Getting Ready For Christmas!

>> Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Christmas is right around the corner and it's never too early to start getting ready for it. Have you started your holiday preparations yet?

Just this past week I started making my holiday gift tags--the "To" and "From" tags that will go on every gift I give this year.  DRS Designs has a ton of stamps that are perfect for making these tags.  They were all quick and easy to make and best part is that I used a bunch of scraps!

I simply typed out "To" and "From" on my computer and printed them out on high quality white cardstock.  Then I stamped each design around the text and simply decorated each one and added a matching ribbon.  Some even have a touch of Stickles! Here are 5 different ones that I've made so far.

I know the details are little difficult to see, so I took close up pics of each one.

This tag uses the Trees Address Label Frame (H106).  The original use for this stamp was envelope art, to decorate the area where the return address is put on an envelope.  However, I've creatively found another use for it!  The trees here were stamped with green ink and then I applied Stickles to make them snowy.

This tag shows off the Holly 3" Giga Circle (L120).  This stamp was designed for use with the Giga Circle punch--you'll get a perfect punch every time!  If you're a Nestability lover like me, you'll find they work well with them too!  This was stamped with Olive Green ink, and the dots were colored with red marker and then I applied Red Stickles to each of them to dress it up a bit.

As you can see, here is the Snowflake Address label stamp (K107).  I stamped it in bright blue ink and then added a Stickles to each of the snowflake centers.  The tag base was also embossed with a snowflake embossing folder.

How about snowflakes in red?  For this one I used the 2.5" Mega Snowflake Circle (H259).

And finally for my last tag, I used the 3" Giga Holly Oval (K166).  Again, the dots were colored red with marker and then I added red Stickles to them to dress it up.  I wanted to make this one a bit different then the holly tag I made above, so I added the One Line Merry Christmas sentiment (B364) to this one.

I hope you enjoyed seeing all of the different tags I made--this is only the beginning!  Get started on your Christmas tags today! You can find all of DRS Designs Envelope Art Stamps HERE and all of the other Designer Frames HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Happy Monday! DRS Designs is happy to sponsor the sketch this week over on Card Patterns blog. And this is the sketch for the week. It's clean and uncomplicated and has such great potential. We'd love to see what you can create using this sketch, and you could win a gift certificate from DRS Designs!

This is my take on the sketch, using a brand new Christmas release! This wonderful Nativity Noel image was stamped onto white c/s and I used a blender pen and ink from a rainbow pad to color it in. I used my out of the box Nestie technique to die cut it then used the same die to trace two frames (one in turquoise, one in purple) and hand cut these, then spliced them together w/ a ribbon in the center.

I used a marker on a portion of the Three Wisemen Ornament and stamped it on the turquoise layer. The white layer has a punched lower edge and I used ribbon tabs and faux brads for my three side elements.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!

Supplies:
stamps: Nativity Noel, Three Wisemen Ornament
paper: white, turquoise, purple
ink: permanent black, Kaleidacolor pad Riviera
accessories: markers, shaped dies, ribbon, border punch

Sketch Challenge Poem

>> Sunday, August 29, 2010

Good Morning!

This week DRS Designs is sponsoring the challenge over at the Card Patterns Blog. So, to support
the weekly sketch challenge, here is the sketch...

And here is my take on it.

I'm using the super popular and very funny new stamp 'Claus'trophobic'(367G) along with the 4 in1 Snowflake (096D) background stamp.

My die cut snowflakes were accented with a red metal sticker to match the bow, and then I highlighted the word "red" in the poem...you know, just for fun!

Come join the challenge at the Card Patterns Blog this week, and you might be the winner of a gift certificate to DRS Designs.

Find Peace, Hope, Love!

>> Saturday, August 28, 2010

Hi all, Jenny here...

Are you getting ready for Christmas? Time to start making your Christmas cards? DRS Designs has some great new releases just in time for you to do that, and they have previous releases available. Today im showcasing some stamps that you will just love!

Doesn't this make a great Christmas card? Here I used Find Peace, Hope, Love Christmas greeting in combination with Four Flower Background. The four flower background stamps are so versatile. I stamped them in different greens, reds and browns. Then I added a pop of red pearls. And to finish it off I put a small brown bow on top of the flowers. For the cardstock, I layered matching colors to my ink colors.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I hope I was able to inspire you to start your Christmas cards!! Early is always better, we all get busy during the holidays so I always start mine super early.

Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy it! Happy Stamping!

And Yet, ANOTHER Take on This Super Fun Stamp!

