Happy Friday!
How many days till Christmas? Doesn't matter how many...it's never enough to get everything done! I had stamped and colored (with Copics) this wonderful Holiday Fireplace a few days ago, but hadn't been able to put it all together to make a card. Then Thursday, the challenge on Splitcoast was to use bleach. I love using bleach, and then it clicked! I had a scrap of this brick red card stock and I thought, hmmm...I wonder how it would look to stamp the Candles Galore w/ bleach? I think it worked out well! Then I thought, hmmm...I bet it would look pretty good w/ an embossed brick wall on the other side. So I inked the embossing folder w/ the sand ink before I embossed the white c/s.

Then I thought, hmmm...this greeting goes really well w/ this scene but how can I make it fit? So I played it w/ it a while until I figured out that splitting it was the only way I could make it work. In the end, I think it all came together fairly well. Funny where one little idea from one little challenge can lead you.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the DRS Thursday Challenge...SNOW FUN! There are fab prizes and it's so easy to enter, so check it out!

Have a great weekend!

Pretty in Pink

>> Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Welcome!

Well, I'm not sure, but I think I'm shopped out :(  Between Black Friday and now Cyber Monday my credit card has gotten quite the workout!  It was a nice relief to sit down and stamp my card for today!

I'm normally a pretty traditional kinda gal, but there's something about this Bubble Candle stamp that I really like and red and green just didn't seem to be jazzing me, so this is what I ended up with!

It was pretty straight forward, I stamped our new Bubble Candle in a medium grey ink and colored it it in the lightest colors I had.  For the background I stamped our Easy Dot Background in pink on pink and the sentiment is actually part of our Christmas Multi Greeting, which works in 2 ways, you can use it as a background or you can pick out one sentiment and just ink and stamp it like I did.  I added a few jewels on the starbursts and a blue bow and it was time to say goodnight!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out our new Challenge starting tomorrow!

Funky Christmas Tree

>> Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Hi Everyone,
DRS Designs is the sponsor this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches and here is the card I made using some of the newly released Christmas stamps.

The Ho, Ho Ho greeting and the Funky Christmas Tree are brand new, and I used the
Interlocking Snow Background and the Woven Plaid to make my custom papers. In the photo below, you can see how I fussy cut the tree layers and attached them with pop dots.

I added rhinestones for the ornaments and I used a glitter pen to embellish the star on top. That tree is totally cute, if I do say so myself :)

Are you up for winning some prizes?  We have another day or so to go on our Turkey Challenge here at the DRS Designs blog and you can check out the sketch and link up at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog here.

HO, HO HO!

Happy Cyber Monday!

>> Monday, November 26, 2012

Hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving! Are you still eating turkey and stuffing?  We are! I don't usually like leftovers, but there's something about the Thanksgiving leftovers - they're just as good the second and third time around!

Today my card features the just released Silent Night greeting and the small nativity scene as well as the Silent Night sheet music. Everything is stamped in silver on blue card stock and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Heat embossed Christmas cards are so pretty to me and fairly easy to create!! I made a card very similar to this last week for the Merry Monday Challenge. I really like this layout!

After stamping the sheet music image I cut the image into 3 banners and layered them on a white panel that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. The sentiment and small nativity image were cut with nesties and layered on white. Some silver half pearls and silver ric rac were added to complete the look. Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by. And if you haven't up loaded your "turkey" card, you still have time to play in the latest DRS Designs' challenge. We'd love to have you join us!

Until next time,
shelia

Candles Galore

>> Sunday, November 25, 2012

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and is ready to start the Christmas season. DRS designs as some beautiful new Christmas stamps. The one that I am sharing with you today is the Candles Galore stamp.

I stamp the Candles Galore on white card stock with black ink and colored them with E53 and E00 Copic markers. A Spellbinder Die was used to cut out the image and the green layer. I punched the pine branch from brown card and add Polar White Flower Soft. The Poinsettia flowers were made with a Spellbinder Die with silver micro beads for the center. I embossed a piece of white card stock with a Holly embossing folder and attached  to a green card.

