Pretty Skies

>> Wednesday, June 13, 2018

I love a pretty sky - a pretty sunset or some fluffy clouds, a night-time sky full of stars....   Nature can come up with some gorgeous skies.  My cards today focus on skies.  My first one is how I imagine the skies may look in Hawaii.

I did a think water color wash and then went back in with some browns to create a mountain in the bg and some rocks in the forefront.  This was quick and easy because I was just trying to create soft images with very little detail.  Next I took some white watercolor to make the smoke and splatter of the volcano.  Stickles were added to the splatters.  After it all dried, I stamped in the Every Day a Miracle Greeting and the edges of the Silhouette Palm Tree Line.

On my second card, I also did a water color wash.  I did a yellow wash and then came back in with some orange and pinks.  I stamped the You Are My Sunshine Greeting and added it as a banner.

I hope you have pretty skies where you live.  If you live in Hawaii, I hope the skies are pretty and you are safe.  While Nature can be pretty, it can be very dangerous and destructive as well.

Nancy, these are both so lovely. Your Volcano scene is amazing. The two little palms are placed just right! Love the colors on the second card. You do create the best backgrounds! We are suppose to have clear pretty skies today. Even so, I don't think they'll be able to top these! 😊

these are wonderful, Nancy! Love your Hawaii scene w/ the volcano (though I bet the locals don't care for the eruptions!). Your next card is so bright & pretty & I love the divided panels.

These are beautiful Nancy! Wow, the first looks like a volcano in the bg on a tropical island or something, amazing! Love the painted sky on the second!

2 incredible cards Nancy! You are totally killing the watercolors lately! I love that you added just a bit of the palm trees - really cements the island feel. Your sunshine card is awesome! Such happy colors and I love the raised panels!