>> Friday, August 27, 2010

This stamp cracked me up when I saw it! I think I was the only kid that was TERRIFIED of the Jolly Fat Man... and would NOT go near him at all!!! Forget bribing me with presents, candy or any of that. I still get a little freaked at the mall...so, I can totally relate to this stamp! I stamped the Santa hat in the background and colored the top of it in with a red copic marker. Then I stamped the saying and mounted it on green... and added the poinsettias. Quick, simple and FLAT to mail! Check out the NEW RELEASE of DRS Stamps here and thanks for popping in!!!

Jingle Bells!

>> Thursday, August 26, 2010

Posted By Jennifer E.

With the new release of DRS Designs latest holiday stamps, I'm on a roll creating my Christmas cards for this year! I feel it's never too early to start, and the earlier the better!  Anything to help decrease the hectic hustle and bustle of the holidays is a "plus" in my book!

Here's another Christmas card I've made with the new DRS Christmas stamps.

The Bells and Bows image (K355) was colored with Copic Markers.  I distressed the edges around the image with Vintage Photo Desitressing ink.  I cut the Jingle Bell Greeting (G356) in half so each piece had 2 lines of text.  This made it easier to stamp the greeting on the 2 colors of cardstock I used in the layout.  That's one of the things I love best about DRS Designs unmounted stamps--they are so versatile and I can make them work for any idea I have!  This would have been a bit more difficult and time consuming had it been wood mounted.  I use EZ Mount to mount my stamps and then store them on cling sheet storage panels in 3 ring binders.  I have each binder labeled by theme so my stamps are always right at my finger tips and easy to find in a book shelf right next to my stamping table!

Well, that's it from me today.  Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for another great project tomorrow, right here on the DRS Designs Blog.

Have a great day!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Wintertime Buddies

>> Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Hi all... Jenny here.

Are you just loving the new Christmas Stamps? I am. If you haven't seen all the new releases yet, go HERE. And make sure to check out the Card Gallery for more inspiration HERE.

Todays card I am using two of the new Christmas releases, Christmas Music Background and Wintertime Buddies. I just LOVE the music background, its so versatile and such a great stamp. I hope you like my design, I made the card into Santa's suit using some red cardstock on each side then ran a strip of black cardstock at the bottom and some gold cardstock for the belt buckle. I stamped the music background first on the red cardstock before placing them on the card.

Hope you enjoyed my card today... thanks for stopping in!
Be sure to come back again tomorrow!

Are You CLAUStrophobic?

>> Tuesday, August 24, 2010

by Alicia Ekermans - Call Me {Crafty} Al

Welcome back!! Aren't you enjoying all of the sample using the new Christmas releases from DRS Designs?! Today I am sharing another sample with you, this one using the 'Claus'trophic Christmas Greeting (367G).

For today's card I created a square section of Santa's jacket to go with the sentiment. To do this I used paper with a suede feel in burgundy, black and white. The entire square was covered with the burgundy, then I created a belt using a strip of the black. To finish the coat off I used my deckle scissors on a piece of white and created the belt buckle with gold cardstock. The sentiment was die cut, then adhered behind 'Santa' with the edge overhanging just a bit. To tie in the belt buckle I used a couple gold brads above and below the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you back here again tomorrow!

Do You Hear Jingle Bells?

>> Monday, August 23, 2010

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

It must be these new Christmas images. Aren't they terrific?

I stamped the bells and bows 3 times: twice on white and once on metallic silver. I cut out one of the white (base) images with a fancy die. I colored the bow on the other one using markers overlaid with colored pencils then cut it out and attached it to the base image. I did the same with the silver bells.

For the background, I used a portion of the greeting and stamped it multiple times in red on the diagonal. Then I embossed it with a candy cane folder and added the red lines with a marker. I added a silver bow and a few red and white layers. The finished card measures 5.50 x 4.25 (A2).

Thanks so much for stopping by! It's never too early to catch a little Christmas spirit and start in on making those holiday cards.

Jingle all the Way!

>> Sunday, August 22, 2010

Good Sunday morning to you! It's Bonnie again and I have another card to show you using the new Christmas releases!

I used the Jingle Bell Background stamped in VersaMagic - Red Magic - such a crisp clear image don't you think?

Next I stamped the Holly 3" Giga Oval in Brilliance Thyme and then the Jingle all the Way sentiment was stamped in the Red Magic in the center of the oval.

I stamped and coloured the Holly Background, cut out a few of the holly leaves and added them as embellishments.

I added some glittery paper for a border across the top and it was done! A pretty darn easy card even though I used four stamps!!

Have you got your Christmas cards started yet? Now's the time!

DRS Designs Blog Hop Scavenger Hunt Winners!