Have a Happy Day,

Janett

Good New Release Day! I hope that everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving and you are enjoying the weekend.  I had a wonderful time with friends and family.  Today, my husband and I prepared dinner for our closest friends...a rather impromptu idea, but it turned out great.  Nothing better!
We have new holiday stamps out today, so hurry on over to the store and start shopping! Christmas time is here! I used the New Christmas Lamp Post, 1 Line Christmas Blessings and the classic Giant Poinsettia....all colored up with pearlescent water colors and the background was sponged in baja breeze. The sentiment was popped up on a dimensional.

Have a lovely day!

The Merriest Merry Christmas

>> Friday, November 23, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Or should I say Happy Black Friday Shopping! Did y'all study all the ads, get out your walking shoes and set the alarm for too early o'clock?? Yeah, me neither! Well maybe I'll do a bit of shopping but I'm not getting up at the crack of dawn.

So now that the Thanksgiving feast is down to leftovers, that means the Christmas season has officially begun! Some of my neighbors already have their lights up, ready to turn on.  I don't know why I can't seem to get with the program. I expect a knock any time, asking me that very question, lol. Are y'all ready for some new Christmas images? I'm showing off a couple of the new releases. Isn't that one fine lamp post? I love it! And the greeting is actually a two part-er. The rest says "and the happiest Happy New Year" so I put that part on the inside since I could only fit this much on my little die cut label.

For the rest of my clean and simple card, I die cut a couple of flourished holly out of the green then used the negative, or leftover part for my background. The large white frame was also a leftover from cutting a larger label shape out for another card. In order to just stamp the part of the sentiment I wanted, I used markers to scribble onto the image then stamped them. The lamp post was colored w/ copics and cut out. I just love the traditional Christmas colors and festive look of the sentiment and lamp post.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend and please check back tomorrow for the DRS Designs New Releases!
Supplies:
stamps: DRS Designs - New Releases coming tomorrow!
paper: white, green
ink: Memento tuxedo black
accessories: Copic markers, Holly Flourish die (Cheery Lynn), Spellbinders labels 18 dies, Tombow markers (to stamp the sentiment)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Since we are celebrating the big turkey holiday today, the "Turkey" challenge from last week has been extended.  So feel free to continue to link up your projects on this post, for a chance to win a $10.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store.

Today's card was made with the holiday in mind.  Even when things are rough, it's good to reflect on how much we have to be thankful for in life.

Here are the stamps I used to create today's card:

Silhouette Branch Background (I love how it matches the cross.)
Sunflower Trio (Colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.)
Material Maker Square (Really unique background stamp!)

Hoping you enjoy the day with family and friends!

Thanksgiving Leaves

>> Wednesday, November 21, 2012

With all of the Thanksgiving preparations underway, I was looking for a quick and easy card to make for today's post.  The first line of DRS Designs Thankful For the Little Things Greeting (071H), "Leaves of red, orange, and gold," inspired me to create something with leaves to use with it. I decided on a wreath made out of leaf punchies for the focal design on my card front. I thought since I didn't have to color an image I could get it done quickly--wrong! Punching all those little leaves and trying to arrange them in a circle probably took me just as long to do as coloring an image. However, my frustration slowly went away as I saw how elegant this card became with a little distressing, some matted layers, a border punch, some craft glue, and a beautifully tied bow!

I hope each of you has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!
 Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Thanksgiving Wishes

>> Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Another fall themed card coming your way at the DRS Designs blog!  I don't know about you, but I love the rich colors of autumn :)

I used two stamps to make my background for this card.  One was the Medium Silhouette Leaf that I stamped in different fall colors, and the new Open Leaf stamp which I stamped on top using brown ink.  That's what gives them the outline and the veins.

I decided to play off of the fall colors, and after stamping the Hayrides Harvest Greeting, I highlighted the words in coordinating colors using my Copic markers. Finally, I used the Material Maker Square stamp which was inked in a deep yellow ink, and stamped the  Scarecrow right on top with a brown ink.

Some brown gem flourishes and ribbon were my finishing embellishments.

Thanks for dropping in today and don't forget, all of the most recently released stamps from DRS Designs can be found right here!

Happy Thanksgiving!

