Birthday Balloons

>> Monday, April 30, 2012

Trust everyone had a great weekend! Today I want to share a birthday card that features balloons. I think balloons are so festive and perfect for birthdays!

The card base is green CS with a layer of yellow and then the white panel that's embossed with the CB Birthday folder. I added a strip of green CS and then attached the fancy label that's been stamped with DRS Designs Birthday Wishes (020B) and then sponged with SU Handsome Hunter ink.  The Birthday balloons (491E) were stamped on white CS with Handsome Hunter, Not Quite Navy, Real Red, Yoyo Yellow and Pumpkin Pie ink, heat embossed with clear EP, then cut out and popped up to give some dimension.

Hope you like it!

Until next time,

On Father's Day

>> Sunday, April 29, 2012

Good morning everyone. I like to work ahead on cards that I know I will be needing. This one is for Fathers Day. When I saw this Seaside Dock 1111K stamp by DRS designs  the first thing I thought was this would make a great Fathers day card.

First I stamped the Seaside Dock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used my colored pencils to color the image. And cut it out with a Spellbinder Die. It was layered onto a scalloped oval. For the background I used a embossing folder. On Father’s Day 034D, was stamped cutout and layered on to black cardstock.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Poker Congratulations

>> Saturday, April 28, 2012

Good day in blog land!  I hope everyone is enjoying some nice weather and everything is beginning to bloom!
My card today features our new 4 in 1 poker suits and the vertical congratulations.  Also featured is the easy polka dot bg stamped in black on the lower half of the card.  I used markers directly on the stamp to color in red and black.  3 brads were placed on an angle to look like diamonds as well.
Have a lovely weekend and check out our fun, new things.  There is something for everyone!

So Many Candles!

>> Friday, April 27, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I don't know about you, but we have a lot of birthdays coming up in the next few months. For me, birthday cards are something I can never have too many of around here. It never fails, that someone's birthday will sneak up on me and ....whew! At least I have a card made!

This one is pretty easy, very colorful and will work for so many different people. The candle address frame works not only for an envelope but it's great as a frame for the sentiment. It was colored with markers and die cut with a rectangle die. The background was embossed with a big dot folder. I added two of the single candles and one of the bigger candles (from the frame) at the bottom. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
Stamps: DRS Designs – Birthday Candle Address Frame, Single Birthday Candle, So Many Candles
Paper: Neenah white, orchid
Ink: Ancient Page coal
Accessories: Tombow markers, Spellbinders rectangles & tag dies, Cuttlebug lg dot embossing folder (from the Welcome Baby combo set)

DOGWOOD ROSETTE

>> Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Hello Friends! Happy Wednesday!! Our week is almost over and we can hopefully enjoy the weekend! For todays card, I thought it would be fun to make a Rosette. I took a 1" x  white strip of card stock and stamped the Dogwood Branch image from DRS Designs in Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Regal Rose Inks. I then scored every 1/4" across and created a mountain/ valley fold., snipped off one score line and glued together. Then used a 1 1/2" Circle punch and punched from a scrap piece of card stock and glued to the inside circle to hold the Rosette together.

I then stamped the same Dogwood image on the background of the Pink Pirhouette card stock. I ran white card stock through the Polka Dots Embossing folder and sponged it with Pretty In Pink ink. I then took white card stock and stamped the Good Courage Greeting in Rose Red Ink and wiped the ink pad across to add a little color. I added some Saffron and Rose Red Layers and tied a yellow satin ribbon around to tie a bow.

Join us again tomorrow for our challenge! Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

ConGRADulations

>> Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Hi Everyone,

There are lots of summer holidays looming ahead, and this latest release here at DRS Designs has got you covered for all of them.  For my card share today, I thought I would show off a graduation card.  I had my own niece in mind when I made it, since she will be graduating from OSU in June.  I would like to say that she's looking forward to leaving the books behind, but she's got 4 more years after this.  She's on her way to being a pharmacist.  We're so proud of her :)  Anyway.... Here is my card:

I used the Retro Star Burst stamp to create the background and the Vertical ConGRADulations sentiment panel was lined with a punched border that sort of looks like a note book page.  I colored the Teacher Tools with my Copic markers, and layered it on the Circle Spiro which I colored to match.  It's hard for me to consider a card finished without a bit of bling, so boom, had to add a few gems....lol!

Thanks for stopping by today! Remember, the challenge this week is Sports, and there's still time to play along and win some stamps!

Butterflies

>> Monday, April 23, 2012

Today I want so share a card that features butterflies. I love butterflies!

