Decorating The Tree!

>> Saturday, July 31, 2010

Posted By Jennifer E.

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Here's another card I created for the Tuesday Morning Sketch Blog's 1st Birthday celebration.  I used the TMS Sketch #26  and the theme this week is Christmas!

The image was colored with Copic Markers.  I masked the image and sponged brown for the flooring and blue in the background.  I added Yellow Stickles to the tree topper and the bulbs.  The side panels were decorated by stamping it the Interlocking Snowflake Background with white Staz On.  A paper poinsettia flower and some red rhinestones finished this card nicely.

Please join us by participating in this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge and use your favorite past sketch to create a Christmas card.   For your participation you will be entered to win a gift certificate from DRS Designs.  You can find all of the details and link your card up HERE.
Thanks for stopping by!
Smiles,
Jennifer

Christmas In July at Tuesday Morning Sketches!

>> Friday, July 30, 2010

By: Dawn Knight
Ahhhh... Christmas in July!!! I love the idea of snow and shopping and cozy fireplaces! I also thought that this peek into a Christmas Scene would be perfect for for this theme! I used an embossing folder to make the siding on my house and then I stamped and colored the image. I used a square punch to make the grid and I attached an acetate sheet to create the window. The "snow" is a punch and here is my scene!  Thanks so much for stopping in and be sure to check out Tuesday Morning Sketches!

Happy Birthday TMS!

Welcome!

Have you been to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to wish them a Happy First Birthday? They've been celebrating all month long and this week it's our turn to help! Click here for all the details!
Their theme for this week is "Christmas in July" and I just couldn't resist using some of our "Newer than New" new stamps!

These Christmas stamps will be available in the next few weeks on our website - keep checking in and we'll let you know when!!!

Once again I had my niece helping me in my stamping room and she picked out this sketch for us to use.

The 3 panels were made using our upcoming Jingle Bell Background, and our new Jingle All the Way stamp is the perfect compliment. When we put all the layers together the green layer was missing something, so we pulled out our Vicki's Versatile Background and got stamping using green dye ink. Some silver ribbon, gold cord and 2 jingle bells finished it off!

Stay tuned for these and more new Christmas Stamps!

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace on Earth

Hi All!! Jenny here...

DRS Designs is sponsoring the final week of Tuesday Morning Sketches 'Christmas In July' Challenge. For this challenge you can choose any of their sketches from the last year and create a card using it. For full details, check out today's post on their blog.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Traveling Afar, Find Peace, Hope, Love, Interlocking Star Background
Cardstock: White, Enchanted Evening
Ink: Versamark, Memento
Other: Stickles, Spellbinders Nestabilities

Here I used the beautiful 'Traveling Afar' stamp. I simply masked the frame around it to create the scene at the bottom of my card then used some detail black embossing powder and heat embossed the image onto the cardstock. And the 'Find Peace, Hope, Love' sentiment goes beautifully with this image. For the stars I simply  stamped some of the stars from the 'Interlocking Star Background', cut them out then used some gold stickles to give them the pretty shimmer.

And I used sketch #25 from Tuesday Morning Sketches and turned it on it side.
Make sure to check out the challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches and play along for your chance to win some DRS goodies!

Thanks for stopping in!

:) Jenny

Tuesday Morning Sketches - Christmas in July

by Alicia Ekermans - Call Me {Crafty} Al

DRS Designs is sponsoring the final week of Tuesday Morning Sketches 'Christmas In July' Challenge. For this challenge you can choose any of their sketches from the last year and create a card using it. For full details, check out today's post on their blog.

For my card I chose to rotate and use Sketch #43 (shown at left). Instead of using paper and a scalloped border for the background, I stamped a scene of rolling hills and trees using DRS Designs' Triple Tree with Snow (L004) stamp.
I tied some burgandy lace around the front of the card and then the Spirit of Christmas Greeting (H706), which was stamped and matted with burgandy, was placed over it with dimensional foam. As a final touch I added three yellow gems in the upper right corner.

Don't forget to check out the challenge post and play along - you could win some fabulous DRS Designs goodies!

Heartfelt Condolences

I hope your week is off to a great start! Just so you know, today is the last day of our DRS Sketch Challenge.

Here is the sketch ...

Here are the prizes you could win...

This is the card I created using the sketch.
It's never a good thing to need a sympathy card, but it is a necessity from time to time. I feel it's better to make one when I don't need it because it's usually just too hard to think about it when the time comes that I DO need it.

The images and fonts are just lovely in this month's New Releases and cover the needs of many different types of sympathy cards. For mine, I wanted to keep the colors soft and soothing so it's done entirely in white, cream and a soft butter yellow. I stamped the cross once on white and once on cream, cut out the inside of the white one and attached on top of the cream outline. Markers were used to color all of the lilies.

After stamping the sentiment on the bottom of a white panel, I used a large dot embossing folder on it. I used the smaller Swiss dots on the narrow white and also the large cream panel. A black marker was used to give definition to all of the edges. I attached a narrow flower punched strip at the bottom of the cross panel, a cut out corner lily and made a faux brad for my tab. Stickles was added to the flowers.

Here's how to enter the sketch challenge:
Create a card or other papercraft creation using the sketch above. DRS Designs stamps are not required, but if you do have some we would love to see you use them for the challenge. Enter a direct link at the end of THIS post in the InLinkz box. Thanks so much for stopping by!