>> Saturday, August 21, 2010

Happy Saturday all and thanks for visiting! We are about to make 2 people extra happy today as we announce the winners of our Blog Hop Scavenger Hunt. Many of you hopped our blogs and gathered your clues and we thank you so much for playing along. It sounds like everyone had fun! Of all the correct entries we received, we randomly chose.....

Peggy Badker
and
Lillian Child

Congratulations ladies!! You will each receive a set of our new Christmas Designs very soon so you can get going on your Holiday cards! Thanks again to everyone who played and please stay tuned for more contests and prizes to come!

Debbie has created the following project for you to enjoy.....

To make this tag, I wanted to use some Iridescent Ice embossing powder except that I didn't have any. So what I ended up doing is mixing together some clear embossing powder and glitter. Works just as well for me! I wonder what it looks like if you use colored glitter? I will have to give that a try! Using Versamark ink pad, I stamped the Large Filigree Snowflake and Medium Filigree Snowflake onto some Baja Breeze cardstock and embossed using my homemade glittery embossing powder. After heat setting, I layered this onto a tag. I stamped the Christmas Music Background onto some ivory cardstock using Baja Breeze ink. I fitted the ivory piece where I wanted it and then tore it. I used a sponge and added some Baja Breeze ink on all edges Then I cut out the other snowflakes I embossed and layered them together. I stamped the Silent Night, Holy Night sentiment twice using Crumb Cake ink and punched it out using a EK Success punch. I added some lace and ribbon at the top and my tag is finished!

Here is a close-up of the bottom!

Thanks for stopping by today! We'll be back tomorrow with another fun project!

From all of us here at DRS Designs, we Thank You all so much for participating in our Scavenger Hunt Blog Hop and hope you all enjoyed it!
Please come back tomorrow when we announce our 2 lucky winners!

Today I'm showing you a Christmas card I made with the fun loving Wintertime Buddies stamp, the Music Background and I created my own embellishments by using the holly from the Joyful Christmas Mouse stamp.

I colored Santa and the Snowman with Copic Markers and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distressing ink. I stamped the Music Background on off-white cardstock, disressed the edges, and then sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, before crumpling it up in a ball to create the vintage look. I love this background stamp and I promise you'll see more of it from me! I think it makes an very elegant looking Holiday card. The hollies were colored, cut out and adhered in the corners of my focal image.

Here's a close up of those Wintertime Buddies. Adorable, huh?

Thanks again for playing along in our Blog Hop. Stay tuned right here at the DRS Designs Blog to hear of the next opportunity for you to win free stamps!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I stamped and coloured the "Bells and Bows" image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and copics. I then re-stamped the image onto Spellbinders gold craft foil with Black Staz-on ink, cut out the bells only and glued them onto the first image.

I cut it out with the Spellbinders Labels 4 die, popped it up onto the Christmas Music Background and then attached that to my white card base and voila - finished!

Christmas in August?

>> Monday, August 16, 2010

By Debbie Seyer

Yes, Christmas in August is going on in my stamp room this week! Its kinda fun actually. My family looked at me kinda strange because I was playing some Christmas music. But when they saw my cute DRS Designs new releases, they understood! DRS Designs is getting ready to release some new stamps on August 21st and I have a sneek peak for you today!

I made this cute little box with my Scor-pal but before putting it all together, I embossed using the Interlocking Snow Background and white detail embossing powder. The big bow is one of the new releases called Bells and Bows. I stamped it using black ink and colored it using Copic Markers. I cut out just the bow portion of the image and punched a hole for the tag. The tag was made using the A Gift for You image stamped in red and layered onto a scalloped oval die cut. This was a fun and quick little box to make. Plus the new release image just added that extra special something!

If you want to see all the great new releases then you should be sure and check out the DRS Designs Blog Hop Scavenger Hunt that starts August 17! It will be lots of fun!

Jingle All The Way

>> Sunday, August 15, 2010

by Alicia Ekermans - Call Me {Crafty} Al

Woohoo, today marks the start of our preview posts for the upcoming new release!! In less than a week DRS Designs' first round of new Christmas stamps will be up for sale. My card today uses three of the new stamps.

To start off this card I stamped the new Christmas Music Background (P372) in brown onto a square of kraft cardstock. Next I stamped the Bells and Bows (K355) over it with a watermark ink. This image was embossed using clear embossing powder and after it cooled down, I sponged red ink around the image. I just love how you can see the music note background through the bells. I have never tried the resist technique before, but these stamps made it so fun and easy.

To finish off the card I stamped and trimmed out the Jingle All The Way (E308) sentiment and added it to the card front after placing three gold brads across the top.

