Blessings

>> Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Don't you just love when you can think of a bunch of ways to use a stamp?  I begged DRS to make a stamp like the Open Bible for my Bible Journaling class, but I have found it makes a fun stamp for cards as well (you can see several other great ideas on this blog).  I made this card at a crop this past weekend playing around with the image and some other stamps.

For the background, I stamped the Script Font Background and stamped it in SU! Crumb Cake.  I added the Count Your Blessings Greeting below the open bible.

I cut out another Open Bible and trimmed it so it would look like some open pages.

I love how this came out!

Birthday Bees

>> Tuesday, March 29, 2016

Hi Everyone,

I couldn't resist making another bee themed card recently.  The Bee Happy Birthday Greeting is just so...well, happy!  I love that the greeting comes with that teeny tiny bee built right in :)

I decided to try and stamp on a light blue cardstock, which I was hoping would stand in for a blue sky.  I stamped the Beehive image, and after coloring it with Copic markers, it turned out well enough, that I added  some Bee Trails for extra interest.

I wrapped the image panel with some yellow ribbon and tied on a tiny tag that was stamped with Bitsy Bumble Bee and colored to match.  And it wouldn't be complete without some glitter added to the wings :)

You can find all of these stamps at DRS Designs.  Have a great day!

Happy Easter Monday!

>> Monday, March 28, 2016

Does anyone still refer to today as Easter Monday? I remember always having today off from school when I was a kid. Maybe I'm showing my age here!! Anyway, I still think of today as a special day to remember Easter and rejoice that Christ is Risen. So my card today celebrates that fact.

I started with the white CS, stamped the Christ is Risen Cross with Memento Black ink, colored it with Copics and die cut. It is layered on two more die cuts in yellow and green. Everything is attached to the yellow card base which was embossed with CB damask folder. The small Open Bible was stamped, colored with Copics, fussy cut and then attached with a foam dot for dimension. The word "Rejoice" was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink.

I hope you have had a good Easter weekend and found time to rejoice!!

Thanks for stopping by today,
shelia

For this card I used the Lily Sympathy Cross and Copic markers. The background is a embossing folder that was cut into sections and layered on to paper that i colored the edge with a Copic marker. The I Am Resurrection Greeting was stamped with Memento Black ink. The bow and half pearls were added to finish off this card.

Bible Journaling

>> Saturday, March 26, 2016

Good morning and
Happy Easter tomorrow.

B is for Bible!

Yes, that is a Bible in my Bible!!  The Bible and the Rejoice are some of the new release stamps for this month and they are perfect for the Bible journaling everyone is getting into these days.   This Bible is even a special Bible just for that purpose.

Here is a photo of the whole page.
I used letter stencils for the bottom (red) letters and a liner pen.  I stamped the little blank open Bible with Memento Luxe gray (it doesn't bleed through the thin pages).  I then stamped the Rejoice inside.
The yellow rays were done with a stencil and some Dylusions paint...it is transparent so that the words are easily read through the paint.  You could also use ink as that would also be transparent and just apply it sparingly with a sponge.
For the top journaling I used DRS stamp: 380G Dandelion Puff
The bottom uses DRS new release stamps: 745C Open Bible, 825B Small Rejoice and 4 In 1 Arrows 807C (the arrow is open, I colored it in).

One last journaling page especially for Easter weekend.

DRS new release stamps: 4 In 1 Arrows 807C, Remember This 790B and a favorite, 3 Wooded Crosses 1116K  I used colored pencils to color the crosses and to make a sunset sky.

Thanks for visiting today, I hope you are having a great day!!

Beehive Birthday

>> Friday, March 25, 2016

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! Isn't this greeting just the cutest ever? Perfect to go w/ these adorable little bees & beehive (which by the way continues the DRS Thursday Challenge..B Words!) They look so cute on my card...as long as that's the only place I see them. I'm so allergic to insects, I have to carry an epipen! The only live bees I've seen so far are those big carpenter bees..they are like the cargo plane of bees. Those guys are HUGE! And they drill perfect little holes in everything & turn it into Swiss cheese. Woohoo!

For my Beehive Birthday, after die cutting the layers, I stamped the branch w/ the beehive several times. Once on the honey colored card stock, the very end of it on the white layer & the hive on a separate little piece of white. I colored the branch on the two big pieces & the hive on the little one & fussy cut it. All the extra bees were also colored & fussy cut. The bee on the lower left is actually a reverse image so I wouldn't have him flying off the page.
I added bee trails to the larger 2 bees & used a micron pen to add the dotty trails for the 2 smaller bees.  That little bitty bee is from the Bumblebee Recognition image. Here's a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a bee-utiful weekend & a Happy Easter!

Faith and Fish

>> Wednesday, March 23, 2016

DRS Designs has so many images that work perfectly with Bible Journaling.  I used two of them on this page.  First I stamped the Impossible Faith Greeting and then added the Big Mouth Bass.

My Journaling Bible has such thin pages that when I am stamping directly on the page, I stamp my images with a really light ink (I used SU! Crumb Cake on this) and then go over the lines with a Micron Pen.  I have only been Bible Journaling a few months, but I am addicted!!!

Hope you are having a good week.

Hugz,

Nancy

Faith

>> Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Hi Everyone,

Seeing that it's the week leading up to the Easter holiday, I thought I would show off a faith based card today.  Originally I thought this could work as a sympathy card, something to offer hope at a dark time in someone's life, so I chose deep muted colors when designing it.

I stamped the Open Bible in brown ink and the I Am The Resurrection Greeting over it in navy blue.  I die cut it using rectangle and scalloped rectangle dies,  layering the sentiment panel on a script embossed  background.

The background panel was stamped using the Splatter Background stamp in the same brown ink and I stamped the Dandelion Puff a few times in blue. Stamping the flower once, and then again before re-inking it, is what gives it that subtle shadow effect.

All this was layered onto a navy blue card base and I added a matching bow.

Thanks for visiting and if you celebrate, I wish you a Happy Easter!

Welcome Spring!

>> Monday, March 21, 2016

Aren't you glad it's Spring?! I am. I am so ready for some warmer weather, sunshine and outdoor activities! So in honor of Spring, I have a card to share today that celebrates this season.

I started by stamping the Birdhouse Tree Branch, Lovebirds Tree Branch and Leafy Tree Branch images with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored them with Copics and then sponged Bashful Blue ink on for the sky. The Spring is Coming sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink on white CS, die cut and layered on green CS. Some Bashful Blue ink was sponged on to match the background better. The little bird charm has been in my stash forever and I thought it'd look cute with this greeting. The green frame was die cut and the edges were embossed with some lines for interest.

This card could also work for this week's color challenge. You still have time to join in the fun. You could be the winner of some fabulous new stamps. We'd love to see what you create. Details can be seen here.

Thanks for stopping by,
shelia

Good morning!

Here is another card for the color challenge from Thursday's post...
scroll down to Thursday to see the challenge and where to submit your entries.

Here are the colors

DRS stamps used: New release Spring is Coming, 724E Sally Snail
I used a sketch from Splitcoaststampers for this card.
Stamped, colored and die cut my snail using a round stitched die from My Favorite Things and a circle die from Spellbinders.  I then stamped my sentiment and cut the panel down to size and matted it with blue.  My card base is white with a layer of yellow 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" and blue on top 2" X 4 1/8"
I added checked ribbon and green enamel dots then made a bow from the ribbon and put my card all together.  The snail circle is popped up.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!
Thanks for visiting!
Robin
