Happy Easter

>> Thursday, March 31, 2011

Well it's hard to believe, but soon it will be Easter and tomorrow we are expecting another snowstorm! Last Easter it was so warm we had dinner on our screen porch. I guess this year we will be sitting with our down parkas! This is one of the new releases from DRS for Easter! it is "Easter Daffodil Oval" (663L). I colored the flowers with copics and cut out the focal image with an oval nestie, mounted that on a beaded oval nestie. I dry embossed the white cs. I added some sheer ribbon around the oval and there you have it! Thanks for stopping by today.

Three Chicks

>> Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Hi Everyone,

I showed this card off on my blog a few weeks ago, but I thought I would post it here, since it's what inspired me in the decorating of my canvas bag on today's post here at DRS Designs.  The card is pretty self explanatory, but I love it because of that darling little chick!  How can you not love that face? lol.

Since I loved the card, why not use the idea for a matching gift bag?  I stamped the chick on adhesive backed felt and then cut them out.  I stamped the bag with the grass, chicks and sentiment and then adhered the chicks to the bag, just as if I were paper piecing them.  A few beads tied on to the drawstring finished this off.  Here are the links to the DRS Designs stamps I used:

Where can you get these canvas bags?  Well, right here of course.  At DRS Designs!

Have a great day :)

Easter!

Posted by Jennifer E.

Happy Monday friends! Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! I was busy in my stamp room this weekend and one of the cards I created was this Happy Easter card for today's post.  Are your Easter cards done yet?  One of the best things about this card is that it looks really involved, but honestly since I had colored the image previously, just putting the layout together didn't take me long at all!

I colored the Easter Daffodil Oval (663L) with Copic Markers.  Even though daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, I get bored coloring them yellow all the time.  I thought they looked pretty in pink! There are pink daffodils in real life, right? LOL! Hopefully so, but if not, I'm really happy with the soft pastel colors on this card!

I created the card front using light yellow cardstock, and stamped the Blooming Easter Greeting (660F) in the upper left corner. Then I embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder and added 2 score lines between the sentiment and the embossed dots.  To add a bit more decor to this card front, I created a small vertical panel from pink cardstock that I matted with blue and then added 2 yellow brads and yellow plaid ribbon.  After adhering it to a pink A2 cardstock base, I was done, and so pleased with the results!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Monday!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Look Mom, no paper!

Welcome!

Have you ever looked at trash and thought "Gee, I could make something out of that!" ?

Back in December after opening all those wonderful Christmas gifts, one box really stood out. The clear plastic front was twice as heavy as normal and didn't have many scratches, so I just had to save it :)

Well, I finally got to put it to good use this week - along with some left over paint that came with a "paint your own ornament/suncatcher" kit! You can't get more green that this project!

To start with, knowing I was going to emboss I coated my plastic well with some embossing magic powder, then stamped our new Spring Flower Suncatcher using Stazon Jet Black ink. I heat embossed it using clear powder and then I was all set to paint.

Using the leftover "glass" paints, I let the paint drip off my brush to fill in all the sections and let it dry for an hour or two. After cutting it out (and cutting the center section out too) I added a hole in the top, attached a jump ring and some yellow ribbon.

In no time I was hanging it in a window to take a picture!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to check your trash!!!

Just a friendly note...

I made a quick card for today.  I cut an oval with CM oval system and stamped DRS Designs silhouette branch in black.  Layered with black border.  Next, I stamped our Friendly note sentiment, layered onto black and put on dimensionals.  I colored the flower with coal shimmerz paint and used a silver SU! brad for its' center.
Happy Spring everyone!

Happy Friday!
Have you been enjoying the first few days of Spring? We've been having a back and forth kind of weather. One day kind of warm, the next day much cooler and very windy. The dogwoods and azaleas are starting to bloom as well as cherry and crab apple trees. So pretty!

