Happy last day of the year!
My card today features DRS Designs Pinecone square and the background is done with the pine bough randomly stamped.  My sentiment creating yourself was only partially stamped on the front.  The entire greeting is inside:  Life isn't about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself.  I love it AND the font it is done in. A silver jumbo brad and a piece of ribbon stapled onto main image used for my embellies.  I am into the monochromatic look lately and I did this in soft suede.
Happiest wishes for a wonderful 2012 and please be safe this evening!

Snowflake Penguins

>> Friday, December 30, 2011

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Have y'all checked out the DRS Designs Thursday Challenge? Just create a card using Snowflakes and link it up to challenge post. Easy as pie! And with your link, you'll be in the drawing for some fabulous images!

For my card today, I'm continuing the snowflake theme. I just love these cute little penguins. Such happy little guys! For most of us so far, it's been a really mild winter so snowflakes aren't even in the forecast. Not yet...anyway. Wherever these guys are, there is snow! I tried to use frosty colors to enhance the snowflakes and to me, the colors always look wintry. I really only used two stamps for this: the let it snow penguins and the interlocking snow background. After stamping and coloring the penguins, I die cut them and added some purple strips adorned w/ punched snowflakes. The 5.50 x 4.25 white card front was stamped w/ the snowflake bg using two colors of ink. I also stamped the snowflakes using the purple ink onto the lt blue panels. More punched snowflakes were added on top of an embossed snowflake circle.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a Happy New Year!!

Supplies:
stamps: Let it Snow Penguins, Interlocking Snow Background
paper: white, lt blue, purple
ink: Ancient Page coal, Memento lavender & summer sky

by the chimney with care... Well, Hello Everyone, this is Chrissy D here! My family has a long drawn out Christmas celebration. With family scattered through out the States, we see them all different days! This is good and bad... good because we can prolong the celebration, bad for the waistline! :)

I just love this is "I Scene a Stocking" stamp from DRS Designs. I stamped this on White Neenah cardstock and colored it with my Copic Markers. Using a Glassy glaze, I added White Flower Soft on the cuff.

I used a Stocking Punch for the additional stockings and stamped the Starry background in Red Ink and the Open Plaid Background with White Craft Ink. I used a Signo White Gel Pen to add the faux stitching. I added the Water Colored Dew Drops along the button with some Mini Glue Dots to finish off the card!

It will be next year (week!) before I talk to you again! Have a wonderful day!!!

Out of This World

>> Tuesday, December 27, 2011

Hi Everyone,

Are you making plans for the new year yet?  I hope one of them will include joining us for our Thursday challenges that we are hosting here on the blog :)  Since the current challenge is Heat Embossing, I decided to use that technique for the birthday card I needed to make.

I used the Starry Background stamped in Versamark and heat set it with gold embossing powder.  Spaceboy Skip is an adorable image for a boy's card and I love the Out of this World Birthday sentiment; It's the perfect match for him and his space friend.  However, to make it fit my card design, I stamped it separately and cut it out attaching it on top of a border made from using the Interlocking Circle stamp.

Here is a close up of the embossed stars, the clear embossing on his space helmet, ribbon and felt button embellishment.  They're mail friendly ;-)

Thanks for dropping by the blog today.  Get those heat guns in gear before our next challenge on this Thursday!

Have a great day,
Karin

Happy Boxing Day

>> Monday, December 26, 2011

Today I'm sharing a New Year's card made with DRS Designs Wishing you Happiness (387G). When I think of the new year I think of new beginnings, and new beginnings always makes me think of butterflies. So I used butterflies on this card.

The banner strips are stamped in Not Quite Navy ink with the butterflies from DRS Designs 4 in 1 Background (385M). The sentiment is stamped in Stazon Black, then cut with a square nestie. I layered the sentiment on a spellbinder Fleur De Lis Pendant and added a couple of light blue butterflies with half pearls.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday!  And I wish you all 365 days of Happiness!!

Until next time,
shelia

The Snowflake Scroll 875f was stamped and embossed with silver on a navy panel.

Let It Snow

>> Saturday, December 24, 2011

Happy Christmas Eve to everyone!  I hope that your day is spent enjoying the season!!!
My card today showcases a couple of fabulous stamps here at DRS Designs...the main image Let it Snow Penguins 571K and the swirling snowflakes 168F.  I used traditional Christmas colors on here and I am so happy to say that Colorado got a lot of snow Thursday.  At my house, we had a foot.  I was the lucky gal to clear the big driveway, deck and a path in the yard for my pooches!  I hope it will snow Christmas but I think our temps are supposed to reach the 50's!  Gotta love Colorado.
Paper: white, green
Ink:  black, real red, green, brilliant blue, yellow
Embellishments:  rhinestones, dimensionals, ribbon tabs

Have a safe, beautiful Christmas!

