by Debbie Seyer - A Peek Into My Stamping Room

I don't know about you but I haven't had time to sit down and make anything for fun in a long time. So yesterday, I decided to sit down at my craft table and just have fun! Here are a couple of cards I made with that in mind!

If you are like me, you have jars and jars of eyelets just gathering dust! So when I got this funny Eyelet Sentiment (F735) I just had to make a fun card to go with it! The background is stamped using the Flyaway Hearts and Flowers stamp (P359). Then using my eyelet setter, I added some pink, yellow and purple eyelets. Some of the eyelets are even flower shaped! I really had fun with this! I think this card is perfect for someone who just needs alittle pick-me-up!

This next card is pretty simple. I used my Scalloped and Classic Hearts Nestabilities (tm) for this card.

I think the lovely Script Happy Valentine's Day sentiment (F357) should really be the star of this card! Its just so elegant and simple. My favorite! Hope you have found some inspiration to just go and have fun while stamping and card making!

Don't forget that DRS Designs is having a retirement sale! We are ringing in the new year by saying goodbye to some old designs and saying Hello! to all new designs! Be sure to check it all out HERE! Have a very Happy New Year!! Let's ring in 2010!

Heart Drops

>> Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Christmas is over, and I am officially switching gears to Valentine's Day cards! I just love this stamp called Heart Drops (#K344), so I decided to use it for this simple layout card today! I inked the stamp with Versamark ink, and then Memento Rose Bud ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder. Then each tiny heart was dotted with a Quickie glue pen, and glittered for sparkle.
Inside I stamped the Script Happy Valentine's Day (#F357) with Versamagic Jumbo Java ink, and clear embossed.
Today marks my last post as Guest Designer for DRS! :( Joining the team for November and December was a lot of fun, and I am glad to have had the chance to get to the know the other team members a little better! These girls all do a fantastic job of representing DRS Designs, and I will plan to keep coming back to check out their designs!

Happy stamping!

of pink and green, I have a quick and easy after the holiday, but still close enough to the holiday, gift bag!!!

Images by DRS Designs...

I used the giant poinsettia image and a simple "for you" sentiment. I used the same papers as my card from yesterday and the swiss dots embossing folder...one of my favorites!

I replaced the leaves on the image with silk leaves that resembled poinsettia leaves. The scallop frame is a Sizzix die cut. Some organdy ribbon, and I was done!

Did you check out Sue's post yesterday? She made an awesome, simple holiday thank you card. Prior to checking out her post for the day, I was hard at work making my own holiday thank you! My card, although a little more involved and in non-tradtitional holiday colors conveys the same simple message...thank you...for your generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness or just being there during this special time of year!

Images by DRS Designs...

I chose a simple sketch for my non-traditional holiday thank you. The base pink layer is pink shimmer paper...so yuumy!! I used my swiss dots embossing folder on my green panel. The new holly giga stamp made a perfect frame for the medium filigree snowflake (H1123). I considered adding jewels to the circles below the holly leaves, but instead I used my 1/16th in hole punch to punch out each hole. This scallop and the flake scallop are raised on pop dots. Some ribbon and a large frosted button, tied on with pink embroidery floss, completed the look. I cut my thank you out with the SU! word window punch. The "thank you" is actually part of this larger sentiment.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and have some new toys or at least some time to stamp before the end of 2009! We have some changes in store for you in this upcoming new year...we hope you will stop by often.

See you soon...

My Favorite Day

>> Saturday, December 26, 2009

by Sue

Welcome! Did you have a Merry Christmas? As much as I love Christmas, and I must for all the hours I put into it :) I think the day after has become my most favorite day of the year! I like to spend most of the day relaxing and catching up on my reading and movie watching. One of the other things I like to do is stamp my Christmas Thank You cards. I stayed with the holly theme that I used for my cards and gift tags. I also kept to the simple theme too!

I used our holly stamp F002 and our Multiple Thank You stamp H789 as well as Vivid Dye Inks in Vintage Green and Hot Red. A 6" piece of ribbon was all that was left to finish my card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you all!

Today I wanted to share with you the stamped Christmas cards I made to send out to all my stamping friends.

I created several Christmas cards of the same design in blue, red and green to change things up a bit.  I used DRS Designs Silhouette Snowman (K247) as the main image.  It was heat embossed with embossing powder mixed with ultrafine glitter, and the Small Merry Christmas Sentiment (B1014) was stamped in a coordinating color.

This was the first time I'd ever mixed embossing powder with glitter.  I had so much fun and I'm in love with the results!  Just look at all the shimmer this green snowman has!   Of course this worked so well because of the stamps sihouette design.  I'm going to play with DRS Designs other silhouette stamps after the holidays to use up my embossing powder/glitter mixes that I have left over.  Oh what fun I've discovered!