For my card, I thought I'd use some spring colors and add a few butterflies. I did a tutorial last week on the Delft Tile background I used for my background. The sentiment was stamped on vellum and the first time I used the Kpad but didn't think it was dark enough. So I lined up my SAMJ (stamp-a-ma-jig) and stamped it on top with the indigo ink. The little pennant banner was created with a small triangle punch and the left over parts from a lattice border punch. I used a few more of the triangle punches to help attach the vellum to the background. The finished card measures 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Faith Open Heart Greeting, Silhouette Branch Background
paper: white, lt green, lt blue

Happy Easter

Today I have another Easter card for you from DRS Designs. I just love pink and green together.
I had fun embossing these Double Cattail Eggs (517K) with detail white embossing powder on pink and green cs.
Even though there are two eggs I used them separately.
I added the newly released one line Happy Easter greeting (665B). I added a flowery pink ribbon and placed the eggs on white diamond dry embossed cs.
Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Spring Time Canvas Bag

>> Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Hi Everyone!

I'm so happy to be able to share my sweet spring time bag I made using one of the canvas bags that are for sale in the DRS Designs store.  These bags are the perfect size for treats or small gifts.  Heck, after decorating the little bag, it too becomes a gift :)

I used the Woven Plaid stamp and created the background using a light blue ink.  I then used the Single Fall Tree stamp, stamping right on top of the background in brown.  The tree needed some leaves and blooms since it's spring, so I chose some pink and green buttons and sewed them on by hand.  I also sewed on some lace along the top, just by hand, and it gathers itself when the drawstring is pulled shut.

A couple of rows of half pearls finished the bottom. I'm so pleased to have unique packaging for my niece's Easter gift this year.

What will you make with your canvas bags?  Pick some up at DRS Designs today.  And, if you love a great challenge, DRS Designs is the sponsor of the Forever Friends Challenge that runs until April 3rd.  If you participate, you have a chance at winning a $10.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store!

Have a good one :)

Snapdragon Draggin'!

Posted by Jennifer E.

Well, it's official now...Spring has sprung! After the Winter we've had this year, I'm sure you're all ready for the nicer weather just as I am. I now feel it's appropriate to share cards I've made with flowers....Sharing them during the cold and snowy Winter months just didn't seem right!

For example, here's a funny birthday card I made awhile ago using the Snapdragon Diamond image (008H) from DRS Designs. I stamped it twice and colored both images with Copic Markers and then layered one on top of the other for dimension. I split up the Snapdragon greeting (012G) into 2 parts to fit better with my layout. A decorative border punch, ribbon and some rhinestones made this card complete. Hope you like it!

For those of you who love challenges, DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's Forever Friends Blog Challenge.  Click on the link to run over and see how you could win a $10 DRS Designs store voucher as soon as the challenge is posted!

Happy Spring to you all! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Triple Cross

>> Sunday, March 20, 2011

Welcome!

Not only are the crosses "triple" but the whole card turned out that way too! After cutting my white cs to 4 x 5 1/4 I stamped our new Lead Me, Guide Me stamp 3 times on the top left side. Then I stamped off once before I stamped the next 3 times, and stamped off twice before stamping the final 3 times. Next I stamped our Triple Crosses using lavender ink in the bottom right corner and then stamped the crosses on scrap paper, once using purple ink and a second time using turquoise ink. I cut them both out and adhered one of each color on top. I added a little sponging around the outside edges and adhered the whole thing to a folded plum card!

Happy Saturday!  I am having fun in the sun for my daughter Bailey's Spring break.  Actually, I am sitting in the shade:) in Florida!
My card for today uses the Spring Flower Suncatcher from the new releases at DRS Designs.  I stamped it on white paper, colored it with ink and blender pens and fussy cut it out with an exacto knife.  So unlike me!  This is the best I've ever been able to cut with this knife.  I used some yellow chunky glitter for flower centers and a little bow to finish it off.  Embossed the green layer and added a few gems.
Colors:  apricot appeal, pretty in pink, lovely lilac, garden green, certainly celery, orange.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday!
Aren't these little ducks just the cutest image ever? I couldn't resist using them with the new Easter greeting. After stamping and coloring them w/ markers, I used the woven plaid image on a separate piece of white first w/ the Distress inks and on another piece using green markers. I stamped the flower and leaf on top of the plaid, cut them out and paper pieced them over the base image.