Skating Away

>> Friday, December 23, 2011

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday before Christmas!
Are you ready? I always plan to be ready ahead of time. Best laid plans, right! Like this happy little fellow, my best plans are skating away, but at least the happy thought is there!
For my skating scene, everything except the cut out and added penguin was done on the one layer. I started by stamping the tree line then masking the snow and sponging the sky. There's just something about a pink winter sky that I really like so I tend to use this color for winter skies. I flipped the mask to cover the sky and sponged in some snow w/ a lt blue ink. All except the pond. I penciled in where I wanted it and left it white. A little shading was added around the trees w/ markers.

After I determined where my skater would go, I stamped him again on the plastic sheet of my SAMJ (stamp-a-ma-jig), lined up the foot under where his right foot is, masked the edge of the pond, and stamped the reflection using the image on the SAMJ sheet as the stamp. It's really harder to describe than it is to do. It's just a simple reflection technique. After that, I covered the pond using a VersaMark pen and embossed w/ clear powder twice. Then I added a few scribbles w/ a white Permapaque marker and embossed w/ another coat of clear ep. We used to call this super embossing. It really makes it look like an icy pond.
A little closer look at the pond and you can see how glassy it appears. I stamped some pink and blue snowflakes around the edges and added a few die cut flakes. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Y'all have a very Happy Holiday!!

RED HOLLY DAYS!

>> Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Happy "Holly" Days Everyone!!! This is Chrissy D here!!! I can hardly believe Christmas is a mere 4 days away! Every day has been packed with activities and while this is my favorite time of year, I am ready for all of the Christmas cookies to be gone!

On todays card, I used the FUN Fanfare Square and stamp it in red, blue and green. I then made them into a diamond shape and mounted them on black card stock. I stamped the Design Tag Die Cut  in Black Memento Ink and colored it with B05, R46 and YG67 from my Copic collection and cut it out with my scissors and mounted it on dimensionals. I stamped the Happy Holly Days Greeting in blue ink and finished the card off with some Red Satin Ribbon and gems in each corner.

Christmas Memories

>> Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Hi Everyone,

The big Christmas holiday is almost upon us...Are you ready? I never feel ready no matter how much I prepare. I don't know about you, but I always feel like there are a million things to do at the last minute :)

Anyway, I thought I would slow things down with a nod to the past with the darling nostalgic image in the Christmas Stocking Scene stamp on today's card share. I colored it with Copics, adding some Stickles to the cuff before fussy cutting it out.

The background was stamped in Versamark using the Large Open Plaid stamp on a diagonal and I chose the Lingering Christmas greeting to pair with the I Scene a Stocking. I cut it out using a circle Nestie and added a bit of chalk sponging to soften the stark white of the paper. Each of these were then attached with some pop dots for some dimension.

I added it to my card base that was die cut along one edge and finished it with some twine and gems.

Thanks for visiting us today during this busy week and if you get a moment to ink up your DRS Designs stamps, why not play along in our current Red, White and Green challenge right here!

Six Days Til Christmas!!

>> Monday, December 19, 2011

Wow, it's the last week before Christmas. And I'm still making Christmas cards!! I only need a couple more. :-)

The card I am sharing today uses the adorable Penguin Snowball Blast (966K) from DRS Designs. I just love this stamp. Today I've stamped it in Memento Black, colored it with Copics and then used stickles all over the igloo and snowballs. I love the sparkle!!

I used nesties to cut out the frames and a MS holly punch for the corners. Since there's no room on the front for the sentiment, I put that inside this card.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

until next time,
shelia

Let it Snow!

>> Saturday, December 17, 2011

Happy, happy day!  It is getting closer and closer!  I wish that we would get some new snow here in Colorado.  Usually we get snow and then it gets warm enough that the old stuff doesn't stick around too long and get dirty.  However, we haven't had snow in some time and it isn't getting warm enough to melt.  Boo hoo.............  Oh well.
I felt like making a monochromatic card today and wanted to use a color that I don't see used much in Christmas cards.  I chose rich razzleberry.  I stamped our 4 in 1 snowflakes randomly and then used the sentiment Let it Snow with Snowflake as the centerpiece.  I added some random rhinestones on the background and one in the middle of the snowflake on the sentiment.  I am hoping for some snow.  It helps me get in the Christmas spirit!
Come on over to DRS Designs and check out all the wonderful stamps we have to offer and enjoy your day!

