Remember Shaker Cards?

Today Cathy and I decided to do a blog post together. We decided it would be fun to make a shaker card. It's been a long time since I have made one but I will say having a die cut machine really gives you alot of freedom in the size of your Shaker and size of the image you can use. If you need directions for how to make a Shaker Card you can go to Splitcoast Stampers to see a tutorial.
Here is Debbie's Butterfly Shaker Card:
The image I used is one of my favorites. Such a delicate and beautiful butterfly. I stamped the Butterfly On Eggs (L533) in black ink onto white cardstock. I colored it in using Copic Markers. Inside my shaker, I put some Flower Soft & glitter. I didn't use a sentiment on the outside because I wanted the stamped image to really shine. I dry embossed the yellow layer and punched the edge using a lace punch. After attaching my ribbon, I put everything together. When I am need of a really special card, I will stamp a DRS Designs sentiment inside. The wide array of sentiments that DRS Designs carries is amazing. You should check it out along with all the great releases for this month!
Cathy here!!! I was very excited to work with Debbie on this post...when she suggested working together I jumped at the chance!! I too, have not made a shaker card in quite a while and I'm not sure I really want to remember my last attempt at one!! I think (for now!) that this one came out ok...I know I could have made a simpler/easier shaker box but...I never seem to end up on the easy road!!!
Here is my creation...using more new releases by DRS...I love these fuzzy sheep and thought they would make great baby cards in addition to Easter!
Isn't that a cute sentiment too? I stamped it on my green panel and then again on a scrap of purple and cut out just the heart. It is adhered with a pop dot. I did some machine stitching to give it a homey/baby look! As far as my shaker...I used my giga scallop punch and my Creative Memories circle cutter. I would have liked the scallop in the center of the kraft circle but since the punch wouldn't allow for that I was stuck with a retro circle and decided to make that work!!! The inside is filled with some baby confetti from the Target dollar spot from a while back and some pastel seed beads!
This was a fun challenge!! Thanks so much Debbie for suggesting it! I hope you give shaker cards another try!!! If you do, come back and post a direct link to your creation so we can check it out. I know I'll be looking for new shaker ideas in the future!
See you soon...
