Happy Father's Day

>> Monday, May 22, 2023

With Father's day quickly approaching I thought it was time for me to get in gear to get a few cards made for the dads in my family.

For my card today:

  • I used the TOOL BORDER - 379F on the tan card stock to create the circle behind the sentiment.
  • Next, I white heat embossed the RULER - 916H and just the Happy Father's Day from the NAILED IT! FATHER'S DAY GREETING - 114G on black card stock in white.
  • Once those were heat embossed, I die cut the sentiment and layered it over the circle layers.
  • The base is embossed with a wood emboss folder and the card was finished with a few black gems.

Are you ready for Father's Day? DRS Designs has some great images and sentiments to help you get ready.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Hello There

>> Thursday, May 4, 2023

Hello my crafty friends!
Today I've made a couple of fun cards, 1 birthday and 1 Father's Day.

This first card uses DRS stamps to create a fun Gnome scene.

Plan your scene then stamp the foreground first, mask.  You will need to pre-stamp everything on a plain piece of paper first to understand which images to stamp first then mask and keep stamping until you finish the scene then color.

Just add a few sparkles around the Happy Birthday.

My next  card is a Father's Day card with dad's favorite things!

I had these tool dies from ODBD so figured it was time to get the dust off of them!!
They work really well with my stamps.
I made this an easel card to give more room for the sentiment.

Thanks for visiting today!

Reel-y Good Day!

>> Thursday, April 20, 2023

 Hello there!

This is the time of year we start thinking about making Mother's Day and Father's Day cards, isn't it?,

I am sharing some Father's Day (or guy birthday cards) today, hope you like them!

I used DRS Designs: Fishing Birthday Greeting, Silhouette Fishermen, and Mountain and Treeline 2 in 1.

I used a previously made background piece then added some chalk pencils to the sky and lake for more scene creating.
The sentiment was cut up and I used a bit of dark twine to embellish.

My next card features DRS cute little Derby guy, Proud Catch Fisherman and O-Fish-Al Birthday Greeting

Even though both sentiments are actually birthday greetings, you could easily make either card a Father's Day as well.

Hope you like these and make some for yourself!!
Thanks for visiting!

Father’s Day

>> Tuesday, April 18, 2023

 Hi Everyone,

I'm a little early with my Father's Day card share, but if you love the fun greeting, this gives you plenty of time to order it for your own stamping!

The Nailed It! Father's Day Greeting is perfect for those handy dads out there.  I really respect and appreciate the folks that have that specific know-how, because that isn't me at all!

I stamped and die cut the sentiment, adding some sponging to match the base and Ruler.  I decorated the embossed gear themed background with some metal brads and added some tools that were fussy cut from the Tool Christmas Stocking to finish it off.

Lots of fun new stamps were recently released and you can find them all right here!

Happy Stamping!
Karin

Handy Father's Day Card

>> Wednesday, March 22, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends,

DRS is adding new stamps to the shop very soon and this new Nailed It Father's Day Greeting is one of them.  It works perfectly with tool dies or stickers or the Tool Border. I used it with a set of tool dies I recently purchased on Amazon and one of my very first embossing folders.

I also used an embossing folder on the tool box so it would look a bit more like wood.  Of course, I went over everything with my trusty Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink.

This is a super fun Father's Day card for any handy (or handy wanna be) Dad.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Hugz,

Nancy

Happy Father's Day

>> Sunday, June 19, 2022

I thought I would share this card for today to say Happy Father's Day. This SAILBOAT - 887F is perfect for any father in my family.

  • I stamped the SAILBOAT - 887F with memento black ink and colored with copics and added some light sponging for the clouds.
  • Next, the SMALL HAPPY FATHER'S DAY GREETING - 827B was stamped and I used some coordinating blue from the water to color the Father's word.
  • The black card base is embossed with an old Tim Holtz emboss folder on black card stock. I then used metallic rub on and my finger to add the copper to the raised portion of the compass.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my card.

A Friendly Note and Father’s Day

>> Tuesday, June 15, 2021

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of cards to share today, one for a friend and one for the dads.

