Happy Mother's Day!

>> Sunday, May 8, 2011

Welcome!

We here at DRS want to wish all of the Moms viewing a Happy Mother's Day!! Relax, Enjoy and take some time for yourself today! And if you're not a Mom, we'd like to say Happy Day! Relax, Enjoy and take some time for yourself today!

My card today is for the newest Mama I know ~ Many people in our wonderful stamping world know about Marco's Papers (if you don't, you might want to check them out!). Well recently, Marco's have a new helper to train the stamping way! Bryden Michael Ihle, was born Thursday, April 28!

This is the card I made to send to my friends Karen and David at Marco's celebrating the birth of their 2nd grandchild!

Now, onto my card - I will say, I love how the ribbon border came out, but I'm gonna have to love someone an awful lot to do it again!

At this point I'd like to give my sister and co-worker Samantha a few kudo's! A month ago or so she sent everyone on the Design Team a 'centering ruler'. If you haven't heard of one before, let me tell you how easy it is to not only use, but to mark of even sections. After laying mine on my card I quickly made sure the same number was on the left and right and then used my pencil to make tiny marks to punch out using a 1/16" hole punch. It was the threading of the ribbon that took me FOREVER! And of course it was AFTER I threaded the ribbon I decided I wanted to add the green sponging ( I really recommend doing it first :) To finish up I punched out the giga scallop oval and sponged it too, then stamped, colored and cut out my Jenny Giraffe stamp and added his bow. I stamped part of our Baby Greeting using turquoise ink and taped it all together!

Thanks again for spending part of your day with us!

Sue

This is absolutely adorable. Your little giraffe is too sweet with the fun bow. And can I say, OMG ..... love how the ribbon is threaded through the card.

The ribbon border is so cool and well worth the extra effort! Need to file this idea away for myself ;) Also, blue and yellow is one of my favorite color combos too!