Hope you all a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

Smiles,
Jennifer

One Final Card for the Holidays

>> Wednesday, December 23, 2009

by Marisa

Can you believe it! Tomorrow will be Christmas eve! I am sure everyone is busy doing last minute preparations for the big feast with family and friends. I would just like to wish you all a JOYFUL MERRY CHRISTMAS and hope the the coming year will bring lots of happiness.

I have prepared one last card for this Holiday season. Background for this card was made using the Medium Filigree Snowflake. I first stamped the image of the snowflake on the plastic sheet that comes with the Stamp-a-ma-jig system. I then proceeded to stamp my first snowflake on the edge of my white cs with Pearlescent Sky Blue Brilliance Ink. Then I positioned the plastic sheet as a guide for my second snowflake as well as the Stamp-a-ma-jig and then stamped my second snowflake. I used this same method for the remaining snowflakes that I used for the background of my card. I used another stamp from DRS Designs for the sentiment which is the Yesteryear Christmas Greeting. This was stamped on white cs with the same ink used for the background then heat embossed with Opalescent embossing powder. Cut the sentiment using a square scallop die from Spellbinders, then pierced holes on each of the scallops and threaded the loops with Blue Scrappers Floss. This was then mounted on a shiny blue cs that was cut using the Fleur De Lis Pendant Die. Used some white half pearls on the center of 4 of the Snowflakes.

Once more before I finish this post - MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

To the Tropics

>> Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Christmas is just a few days away, and I've made all the Christmas cards I'm going to make this year! So for today I decided to whisk everyone off to a tropical island! Pull up a beach chair and join me on the sand! There are plenty of fruity drinks and we'll just put our toes in the sand, listen to the waves lap the shore, and watch these flamingos enjoy the water! I used the Fall-To Layout #72 from the Clean & Simple blog for my design.

Happy stamping, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Yes, I know Christmas is Thursday but right after that we ring in the New Year, so I thought I would share some inspiration for a New Years card. If you didn't have time to make holiday cards, this is your chance to wow your friends with your craftiness!!!

Images by DRS Designs...

I found this cool ribbon at Target in the holiday section. It went perfectly with the interlocking circles background and the focal image is a newly retiring image (hence the title of my post!!). You can check out all the retiring images from DRS right HERE. Don't delay though...you only have until the end of January to scoop them up! I have to say, there are alot of my favorites being retired but...that just means more room for more great designs by DRS!!!

Happy holidays!!!

Are you feeling guilty that you didn't get your Christmas Cards made??? Don't fret, you can still do them! Just keep them plain and simple (hint: not a lot of layers or coloring!)

I've been running around like a crazy person this week and my stamping has been on the run as well. However, my cards went so fast I was able to squeeze in a gift tag or two too.

You can see how simple my card and gift tag are. The only thing that I did different was to stamp off once while stamping the holly and berries on the gift tag. I'm really loving this Silhouette Holly this year. Anything that does the coloring for me is number 1 in my book! Once I added a couple of accents I was off and running to my next project and you can too!

Thanks for taking time out of your busy day and spending it with us!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

O Christmas Tree!

>> Friday, December 18, 2009

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

It's exactly one week until Christmas! Are you ready? I'm nowhere near ready and it seems like this year the days are moving at warp speed. Here's a cute little Christmas tree to get you in the mood to sing some Christmas carols.

For the Simple Decorated Tree (H010) I stamped it a bunch of times and cut the individual layers out and each one is raised above the one below. I colored it with markers and a water brush and attached it to a die cut oval. The oval has color sponged around the edge and I splattered the background with a paintbrush. The shiny ornaments were punched out of some red foil with a small hole punch.

The large background uses the same tree image stamped with a lighter green ink and I used a red marker to stamp just the star. The Tiny Merry Christmas (A21) was stamped and attached to tag I cut with a tag punch. I used a triangles border punch on the red strips because it reminded me of Christmas trees and I added some paper piercing above and below the center strip.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!!

By Debbie Seyer - A Peek Into My Stamping Room

There is only 8 days until Christmas! Wow, that went by really quickly, didn't it? There are a few more days to get out those hand-made Christmas cards. Here are a couple of quick cards that I made to send to family and friends. You can see these cards in my sample gallery on the DRS Designs website. Matter of fact, all the talented designers have their very own gallery on the website. If inspiration is what you are needing this is a great resource to use. You can check the Sample Gallery out HERE.

My first card is pretty simple. I used a wonderful sentiment (Yesteryear Christmas Greeting) on the front of the card to convey my Christmas wish and then on the inside I will put a cute picture of my family and a hand written note.