The background was also made using the woven plaid and Distress inks. I used a little border punch under the greeting and added a sheer bow in the upper right. The button was made using a die and I also stamped the woven plaid on the top one. The finished card measures 4.25 x 5.5.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Hi There...have you checked out the newest addition to the DRS Designs online store? They have these nifty bags for sale now! If you are a long time online/catalog/Rubber Mania Monthly customer, you already know about these bags, because you used to receive some of your stamp purchases in them. Well, DRS has decided to sell these bags for you to get crafty with. All the DRS designers have been busy at work to provide you with ideas on how to use these bags. Check out my idea below and check back in some older post AND look for ideas in upcoming posts.

I used the new celtic knot image on my project...

I stamped the image in forest green staz-on ink. I added a button and jewel in the button center. I added green ribbon in the same "channel" as the pull string that came with the bag. Some beads dressed up the ribbon ends. The bag is filled with lucky gold coins, just in time for St. Patricks Day!!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

>> Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Hi Everyone,

I had to make one more St. Patty's Day card, so I thought it would be a quickie since the holiday is in a couple of days!  You can check out all of the newest stamps at DRS Designs, but for this card I used one of my favorites, the Celtic Knot,  to make my patterned paper.  The Small Beer Mug made a great focal point on this square card and I stamped the sentiment (Happy St. Patrick's Day) on all four sides.

I added a bit of distress ink along the sides to finish it off.  Clean and simple, but I love it.

However you plan on celebrating the holiday, hope it is safe and happy!

Working On Canvas!

>> Monday, March 14, 2011

In our recent package of goodies from DRS Designs the DT was given a challenge. Each member was given several cute canvas bags to stamp up. Talk about a challenge!! It took me about two weeks to get the courage to start thinking out of my comfort zone-anything but a card and my brain has a tendency to freeze up and my creative mojo goes elsewhere! Considering the size of these bags, they are not too much different than working on a card front-they measure approx. 6.5" x 5" when completely flat and have a drawn string closure. Once I put my mind to it however, the ideas came to me rather easy.
I then took the plunge to see what I could come up with.

This fun, St. Patrick's Day goodie bag was the outcome of my first brainstorm attempt. I began by first stamping Sean and the Rainbow (L521) with Momento ink and coloring it very lightly with Copic Markers.  Next, I stamped the One Line St. Pats Day Greeting (636D) below the image and then stamped the Shamrock Background (326H) all over to fill the empty space with SU! Handsome Hunter ink.  Since there's always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, I thought it would be fun to fill my bag with chocolate gold coins, and besides, who doesn't love chocolate!?!!?
I was so happy with the result that I created a matching card to go with it.

What would you create with these fun canvas bags?

Smiles,
Jennifer

Everyone's wearing green!

>> Sunday, March 13, 2011

Welcome!

I can't believe St. Patrick's Day is Thursday!! This year is flying by :) The best part is that spring is not far behind! Yeah!!

I have one last St. Paddy's card for you today,

The background was stamped on white using our Silhouette Clover and 3 different green inks (Vivid brand Spring Green, Green, and Vintage Green). Our new Paddy Bear was stamped on white using black ink and colored in. I only cut close around 3/4 of the bear and then used my paper trimmer to cut out the box that I then stamped with our new St. Pats Day Greeting using green ink. I rounded the corners and added the yellow layers and attached all to a folded green card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful and safe St. Patrick's Day!

