Not so Scary Scarecrow

Happy Friday!

I hope your week has gone well and you have some fun plans for the weekend. I remembered that I forgot to put my Halloween wreath on the front door. Problem is, the Christmas wreath is still there. I kind of feel like one of the big box stores who put all their Christmas merchandise out around the 4th of July. That Christmas wreath was really pretty but it's looking a tad worn and sun beaten now. Oh well. Looks like I need to make a new one. I say make, because I saw some pretty ones in the store...but even at 40% off  (yeah, "full price" is not in my vocabulary) they were still over 150 buckaroos. OUCH! That's just too much stamping stuff I'd have to give up, lol.

While I was contemplating the Christmas wreath dilemma, I made an autumn scarecrow card. For a scarecrow, he's pretty cute and I think even the crows in my back yard would like him. If he sat out there as long as my Christmas wreath did, the crows would come to know him. It's true...crows have fantastic face recognition capabilities. The crow family here knows me on sight but scatter like the wind if anyone else is out there. You'd be amazed at how smart they are and if you haven't seen the PBS documentary A Murder of Crows, I highly recommend it. (It's not scary...and I don't know why a group of crows is called a "murder" by there you go.)

I made the leaf background, using a bunch of chalk ink colors from 2 little queue stacks and the Med. Silhouette Leaf Open Leaf. I used a texture plate on the rust bg & a bracket border dies on the olive green center panel & on the ends of the maroon horizontal panel. I also stamped the olive panel w/ a wheat stalk image using one of the gold chalk inks. I had to resize the long rectangle around the scarecrow and also do a little out of the box Nestie with him. The autumn word was fussy cut and added on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
