Painting Poinsettias
>> Wednesday, August 23, 2023
Hello Crafty Friends,
Don't you love learning new techniques?
I have been learning the Wet on Damp Watercoloring technique covered in THIS YouTube video by Anna Bucciarelli. I thought it would be great on a stamped poinsettia so I stamped the DRS Designs Giant Poinsettia on my paper a few times, and then watercolored it all with Daniel Smith Watercolors. When the petals were still damp, I extended the viens a bit. I have a long way to go before I get this technique down, but I am still loving the results. Plus I did this on regular Heavyweight Paper from The Paper Studio and it would have been much easier on watercolor paper.
I finished the card off with a lightly sponged Merriest Wishes Greeting.

I love the effect of the water coloring. Gorgeous blue on this card too, it really makes the red in the poinsettias pop. I am going to have to check out that video when I have a minute in my craft cave.
So impressive Nancy!! I used to think watercolors were mostly pastels, but your vibrant blue background reminds me again just how vivid they can be!
First, I hope you are feeling better!!!
Your card is beautiful, what a lovely job you did painting your flowers!! I love the colors too!
Oh Nancy! I so need to make some holiday cards before I get overwhelmed! This one is lovely! Those big flowers are just sensational against the blue background and the sentiment is perfect!