Easter Daffodil Delight

>> Saturday, March 12, 2011

Happy Saturday to everyone in blog land!  Our weather here in Colorado has been splendid the past few days.  Thursday it reached 70 degrees and has stayed nice since then.  Another soccer morning!  My daughter's high school team won their first game on Thursday and my MacKenna scored both goals!  I am a wee bit proud!
As the weather is so beautiful, it got me dreaming of the daffodils popping up.  I used our daffodil frame 104P and the new One Line Happy Easter 665B.  I stamped the image, colored it with SU! markers and blender pen, stamped the butterfly again and paper pieced it.  Added some orange glitter to flower centers.  Used pear pizzazz seam binding ribbon and a button.  The main image is on dimensionals.
Papers:  brocade blue, white, hazelnut tan from MFP's
Ink:  black, daffodil delight, only orange, marina mist for sky, pear pizzazz, crumbcake
I hope that everyone has a beautiful day and wish my dd's high school team good luck this morning!

Take care,

Pam

Irish Coin Bag

>> Friday, March 11, 2011

Happy Friday!

Have y'all seen these terrific little canvas bags on the DRS Designs site? This is what I did with one. I thought it would make a great little bag to put these gold wrapped chocolate coins in for St. Patrick's Day. I wanted the coins to show through, so after opening one of the seams, I used a square die to cut the window in the front. The shamrock circle was stamped and colored w/ pencils on the cut out square, then I used two circle dies to cut the wreath out.

The gold mesh was stitched around the edges to a piece of acetate then the circle was stitched on top. I stitched the mesh onto the open square along with the narrow gold ribbon around the edge. The Celtic knots, shamrocks and greeting were also stamped and colored around the front. After stitching the side seam back up, all that was left was to add a little charm and bow and fill it w/ the gold coins.

If you haven't seen these little bags, head on over to the DRS Designs site and grab some. They are so much fun!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies for Canvas Bag:

Shamrock Circle, Celtic Knot, One Line St. Pat's Greeting, Four Leaf Clover, Clover Sprig
ink: Ancient Page coal

Blooming Easter

Hi Everyone...we're almost there. One week closer to Spring!!! I have some springy colors for you today, and here is my card...Images by DRS Designs...

I thought these colors would make a great Easter card. I used two new releases by DRS Designs. The new blooming Easter greeting was perfect with the new Martha Stewart flower punch. This punch is different...not sure about it yet! It is supposed to emboss and punch but you must have to have super human strength to get it to emboss!!! Here is a close up shot of the layered flower...

I stamped the new spring flower suncatcher on the light blue panel in light blue ink. Such a springy, pretty image. A fancy border punch, some jewels and ribbon finished things off.

Thanks for checking in...

Color Challenge

>> Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Hi Everyone,

It's Karin posting a card today in support of the color challenge we are sponsoring at The Drunken Stampers Challenge Blog.  It's a combo of Purple, Teal and Orange!  If you play along, you have a chance at winning a $10.00 voucher to the DRS Designs Store.

I took break from Easter cards here at the blog and and made a general thinking of you kind of card. My base purple is a deep color, but it looks navy in the photo (it's not) and I embossed the teal background to play off of the swirls of steam from my coffee cups.  Here is where you can find the stamps I used on my card today:

I also embossed the image with rainbow embossing powder and the orange sponging is done using chalk.

You can also see the rhinestones are teal in this shot.

I hope that you make time to play along and link up your card at Drunken Stampers for your chance at a $10.00 voucher to the store!

Have a great day!

Easter's On It's Way!

>> Monday, March 7, 2011

Posted by Jennifer E.

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way! Are you ready?
I almost am and to prove it, I have 2 Easter cards to share with you today.

I created this first card for this week's color challenge at the Drunken Stampers Blog.  DRS Designs is their sponsor this week and we want to see what you can do with the colors teal, purple, and orange!  You could win a $10 store voucher to DRS Designs just for playing along.

I used Copic Markers to color the Butterfly on Eggs (533L) image.  Since this is an Easter card, I decided to use the pastel version of the challenge colors.  I really like the soft look.  I created a tag using the One Line Happy Easter sentiment (665B) but split it up so that the 2 words were on top of one another to fit on the tag.  I created the background by stamping the Interlocking Flower Background (813H) and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.   A few teal brads finished this Easter card off nicely.

