and stamped half the image on the left and half on the right to frame this new FRIGHTFUL & DELIGHTFUL HALLOWEEN GREETING.

Once both the image and sentiment were stamped I sponged light purple in the center then a darker purple around the outside.

Cut the purple mat and layered on a black card base.

I can see using this image for several fun cards.

Thank you for stopping in to check out my card.

Spirit of Halloween ☠️

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! Are you in the mood for a little Halloween? Hard to say w/ the way things are going, if trick or treating will even happen this year. I saw a meme the other day  that said "with everything cancelled everywhere, I'm ready to put up the Christmas tree & call it a year". Maybe they're on to something.

For my card, I did a wrinkle free distress background using distress inks. When it dried, I used the splatter bg to stamp over it w/ gold ink & used gold embossing powder. Then I put the panel in my Misti & stamped the graveyard & crow.  Leaving the panel in place, I put the white layer w/ the oval cut out on top & stamped the grim reaper, took the white panel off & stamped him again. The tombstone & ghost were stamped on white & fussy cut.
Here's a look at the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
