Stenciled Background

>> Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Hi Everyone,

The challenge this week here at the DRS Designs blog is "Hot Trends-Stencils" and I had so much fun making the first card, (you can see it on the challenge post), that I wanted to try again.  I had this Spellbinders Impressibilities metal stencil named Diamond & Stars, which I originally bought to use for dry embossing.  However, I'm so used to embossing folders giving me a deep, crisp look that I didn't care much for this when I tried it.  It's too subtle for my taste.

So, when this challenge presented itself, I pulled the metal stencil out again.  I decided to try a gradient look, and started off sponging ink in a light pink, working my way up to red at the bottom.  When I was done, I crossed my fingers as I pulled away the stencil, and what do you know?  It worked :)   I stamped the Ribbon Heart in black pigment ink and heat embossed it with rainbow embossing powder.  I think if you click on the photo, it might show up better.

I stamped and die cut the new Valentine's Full of Love Greeting and added to my card along with some gem flourishes and pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you join us for our Stencil challenge right here!
