Getting a jump on St. Patrick's Day

Welcome! I know it's not even Valentines Day and I should be thinking hearts and flowers but I was in the mood for a little green, and that of course means St. Patrick's Day. And what goes better with St. Patty's Day than plaid?

I started my card by working on the plaid. There are several different plaids that can be made using P631 (You can check the out the diamond plaid at http://www.drsdesigns.com/ or create an easy plaid by stamping your first color horizontally and a second color vertically). I started mine by stamping a "plus sign" in the center of my light green paper using vintage green ink.

After cleaning my stamp, I re-inked it using black dye ink and stamped it above the horizontal lines. (Hint: It's much easier to line up the plaid with the lines that are already on your card if you stamp above your first stamping.)

At this point my plaid could have been finished but I wanted to add a little extra pizzazz, so I used a ruler and a gold paint pen to add gold lines in the more open portions of my plaid.
After adhering my plaid to a black card I started working on my next two layers by stamping H326 Shamrock Background on celery cardstock using clear ink and gold embossing powder. I colored the open shamrocks with a dark green marker. I layered this with metallic gold paper and attached it to the left side of the plaid.
I stamped K461 Irish Blessing Oval ( this is one of our brand new stamps that will be available on Wednesday) on white using clear ink and gold embossing powder and popped it out using a giga scallop oval punch, then dry brushed on a bright green and vintage green ink and colored the shamrocks using a medium green marker. I layered this with a black mega scallop circle and attached to my card.
Last but not least I stamped the inside using stamp H447 and clear ink and gold embossing powder. I also randomly attached several gold and green heart punch outs.

Thanks for stopping by -

The DRS plaids are some of my favorite stamps -- what a great idea to accent the plaid with a touch of gold! Great sentiment, too. I can't wait to play with the new stamps!!
