Santa & Rudolph

Happy August! DRS is sponsoring the Tuesday Morning Sketch blog this week and the theme is Christmas! I chose TMS # 40 for my Santa & Rudolph card. Maybe Jolly Old St Nick can bring us some cooler temps. Wouldn't that be great?

I stamped one full image and one an extra arm with the sign. After coloring with markers, I cut out the the arm with sign and attached it on top of the base image. I used the out of the box technique and a square die to cut it out and attached it to a larger black square.

For the black strips, I stamped them with the snowflake background and white chalk ink. I used a scallop edge die for the bottom band and stamped the front of the 4.25 x 5.5 white card with the star background and platinum ink. I added a few embossed and cut out ornaments as a final touch.

Decorating The Tree!

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start! 

Here's another card I created for the Tuesday Morning Sketch Blog's 1st Birthday celebration.  I used the TMS Sketch #26  and the theme this week is Christmas!

This card uses 3 DRS Designs stamps: the Cutie Pie Christmas Helpers (M1141), the Merry Christmas Arc (E102) and the Interlocking Snowflake Background (H015). 

The image was colored with Copic Markers.  I masked the image and sponged brown for the flooring and blue in the background.  I added Yellow Stickles to the tree topper and the bulbs.  The side panels were decorated by stamping it the Interlocking Snowflake Background with white Staz On.  A paper poinsettia flower and some red rhinestones finished this card nicely.

Peace on Earth

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Traveling Afar, Find Peace, Hope, Love, Interlocking Star Background

Cardstock: White, Enchanted Evening

Ink: Versamark, Memento

Other: Stickles, Spellbinders Nestabilities

Here I used the beautiful 'Traveling Afar' stamp. I simply masked the frame around it to create the scene at the bottom of my card then used some detail black embossing powder and heat embossed the image onto the cardstock. And the 'Find Peace, Hope, Love' sentiment goes beautifully with this image. For the stars I simply  stamped some of the stars from the 'Interlocking Star Background', cut them out then used some gold stickles to give them the pretty shimmer.


And I used sketch #25 from Tuesday Morning Sketches and turned it on it side.

Tuesday Morning Sketches - Christmas in July

DRS Designs is sponsoring the final week of Tuesday Morning Sketches 'Christmas In July' Challenge. For this challenge you can choose any of their sketches from the last year and create a card using it. For full details, check out today's post on their blog.

For my card I chose to rotate and use Sketch #43 (shown at left). Instead of using paper and a scalloped border for the background, I stamped a scene of rolling hills and trees using DRS Designs' Triple Tree with Snow (L004) stamp.

I tied some burgandy lace around the front of the card and then the Spirit of Christmas Greeting (H706), which was stamped and matted with burgandy, was placed over it with dimensional foam. As a final touch I added three yellow gems in the upper right corner.

Tuesday Morning Sketch!

Using a sketch is one of my favorite ways to get my creativity going! I had alot of fun with this sketch. So much, in fact, that I made 2 cards for today!

My first card sticks to the sketch really close.


I used the new release XL Design Ribbon Slide (G141). I stamped the image and embossed it using some clear embossing powder. After I heat set the powder, I cut out the square and the ribbon slide portion. I threaded my ribbon thru the middle and tied a bow. I stamped/embossed the With Sympathy (F687) sentiment and added some sponging around the outside. Sympathy cards are hard for me to make. I am used to using bright cheerful colors and lots of embellishments on my cards but a sympathy card needs alot less to get the point across.

For my second card, I changed up the sketch just alittle bit. I used a sentiment as the main focal point and embellishments along the bottom. Here I chose a bright, cheerful color of orange!!


The sentiment is a new release called Song In My Heart (G202). I stamped the sentiment first and then cut/embossed using Labels 11 Nestabilities(tm). I also cut/embossed some Classic Heart Nestabilities(tm) and put those along the bottom, held in place by some heart shaped pearl brads.