Christmas Joys

>> Friday, December 16, 2011

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Not too many days left until Christmas! And what a difference a year makes. This time last year, we were freezing... today the temp was almost 70 degrees! Very weird! I don't know about you, but I like it to be cold around Christmas. At least sweater weather.

So to put me in the mood, I made a snowy white card. This one is pretty clean and simple. I stamped the vertical trees w/ green ink and die cut w/ a long rectangle. The greeting and single tree were stamped on the smaller die cut panel and I lined up the tree and stamped it again on the larger panel. Added a few red lights (or berries) and some red stickles to the trees.
I added just the star from the manger scene above the greeting. Actually, I had to add something because I apparently had a little green ink on my finger when I was gluing the layers to the card. But it worked it out ok. I added a little rhinestone in the middle of the star and my 5.50 x 4.25 card was finished.

So tell me, do you prefer your Christmas cold or not? And did you check out Thursday's Challenge? Surely you'd like a chance for free stamps!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Joy of Christmas greeting, Single Fall Tree, Vertical Triple Trees, Holy Family Manger Scene (the star only)
paper: white
ink: Archival library green, Brilliance rocket red
accessories: Tombow red marker, red stickles, Spellbinders long rectangles & labels 18, rhinestone

SMILE!

>> Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Hello Friends! This is Chrissy D here! Welcome to the DRS Designers Blog today! I love this little snowman - he really makes me SMILE! This card was so fun to make. I do not know about you, but I can get stuck in a "color" rut and use the same colors all of the time. Red is one of my favorite colors, so that is one I use a lot!  I tried a new color scheme for this card instead of the "traditional" winter whites and blues which is what I would gravitate towards to create a wintery feel. I took the Marina Mist card stock and ran it through the Big Shot with the snowflakes cuttlebug folder. Once the card stock was embossed, I sponged it with the White Craft Ink.

I stamped the Heart Swag Snowman with Memento Ink (Tuxedo Black) and colored him with my Copic Markers. I started cutting out the cute snowman but ran out of space, so I placed the remaining heart on the top of the die cut. I used the Spellbinders Elegant Ovals die to stamp the Snowmen Smiles Greeting on and tied a big Satin Red Bow along the bottom portion of the card. Using Mini Glue Dots, I added three Dew Drops in the upper left corner of the card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today! Have a wonderful day and enjoy this Christmas Season!

Peace On Earth

>> Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Good Morning Everyone!

My card share consists of different layered elements today.  The background paper was made using the Silent Night Sheet Music, which was stamped twice to fill up the entire piece of cardstock. Next came the doily purchased at a local craft store in the candy making aisle.  The blue die cut is from a Spellbinders die and the Snowflake Circle was cut out using a circle Nestie and layered on top.  Finally I used just the sentiment from the Three Wise Men Peace stamp for the center.  After stamping it and punching it out, I used some spray adhesive and added some glitter and attached it with a pop dot.  I love a crisp and clean blue and white color combo, don't you?

How would you like to win some DRS Designs stamps?  We have two separate opportunities this week!

Our new challenge is in full swing here on the DRS Designs blog.  A new challenge is posted every Thursday, and our current one is Polka Dots.  Click here for all the details and to link up you card.

Also,  DRS Designs is the sponsor over at The Play Date Cafe.  It's a color challenge, and the prize is a $15.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store!

Merry December 12th

>> Monday, December 12, 2011

Trust everyone had a good weekend. I had hoped to spend the weekend finishing off a project, but unfortunately I got sick and accomplished very little. :-(  But I am much better today and ready to get busy!!

The card I'm sharing today features two recent releases called Girl Swirl Holly (887G) and Joy to the World (864E). I stamped the holly on white card stock with Memento black and colored it with my copics.  The sentiment is stamped in black on the cranberry panel. After attaching the Girl Swirl Holly to the top of the panel, I added the holly ribbon. The white background was embossed with a CB folder. I added a cranberry panel to the side after punching a MS border to finish the look. This was a pretty quick and easy card to make.

Be sure to join in the weekly challenge here at DRS Designs. This week you have to use polka dots on your card. The winner of the week's contest receives some cute DRS Stamps! Hope you can join us!

until next week,