I started with a 5 x 10 in. piece of yellow card stock that was folded to make a 5 in square card. I added a small strip of green card stock down the middle of the yellow card. On top I added a lavender square that was stamped with DRS Designs butterflies (917H) in Versacolor Lavender. This square was also punched on two sides with a MS butterfly border punch. On top of the lavender square is tied a sheer yellow ribbon. Then I added a green fanciful flourish. The main image is DRS Designs Leaf Butterfly Spray (1098M) which was stamped with Memento Black ink on white card stock and then colored with copics. I stamped the image again and colored the larger butterfly with the same copics, then cut it out and attached it with foam adhesive to give some dimension and the illusion of fluttering wings.

The main image was layered on a yellow nestie and then attached to the lavender square. Hope you like it!

Until next time,
shelia

Good Morning, hope you are all having a great weekend. Today I wanted to share with you a cute little gift card. These would be great for the graduate in your life.

I used the Large Original Plaid 011D, and black ink to create the background. I stamped the Congrats Address Frame 1152K, and the Gothic Gift Card Greeting 018D, and cut it out. The edge was sponged with Distress ink Peeled Paint.

Have a wonderful day,

ConGrads....

>> Saturday, April 21, 2012

This was a happy mistake and will be used for my dd MacKenna's friends that will be graduating from a rival high school.  I started with the vertical Congradulations and decided to use the versatile medium daisy bloom.  I used pearlescent water colors to paint it (I know, surprise!), added some crushed curry MS butterflies and some polka dot ribbon.  I embossed the red and black layer.....the tiny strip of red is a piece of leftover paper and I put the "grad" on a dimensional.  I have to get cranking on the grad cards as I have lots to make and a graduate myself!  Head over to the DRS Designs store for all your cardmaking needs for graduation!

Lucky Bear

>> Friday, April 20, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has been good. If you haven't had a chance, now is a great time to check out the DRS Designs Thursday Challenge. This week, the theme is SPORTS and we'd love for you to play so please check it out! And while you're there, please leave a little love for the fabulous work of the DRS Design Team. We love to read your comments!

The bear on my card is originally a St. Patrick’s Day image, but I thought hmmm….the clover on his vest could be clubs. After all, clubs are just clover incognito, right? That’s my story, anyway. After coloring him, I cut him out and also the royal flush. The individual suits were stamped and die cut as well as the circle mats behind them.
I stamped the first part only of the sentiment as it just seemed to go with that card hand. A royal flush? How much luckier can it be? The rest of the sentiment ( you have the best sister in the whole world) is on the inside of the card. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: 4 in 1 Card Suits, 5 Cards, So Lucky Greeting, Paddy Bear
paper: white, red, black
ink: Ancient Page coal
accessories: Tombow markers, water brush, Spellbinders circle dies, Cuttlebug embossing border (Measure by Measure set), black Permapaque pen, red Micron pen

Gift Card Holder

>> Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Since the current challenge here at the DRS Designs blog is "Make a Gift Card Holder", I thought I would go ahead and show off another one that I made using some of the new stamps that were released.

I used a 12 X 12 piece of card stock and folded up a small lip at the bottom of the card to hold my gift card.  Obviously I took my color inspiration from the colors on the gift card.  I used the Flying Cash background stamp to make my papers and added some ribbon, rhinestones, flower and brads in coordinating colors.

The Congratulations and A Gift Card for You are both in the new releases section at the DRS Designs store.

There's still time to join us for this challenge!  I can't wait to see what you've made :)

Happy Graduation

>> Monday, April 16, 2012

Happy Monday Everyone. Today I want to share a card created with a couple of the just released Graduation stamps from DRS Designs - ConGRADulations (011D) and the Celebration of your Liberation (1126K).

The card base is blue CS on which is added a white panel that was embossed with the CB swirls folder. I added a satin blue ribbon to this panel. The sentiments were stamped in Stazon black ink on white card stock. After cutting them out, they were both layered on the same blue as the card base. I stamped DRS Designs Grad cap (287G) in Stazon black ink on the blue CS. After cutting the grad cap out, I popped it up on top to finish the card. Hope you like it.

until next time,

Tackling Birthday Wishes

>> Saturday, April 14, 2012

Good day!  Yep, it is a good day as DRS Designs has some great new images for sale starting today!  For this creation I used Birthday Wishes and Fishing Box.
I had a lot of fun coloring this and I used markers with a blender pen to pick up the color. A super fun embossing folder that reminds me of a fishing net was used and twine and a corduroy button help to complete it.
Head on over to the DRS Designs store for all the new, fun stuff!

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Tomorrow's the big day! New DRS images will be released and this is one of them. I love this whimsical water scene and it was a lot of fun to color. I used markers and a water brush and added some highlights with a white gel pen.

I used an oval die to cut the frame out of the white c/s and stamped the greeting at the bottom. I edged it with some blue ink. I used two oval dies to cut the thin red oval frame I added on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25. You'll be able to check out these new releases tomorrow at DRS Designs!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