>> Monday, November 19, 2012

Wow I can hardly believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Where has the time gone? I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating this holiday.

I have two cards to share with you today. The first one is a card I made for my son and daughter in law for Thanksgiving.

I started with a pumpkin colored base and then added the white panel that was stamped with silhouette branch background in Pumpkin Pie ink. On the left I added a panel of white layered on the pumpkin card stock after stamping it with the new checkerboard background. I stamped the sentiment in black on a pendant and then stamped part of the silhouette branch in pumpkin pie for some added interest. The flower is from my stash. Some dew drops were added to finish it off.

My second card is a sneak peek at a soon to be released Christmas stamp. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and I love creating Christmas cards, especially with new stamps!!

First I stamped the woven plaid background in Real red on the red card base. The Santa and Reindeer was stamped in Memento black on white card stock. The new Christmas Lamp Post (238H) was also stamped on the same panel. I colored in the Santa and Reindeer image with copic markers. The lamp post was stamped a second time on white, colored with copics, fussy cut and attached over the original image with glue dots for some dimension. The holiday lights were stamped on white, colored with copics and cut out and layered on green before attaching them to the card. I really like the festive look of this card.  Hope you do too!

Be sure to check DRS Designs for the new releases this weekend!!

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the holiday this weekend and I hope you find some time to stamp!!

until next time,
shelia

Be Thankful

>> Sunday, November 18, 2012

Hi all, I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is only 4 days always. I have so much to be thankful for, a amazing family and great friend with them I can face all that life can through my way.

For my card today I used the Be Thankful Cross, Silhouette Branch Background, and Design Dot’s.

I stamped the Be Thankful Cross and used my Copic markers to color the image. A oval Spellbinder die was used to cutout the image, I sponged the edges with the image still in the die. This was layered onto another die cut. On Kraft paper I stamped the Silhouette Branch Background and the Design Dot’s was stamped and filled in with Buttercup Liquid Pearls. This was layered onto green card stock and a white card.

I hope all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Janett

Thanksgiving Blessings

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is having a wonderful time in preparation for Thanksgiving....I am so grateful that I am able to craft and do what I love AND to have awesome people around me supporting my craft addiction.
I used two new stamps: long tall cattails and Thanksgiving blessings greetings.  I used a heather base, copper metallic paper which I embossed with a musical score folder, orange paper and early espresso as a mat.  The cattails were embellished with sparkly fluff.
I hope that you all enjoy a blessed, peaceful Thanksgiving.

Hugs,

Pam

In a Nutshell...

>> Friday, November 16, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? I am sooo NOT ready.  A day of shopping, a day or so of baking and cleaning up then a day of cooking and eating. Are there enough days till then? I can't see a lot card making in my future so I'd better get busy now!

So one more fall card before we skip on into the official Christmas season. I should probably mention that some retail establishments apparently do not own a calendar. I saw one particular craft store that had several full on Christmas isles on the first day of Summer!! That means June 20th! Come on...really??

For this card I combined the In a Nutshell sentiment w/ the Happy Fall Y'all greeting. I stamped the first one onto a die cut piece then added both the Silhouette Leaf and Open Leaf. I stamped another open leaf and a Fall Leaf w/ Acorn, colored them w/ copics and cut them out. For the background color, I used an acrylic block and pressed it onto a rainbow ink pad, misted w/ water then stamped. I sponged a little extra ink around the edges of the big panel and added some dots of gold Pearl pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Supplies:
stamps: In a Nutshell, Happy Fall Y'all, Open Leaf, Silhouette Leaf, Fall Leaf w/ Acorn
paper: white, moss green
ink: Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves, Memento rich cocoa, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Pumpkin Spice
accessories: Spellbinders labels 1 & 8 dies, pennant dies, Copic markers, gold Pearl pen

Fall Flowers

>> Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Welcome!