Now this second card is for a select group! Everyone has that someone special in their life that this card would be the perfect Christmas Card! I know just the person to send this to and he will definitely get a kick out of it! DRS Designs has the best selection of sentiments that I have ever seen and this one just makes me chuckle!! The sentiment is called 4 Stages of Christmas.

Since the next time I will blog here is after Christmas, let me take a minute to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. May you and your family remember the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the birthday of Our Lord, Jesus Christ together with much love and togetherness!

Snowpeople are the cutest!

I am so sorry that my post is late. I thought it was Tuesday! Yikes! But now that I know it is Wednesday, the weekend is much closer! LOL!

Here is a sneak peek of our new Snow Lady. Isn't she adorable?!? I love the snowflakes on her hat and the eyelashes are too cute! I used one of my favorite color combinations: pink, apricot, and pumpkin.

I used Copic markers to color the image and and SU marker for the greeting and dots on the scallop. Additional accesssories include: Martha Stewart snowflake punch, SU scallop edge punch, and dimensionals
Technique: out-of-the-box

I just love the latest round of snowflakes that DRS Designs released a couple of months ago. I used the medium filigree snowflake (H1123) on this card. I have to say, I am really pleased with the way this card turned out!!!

Images by DRS Designs...

I was thrilled when I discovered that this image fits perfectly in the mega scallop square punch! This card was so quick and fun to put together. I simply stamped three images, punched them, adhered one to a giga scallop square punch and placed them on my card front like diamonds. A simple holiday sentiment and jewel centers and I was done! Another card that could be easily reproduced for your holiday card making list! Not to mention it is easy to mail! No heavy or bumpy embellishments that will cost you extra postage.

Are your holiday cards done? Are you looking for a new way to spruce up your envelopes? Check out these two new address label stamps recently released by DRS. I used the tree address label on my projects today and you'll see the snowflake label in another post!

As you can see from this photo....

you could stamp the image on the front of your card and/or on the back. You can fit an avery label that you print on your computer or you can handwrite your address in the labl space. So easy and fun! What a way to impress and surprise your friends when they open their mailbox!

You don't have to use your label stamp just on envelopes either...check out the cute place card for your holiday table. You could also replace the name with a food that you might have on a table at a party so people know what they are eating!!!

Making place card couldn't be any easier! Just stamp your image, layer and adhere to your base. I simply used a border punch on one edge and added some ribbon, buttons and a snowflake punch to finish things off. The trees also have some dazzling diamonds on them for some snow sparkle.

Did you know that DRS has a ton of other emvelope art images? Check them all out HERE!!!

... to hand make your Christmas cards this year. If you do it the quick and easy way. If you've read my posts before you know I like nothing better than a quick and easy card (that doesn't look it of course!)

My card today falls into that category. . The Christmas Tree Punch Star M900 is stamped and embossed in gold, then colored in bright Christmas Red and gold markers. I didn't score the back to make it really "pop out" but I did wiggle it a little as I sat in front of the TV to make it pop just a little.

The background was stamped on ivory card stock using Vivid Brown for the Simple Berry Branch P301 and Happy Holidays G725 sentiment (I colored the berries the same Christmas Red as the star) and I used a Vivid Vintage Green for the Pine Boughs K467. I also used a crumpled piece of paper towel and rubbed on a little Vivid Taupe and Peach dye inks amongst the pine. You don't even need to layer it on red as I did. Just stamp a folded ivory card and then attach the star!

True Reason For the Season!

>> Friday, December 11, 2009

Posted By Jennifer E.

As materialistic as Christmas has become, it's important to remember the true reason for the season. DRS Designs Nativity Ornament image (K526) depicts this reason perfectly! On this Christmas card, I've paired it with the "Christmas is Joy" sentiment (G828) which coordinates so well with this image.

I colored the ornament image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. I added yellow Stickles over the star and added a bow tied with gold DMC Embroidery thread at the top of the ornament.  The background was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, and I added 3 gold brads as accents.

As you can see I've created this card in non traditional Christmas Colors.  This isn't something I normally do, but I ran out of  red cardstock.  So, I thought I'd also set myself up for the challenge.  I was a bit weary at first, but I'm happy with it's simple design and the way this card turned out overall.  I will, however, be shopping for more red cardstock very soon, LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today!
May you & your family have a wonderful Holiday Season!
Smiles,
Jennifer

Christmas Showcase

>> Thursday, December 10, 2009

Posted by Jessica G.