I took a break from playing with DRS Designs new Easter images on this second card and brought out an oldie but goodie, you might say! This Praying Bunny image (407L) is one of my favorite stamps from DRS Designs.  I colored it with Copic Markers and used the masking technique to sponge blue ink around the image creating the sky. Every now and again I'd ink blue around a small portion of a scalloped circle to shade in clouds. Next, I stamped the God's Love Easter Greeting (974F) in the empty space above the image. Then the image was cut out and layered using Nestabilites. I created the background by scoring lines in both diagonal directions on my Score Pal and then using a decorative corner punch on all 4 corners. A olive green cardstock base was created measuring 5" x 4.5," and I used 4 yellow brads and an olive grosgrain bow as the only embellishments.

Easter is about 42 days away. If you need some inspiration to get your Easter cards completed, make sure to take a look at all of DRS Designs great Easter stamps HERE. I know you won't be disappointed and you're bound to find something you love!

Happy shopping and Happy stamping to you!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Drunken Stampers Challenge-I love you in teal, lavendar lace and orange!

>> Saturday, March 5, 2011

Good Saturday!  My daughter has her first high school scrimmages of the season today!  I hope all goes splendidly.
This card was made for the Drunken Stampers Challenge which can be found here on their blog. DRS Designs is awarding the winner a $10 voucher. It is a color challenge of teal, purple and orange.  I used taken with teal, lavendar lace and only orange....added some bermuda bay ribbon, a beautiful dragonfly charm from MFP's with white embroidery thread.  I stamped the beautiful Flowers with fence image and colored with SU! markers in above mentioned colors.  Sponged the sky with teal.  I fussy cut between the fence posts for some odd reason and placed old olive behind image so it shows through.  My sentiment
I Love You!  is quite handy!
Head on over to the Drunken Stampers Challenge and give it a go.......you might just be a winner and get to buy some fun stuff from DRS Designs!

Have a great day!

Easter Egg Oval

>> Friday, March 4, 2011

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope you've had a terrific week! I'm showing you some new DRS Designs Easter images along with an Easter egg must have image. After stamping, coloring and cutting out Mr. Big Bunny Head, I attached him to a die cut circle of yellow which I added some sponged on orange ink. On the large white die cut oval behind him, I stamped the various 4 egg images. The outline and open pattern eggs were stamped in black and the solid and solid pattern eggs were stamped with various colors of the rainbow pads. I used a large fancy shaped oval die for the next layer and sponged the orange ink on the yellow c/s again.
On the front of the 5.5 x 4.25 white card, I stamped opposing corners w/ the small flowers and added dots w/ the black micro pen. On some white scrap c/s, I made large circles w/ the black Glaze pen and when dry, I punched them out w/ the 2 hole punches and added them to the ends of the yellow/orange fancy oval.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

>> Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Hi Everyone!

I have a very traditional card to show you today.  I really cheated when making this card the other day, because it's a layout that I have used a million times at Christmas, only then I used an evergreen wreath.  It's so classic though, that I figured it had to work for this great Shamrock Circle from the new releases at DRS Designs.

I stamped my card base using Lines O' Plenty ( Great name for a stamp being used on a St. Patty's Day card, don'tcha think? ;) ) a fantastic all around background stamp.
I stamped the wreath in Versamark and clear embossed it.  After it cooled, I went in with my Copics and colored the little shamrocks.  The Happy St. Patrick's Day can also be found in the new releases.  Here is a close up of the shiny embossing...

Lastly, I tied the wrinkle ribbon in a bow, and added it with a glue dot just as if it were a Christmas time wreath.

Well folks, it's finally March! Yay!  Are you ready for the next round of holidays?  Be sure to stop by DRS Designs to check out all of the holiday stamps...Have a good one!