Is it me or is Thanksgiving insanely early this year?  I can't believe it's only a week away!!  Luckily I had a little help last week in my stamping "room" so I'm a little ahead of the game!  That said, if you look at my card today and think "Nice coloring!!"  please address all your compliments to my niece Krissy.  Out of all my nieces (I have 7.... and 8 nephews too!) she's been my biggest stamping helper.  And now that she's reached the grand old age of 14, I can safely hand her anything and not be shocked by the results as you can see by her excellent job on the Pumpkin Bouquet

My part was easy - I stamped our new Checkerboard Stamp using purple ink and then stamped it again in the "holes" using vintage green ink.  The background in back of the flowers was made using our new Material Maker Stamp and orange ink and I finished up by stamping Happy Fall Y'all using more purple ink.  Easy peasy as they say :)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget you have this last day to participate in our Candles Challenge and please stop back tomorrow to see our winner and to see what our next challenge is!

Fall Apple Trio

>> Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Hi Everyone,
One of my favorite things about fall is definately the apples. I love to get them from the orchard and make a pie or two. One year my friend taught me how to can, and we put up more than a dozen jars of homemade applesauce. It was that time spent in the kitchen at her home that inspired my card today.
I colored up my stamped Apple Trio image from DRS Designs with my Copic markers and cut it out with my Spellbinders dies. I decided to use that same image for my background as well, so out came some of my Martha Stewart white embossing powder. I think using that same silhouette image along the bottom of the card looks really cool.

The new Checkered Background stamp looks just like a tablecloth, so I thought it added to the whole kitchen-y vibe of the card. A punched border, some over sized brads and the Happy Fall Y'all finished it off.
To check out the rest of the newest stamps, just click here :)
Have a great day!

Give Thanks to the Lord

>> Monday, November 12, 2012

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the food and family time, but I really enjoy the time spent reflecting on everything I have for which to be thankful! For me this sentiment says it all!!

My card base is a dark pumpkin color with a layer of white that was stamped with the new Long Tall Wheat  in More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie inks. I sponged some More Mustard and Antique Linen along the bottom for the ground and then some Bashful Blue at the top for the sky. A picket fence was added with the punched pumpkins. The sentiment was stamped in Pumpkin Pie on white, cut with a pendant die and layered on a scalloped pendant. I colored some clear dew drops with a Copic marker before attaching them to the upper right hand corner with glue dots to finish the look.

Be sure to check out all the new releases at DRS Designs! Plus there's still time to join in this week's challenge. We'd love to have you join us and show your cards featuring candles!

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

Happy Fall Y'all

>> Sunday, November 11, 2012

Hay Ya’ll, hope your having a good weekend. It is beautiful here. Nice cool nights and warm sunny day’s, that is until Monday when the rains come back. Oh well I guess we need rain. I have been working on some Christmas projects but what I have today is a fall card. It uses the new Long Tall Cattails and the Happy Fall Y’all by DRS designs.

I punched a circle from a post it note to make a mask then sponged Wild Honey all over the card. Then I stamped the Long Tall Cattails and colored them with Copics. I remover the mask and sprayed a little Perfect Pearls over the top. I stamped the Happy Fall Ya’ll   then cut it out with a Spellbinder die and wile it was still in the die I sponged on some Antique Linen.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett

Fall Sympathy

My card today was made for my husband's stash at work.  I have started making cards for his office.  He told me they don't "have to be so fancy". So hard not to add embellies and stuff!  I am so happy with how this turned out. I started with a piece of white paper and using acrylic paints, painted in this order a thin layer of  modern red, terra cotta and then butterscotch.  I dried it with my heat gun and then stamped the cattails in noir black and painted celery with acrylics on the leaves.  The stems of the cattails were painted with mushroom and lastly, the cattails were done with sparkly fluff.  The sentiment was stamped in noir black.  The poppy parade layer was embossed with the dot folder.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Be Thankful

>> Friday, November 9, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

With Thanksgiving very near, I'm reminded of how much I have to be thankful for in my life. Sometimes daily life gets in the way and I tend to take things for granted. I hope to do better to remember and be thankful everyday.

The white card was sponged around the edges to give it the rust color. On a separate piece of white, I stamped the fabric bg a few times in each quarter section w/ different colors then over stamped it w/ the wheat, cattails and leaves. I did the same w/ the main panel bg after die cutting, but I left the die in place  to have the light border. I added a cut out leaf and acorn on either side of my Be Thankful cross.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the new releases HERE.