Need some last minute inspiration for Christmas cards? I've used a few great images in different ways to showcase their versatility. Here are a few of my favorite DRS Designs holiday cards for this mailing season:

Stamps by DRS Designs: Santa Handmade for Christmas F133, Four Stages of Christmas G129, Easy Dot Background H628. Cardstock: Soft Sky, Old Olive, Real Red, GP110 whit, Doodlebug glitter white. Ink: Memento Black, Real Red, Old Olive. Accessories: gingham ribbon, Martha Stewart snowflake punches, Circle and rectangle Nestabilities, white flocking.

This Santa image is actually a portion of a 'Handmade by' stamp, masked off to showcase the jolly old fellow. I added flocking to make his beard and hat trim touchably soft:

The next card's focal point is a combination of a mailing label (trees) and sentiment:

Stamps by DRS Designs: Winter Trees Address Label Frame H106, Serve our country at Christmas D530. Cardstock: Night of Navy, Real Red, GP110 white, Doodlebug glitter. Ink: Always Artichoke, Night of Navy. Accessories: Stardust glitter pen, red dotted organdy, circle and rectangle Nestabilites.

For this sweet Christmas mouse, I used the Large Open Plaid on a diagonal for a candy cane effect:

Stamps by DRS Designs: Candy Cane Christmas Critter E134, Holly Giga Circle L120, Merry Christmas Arc E102, Large Original Plaid P641. Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Real Red, GP110 white. Ink: Memento, Copics, Real Red, Certainly Celery. Accessories: Giga circle punch, SU scallop border punch, red glitter pen.

Happy Holidays!!

Christmas is Just Around the Corner

December 9, 2009

In just 15 days it will be Christmas Eve. There is just so much to do to prepare for the Holiday Season. One of them is sending off those much awaited Christmas Cards to family and friends. Well just in case you haven't sent those cards yet (yikes!!!!!!), here are 2 cards for you to get inspiration from.

This first card uses 3 DRS Designs stamps, Super Sweet Christmas Greeting, Triple Holly and the Holy Punch Giga Circle. The Super Sweet Christmas Greeting was stamped on white cs with Onyx Black Versafine Ink and then cut in a circle using a Coluzzle Circle. This was mounted on a green cs that was die cut using a scalloped circle die from Spellbinders. Then the Holly Punch Giga Circles was stamped on white cs using Garden Green ink from Stampin Up. Added some Candy Cane Stickles on each of the tiny circles. This piece was mounted onto a red cs that was die cut with another size of scallop circle die from Spellbinders. The Holly leaves were stamped 2x on white cs with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, colored with Copic markers and cut all around the edges. Punched the bells with holly leaves on the 4 corners on the white cs base, adhered double sided tape to the back of then and then carefully added some red, green and gold glitter to the punched images.
For the second card, I once more used 3 different stamps from DRS Designs. The Holly Hurricane was stamped 3x on white cs with Onyx Black Versafine Ink and colored with Prima pencils. Used some Gamsol to blend the colors in. Cut out the images in different sections and mounted them one on top of the other with double sided foam tape to form 3 different layers. Used some Clear UTEE on the hurricane lantern to give it the look of glass. The Large Stained Glass stamp was stamped on white cs and colored with Prima pencils and colored were blended with Gamsol. Added some Clear UTEE once more for this image. Used the Small Merry Christmas stamp for the sentiment.

I hope you all enjoy the upcoming Holiday Season.

Season's Greetings! I have some wintery trees to share with you today on my snowy card! This image, the Line of Winter Trees is so gorgeous in it's simplicity, don't you think? The background piece is embossed with the Cuttlebug Snowflake folder, and then I spritzed it with Silver Metallic Glimmer Mist. I've noticed a lot of simple, white-on-white cards in my blog browsing lately, so I thought this image would be perfect for my own version. I hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Snowman for Christmas

>> Monday, December 7, 2009

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Monday! Christmas is coming and that makes me think of snow. It actually did snow just a tad northwest of me on Saturday, so here's hoping!

The Simply Snowman (G383) was stamped on twice on white. One image was masked and I stamped the Snowflake Background (H187) and embossed with a transparent sparkle powder. I added some snow on the ground with a white glitter ep. On the second image, I stamped the Snowflake Background again on his scarf using red and green markers, cut it out and attached over the base image. This was cut with a circle die.

The Holly Giga Circle (L120) was stamped using the same markers and cut with a larger circle die then both were edged with the red marker. I stamped the Merry Christmas Arc (E102) with red ink onto a white background then used a Swiss dot embossing folder. The lower rectangle has the Three Trees w/ Snow (L004) green embossed and cut with a long rectangle die that I resized to make a little shorter I cut around the top of the center tree to insert my Snowman circle under it. All pieces were edged with a red marker and a piece of folded ribbon was added. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 inches (A2).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Think Snow, y'all!