I chose the Happy Mail image to pair up with the new Friendly Note Greeting, because the flower is cute and friendly!  The image comes with the words thinking of you on it, so I just masked them off, inked up the stamp and then removed the tape before stamping it, so that only the image remained.

The card base and the yellow layer were stamped using the Puff Circle, and the orange layer was dry embossed.  My die cut grass was stamped using the Easy Grass Background and it was attached at the end of assembly along with the greeting.

This one is for all the golfing dads out there, and that includes mine!

The background was made using an embossing folder and the Everything Golf Background.  I covered up the seam between the two papers with a strip of black cardstock and embellished it with a couple of metal brads.  I used the Especially Fore You Greeting and attached it to the card base.  For the image, I stamped and heat embossed the Silhouette Male Golfer, and used some post it notes to mask off the background, as I added ink to create the grass and sunrise.

Thanks for visiting the blog and visit DRS Designs for all of these stamps and more!

For those celebrating, have a happy Father's Day!  And for those who are missing someone, may the day land gently for you.

Hugs,
Karin

Splish Splash!

>> Thursday, June 10, 2021

Good morning!
I used a couple of backgrounds I had on hand today.
I usually always have a multitude of
spray or "dipped" backgrounds hanging around.
I use a combo of Oxide Distress sprays or pads and Dylusions
sprays from Ranger.

Today I used DRS Design stamps: Sailboat, 4 in 1 Ocean Designs,
The frame die is from MariAnne Designs.
I stamped the boats on the background then again on white paper, colored and fussy cut.
I used a white gel pen to add white to the birds and white caps.  I used a watercolor brush
to add a bit of water horizon.  Then added Stickles to the boat wakes.
The "Father's" in the sentiment is glazed.
I fussy cut the background around the frame also then matted with colors from
the background.

My next card features a stamp I haven't used before even though
it has been in my stash for a while!
I thought I'd add a generic everyday card that could be sent to anyone.
DRS Design stamps: Splash the Dolphin, Splish Splash and

I did the same thing on this background, I stamped on the background and
on white then fussy cute.  On the water I added white pencil, white
gel pen and stickles in a combination.  The places I put the stickles
made the color bleed back through (note to self!).

                                                                               Inside

Have a fabulous crafty day!!
Thanks for visiting!

Happy Father’s Day

>> Tuesday, May 25, 2021

 Hi Everyone,

June will soon be here! June means Father's Day, and Father's Day means time to make some masculine cards

I began by stamping the Silhouette Fishermen, and then used some chalk and post it notes to create the sky and water.  I chose to keep it small and simple, so I die cut and added a mat to the little scene.  I chose to use a compass embossing folder for my background and for embellishment, I wrapped it with some twine.  The Small Happy Father's Day Greeting was colored up to match and matted as well, using my circle punches.

A couple of newly released stamps can be seen on this card.  I love me a pun on a card, so I drew a music note onto the sign being held by Leonard, and chose to emboss the background using my record album embossing folder.

This was to match the new Friendly Note Greeting, which is being "held up" by the Push Pin stamp. I stamped it onto the greeting and then fussy cut the pin head.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit DRS Designs for all of these stamps!

Wishing you an easy breezy day!
Karin

Fishing Cards

>> Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Hi Everyone,

In honor of Father's Day, I decided to try my hand at making a fishing vest card.  Since I know zero about fishing, I Googled a fishing vest and tried to use what I know from making one of those dress shirt cards.

I began by cutting the paper into 4 1/4" x  8", scoring along the 8" side at 2" in on each side.  That created the flaps going to the center, and the math was much easier. I used a corner punch on each side, and along the bottom inside flaps and folded down the collar.  I stamped it using the Splatter Background stamp and used my tag punch for the pockets.  I added some stitching marks to those by hand, and then went along the edges with some green chalk.

Along with adding the greeting, I filled the pockets using some twine and fussy cut fish. I think the real fishing vests my have a zipper up the front, but I embellished with buttons.

The stamps used are:

Best Fishes Hook

3 in 1 Ocean Floor Designs

Big Mouth Bass

For my second card, I tried to keep my stamping to neutral, masculine colors.  I stamped and die cut the Fishing Square, lightly adding color and some sponging.  I attached it to a dry embossed background, which had an attached a piece of matching patterned paper, made using the Splatter Background stamp.