For this card I have used the new release:Lily Sympathy Cross (314L) and 1Line Sorry for Your Loss. However, I made a two line greeting by stamping the sentiment twice, by coloring the stamp with markers, using half the stamp each time. I colored the cross and flowers with copics and added a little ranger glitter to the centers of the lilies.

Here is a close up of the lilies.

There is still time to play! Check out the sketch challenge here. Would you like to see the prizes:?

Good day! Bonnie here again and before I show you my card I want to remind you that there are only a couple of days left for you to enter into our sketch challenge!! Take a look at this post to see the sketch and what fabulous prizes you could win!!

I have already used the sketch on these two cards here.....so this week I switched it up a bit since I wanted to colour up this image! I haven't had time to colour lately, since we have been harvesting  wheat, but FINALLY it is done.....so onto the colouring yay!

I used two of our new July releases for my card today - Pet Angel Group and Loss of Pet Sympathy Greeting.....We all know how attached we can get to our dogs and cats....and rats.....and reptiles, so it is always nice to know that othesr can empathize with you when you lose one of your little furry friends!

Using my glue pen, I added a bit of glitter on the halo's and then added some beautiful bling alongside the sentiment!

Thanks for coming around today!!

Hi Ya'll!
Jennifer back again today to share with you another card I made for DRS Designs sketch challenge currently underway.

This card uses the Cowboy Garb (K1121), the In the Accessories sentiment (D155), and Vicki's Versatile background (H369).  I colored the image with Copic Markers and used Post-It Notes to mask the image and the edges.  I then sponged red ink around the image and the masking created the white frame around it.  The panel that contains the sentiment was embossed with the Cuttlebug Paisley Embossing Folder and Vicki's Versatile background was stamped using Vintage Photo Distressing Ink.

Won't you join us and play along?
Please see the sketch, prize details and photos, and the Inlinkz feature on THIS POST to enter your sketch challenge card for a chance to win some great prizes.  Deadline for this challenge is 11:59pm on Tuesday, July 26th.

Thanks for visiting today!

Jennifer

By Debbie Seyer - A Peek Into My Stamping Room

Hello everyone! Hope you had a great weekend! It's pretty hot here where I live so I spent some much needed time in my crafting area working on some cards using DRS Designs new releases!

Have you made a card using the Sketch Challenge yet? Here is the sketch:

You can link up your challenge card by following this link. There are 2 prize packages to win, so you better get busy!! Here is my card!

I stamped the new release Lily Sympathy Cross using Versamark ink onto some teal cardstock. Then I added the silver embossing powder and heat set. The image is so detailed and beautiful, isn't it? I cut/embossed the image using a Labels 8 Nestabilities. I added a strip of silver cardstock cut/embossed using the Fair Isle Borderabilities and some ribbon to complete the sketch. The along the bottom I stamped the Heartfelt Condolences sentiment using teal ink. I added some brads to complete the card.

I hope you will take the time to participate in the DRS Designs July Sketch Challenge! It's a great sketch! I can't wait to see what you make!!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for visiting us today at the DRS Designs blog and I'm finally posting the card I promised I made using this sketch from our current challenge.  The challenge is open until 11:59 p.m. on July 26th, so there is still plenty of time to play along.  Just click here to link up your card for a chance at 2 fabulous prize packages!

This is the sketch...
Here is my card made with the Golf Frustration stamp that was released this month.  I paired it with the stamp of the Silhouette Golfer, so I decided to use the emboss resist technique.

I used a page of type from an old thrift store book, (The Three Musketeers actually, although that story has nothing to do with golf ...lol!)  stamped the golfer using Versamark, and heat embossed with clear powder.  Next, the cool part.  Simply sponge ink all around and over the embossed image.  Such an easy technique with a bit of a wow factor!
Lastly, I used the Easy Grass background to tie the whole golfing theme on the card together.

What are stamps are you playing for in this sketch challenge?  These are the packages being offered to two lucky players!

What are you waiting for?  I want to see your creativity!

Have a great day,
Karin

Doggie Dilemma Sketch Challenge

>> Saturday, July 17, 2010

Hi Everyone, Jennifer E. blogging here today!

Today I'm showing off my challenge card for the DRS Sketch Challenge.  As you can see from the sketch, I changed it up a bit to accomodate my focal image by just switching the purple and gray panels on the sketch.

Isn't this Doggie Dilemma stamp (H254) adorable!?!?!?!  This poor little guy definitely needs some support to get through that fence! LOL!  That's why I thought the Thank You For Your Support Greeting (E335) went well with this stamp.  Both of these stamps are new releases.

I colored the image with Copic Markers and masked it so that I could sponge blue ink around the image.  Of course, the Thank You For Your Support greeting is all one stamp, but I chose to split it up in order to make it work for the layout on this card.

We'd love for you to play along as we look forward to seeing your version of our sketch.  Here's a reminder of the 2 prize packages that we're giving away to 2 lucky participants! The 2 winners who are randomly chosen will get their choice of either package! Each package contains 6 stamps that you could get for FREE!

Beach Package

-OR-

Golf Package

Make sure to link up your challenge card on this post using the Inlinkz feature to be considered for one of these great prizes!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Smiles,
Jennifer