The sentiment is a portion of the Fishing Birthday Greeting and I finished it off with three metal brads.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to check out all of the great new stamps at DRS Designs!

Heroes!

>> Monday, June 15, 2020

Happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend and found some time to get creative. We have had some lovely days, which makes it hard to stay indoors. But having these fun new images and greetings from DRS Designs helps to keep me stamping!

The first card features the new medical bag image and Hero greeting. Both were stamped onto white CS, die cut and layered onto black CS. The medical bag was colored with copics. For the background I stamped part of the Thank you greeting with gray ink onto gray CS at an angle, trimmed it down and added it to a black layer. Before attaching the sentiment to the card base, I added some black baker's twine. A red rhinestone heart was added to the greeting.

With Father's Day this coming Sunday, I thought I'd share a card for dads. I used a Gina K wreath template to create my circle of footballs and basketballs with brown ink, colored the footballs with some Copics and added the square panel to a brown CS layer that was stamped with the four corner sports image using VersaMark ink. You are my Hero was stamped with black ink, die cut and a bit of brown ink was sponged along the edge before adding it to the center of the square panel. Happy Father's Day was stamped with Black ink and die cut with a banner die. I think the Hero greeting works perfectly for a Father's Day card.

Thanks for stopping by today. You can check out these new images at the on line store here.

blessings,
shelia

Father's Day Ship

>> Friday, May 22, 2020

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff
 Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! Hard to believe it's Memorial Day weekend already. Won't be long until Father's Day so I have a card for Dad today. I envisioned it like the inside of a ship, w/ a porthole looking out & a framed picture of the big catch & a stuffed trophy shark hanging on the wood planks. Apparently Dad's fishing boat is pretty good size!
I stamped the porthole, masked it then stamped the woodgrain bg w/ the brown ink & sponged it using the Distress inks. I added deeper lines & nails w/ a Copic marker then colored the frame of the porthole. For the inside, I actually die cut out the circle, stamped & colored the scene, then put it back. I used a few of the frames to stamp my portrait, greeting & backing for the shark & cut them out. After I attached them, I shaded underneath them to give them some depth. They're not popped up..they're flat to the background.

Here's the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Supplies:
paper: Staples 110# white
ink: Memento tuxedo black, rich cocoa, Distress inks antique linen, gathered twigs
accessories: Rubbernecker Rectangle Stitch, circle dies, Copic Sketch Markers

A Hunting We Will Go!

>> Thursday, June 6, 2019

Good morning!
My hubby and I are not hunters but I have family in Colorado who
bow hunt every year to fill their freezers.
This card was designed with my nephew in mind (although most of the family
bow hunt in Colorado).
DRS stamps used: Camouflage Background, Buck Bust and
The layers of circles are popped up.

This card is for the fishermen in my family here.  My hubby always wears either
camos, army green or khaki for fishing because he wants to blend in
so that he does not scare the fish.

DRS stamps used: Camouflage Background, Fishing Rules
Dropping You a Line, and Fishing Pole.
The corrugated stock was torn around the edges and then I applied Green paint with a dry brush and some white paint with a dry brush.  I used Walnut Distress to sponge the edges of the camo, the fishing rules sign and the corrugated stock.  All the images are fussy cut and the sentiment is cut with the nesting Spellbinder rectangles.

Thank you for visiting today!

Golf Frame

>> Friday, May 10, 2019

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! It's almost Mother's Day so I have a Father's Day card to share. I had a lot of fun making this one. The collection of frames gives you a lot of options to use a bunch of images or partial images & fill it in. You can either mask the frames & stamp inside or do like I did & cut out the centers of the frames. I knew I wanted Golfer Duff kind of in & out of the frame so it was easier to do this but cutting out the insides of the frames.
After coloring all the images, I arranged them inside the frames & stamped the greeting underneath. I had to cut around parts of Duff to fit him inside & outside the frame.

Here's the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend & Happy Mother's Day!
Supplies:

paper: Staples 110# white, X-Press It, dk green
ink: Memento tuxedo black
accessories: Rubbernecker Rectangle Stitch dies,  Copic markers