Make sure to come back tomorrow for another look at the upcoming release!

Today, I have a card for you using the recently released stamp:

Unfortunately, I can easily relate to this sentiment as I have a couple of friends who have had knee replacement. One day I will be going down that path myself so maybe I should keep this card! LOL! I stamped the sentiment with Memento Grey ink. I used the Tim Holtz dies that look like cogs and found brads that look like screw tops for my embellishments. I also used an embossing folder for the background design.
Thanks for stopping by today and tomorrow is our BIG release at DRS Designs. We have a fun scavenger hunt planned so you definitely want to play!

August in the South is  HOT!!! Just HOT!!! So instead of complaining, I thought...why not make the best of it!!! I took the AUGUST stamp and colored it 2 times. then I cut it out and stuck it together to make the sun. Next, I used a die cut and popped it up for the center of the sun. I found some flowers that looked tropical and matched my sun and added them to the bottom. I arranged all of this on a blue background that reminds me of the beautiful Carolina sky and here is my card with of course the PERFECT SENTIMENT!Thank so much for stopping in and keep COOL, Y'all!

A Sneak Peak....

>> Thursday, August 12, 2010

by Sue

Welcome!

Have you checked out our Blog Hop Scavenger Hunt? If you did you may have noticed that our new releases next week will all be Christmas Designs!!! I love Christmas in the summer, even if it doesn't really lower the temp outside!

Today I have a sneak peek for you using three of my favorite new Christmas stamps!

Doesn't it look like I worked hard on this card?? I didn't! I stamped a folded green piece of card stock using our new Holly Leaves Background stamp and black ink. To kick it up a notch I colored just the berries using a gold paint pen.

Next was the fun part - I got to make something new look old and worn! I stamped our new Music Lyric Stamp on ivory paper using black ink then got to work. I distressed the edges, smudged on a little ink memories soft wheat ink, added a little rip here and there, and then curled a couple of edges. Didn't take me too long to have the "antique" look I was looking for.

I stamped the Bells and Bow with black pigment ink and then embossed it using clear embossing powder. I had a slight problem getting the bells just right, but I was finally happy when I used a gold pigment ink pad and a q-tip to color them in. I was done so fast I took the time to stamp the Bells and Bow again and I layered on another bow to give it some POP!

The Happy Holidays is a small part of our Simple Pleasures Christmas Greeting 725G. I stamped it using more black ink and did a little more distressing!

My big decision was should I put the bells in the center of the music or offset it a bit :)

Thanks for visiting today and don't forget to stop by next Tuesday - Thursday to do a little blog hopping and scavenger hunting!

Happy Thursday!

Golf is...

>> Wednesday, August 11, 2010

by Jenny Cierley - Wee Memories

Hi all! Hope your week has been off to a great start. Today I would like to share with you a card I did using Golf is - Square. My Dad is an avid golfer and I love making cards with a 'golf theme' for him.

For this card, I stamped the main image onto white cardstock then colored it in with Copic markers. I then stamped it again onto white cardstock and cut out the golf ball. I added divots into the ball by using my Making Memories tool with a round ball on the end to give it the same texture as a golf ball. I applied it to the image with foam tape. I then added some ribbon treatment and used the Easy Grass Background stamp to make the bottom patterned paper. To finish it off I added some silver dew drops to the corners. Its so hard to make 'manly' cards but I think my Dad will love this one.

Enjoy the rest of your week, thanks for peekin' in!! Hope you will join us again tomorrow! :) :) :)

Happy Healing Card

>> Tuesday, August 10, 2010

by Alicia Ekermans - Call Me {Crafty} Al

Today I am sharing a card with you using Knee Replacement Get Well (G346), from DRS Designs' latest release.

To keep the focus on the sentiment I used a very simple layout and kept embellishments to a minimum. The border in the background is from Flower and Zig Zag Card Edger (P905). After stamping the floral strip on the card base I colored it in with markers.

I used a punch to create the flowers and after adhering the pearl in the center of each, I folded up the petals for extra dimension.

Thank you so much for stopping by today - hope you will return again tomorrow!

Missing Piece

>> Monday, August 9, 2010

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff
I hope your week is off to a great start!

We all love our pets and for most, they are much more than pets...they are family members. When you lose one it's like your family has a missing piece.

For my pet sympathy card, I used several large puzzle piece punches to create the area for the image. I put the puzzle pieces together and attached them (temporarily) to a larger piece of black card stock. then stamped on top and colored with markers. I sponged a little blue ink around the edges, removed the center piece then attached them permanently. To make the black mat for the missing piece, I punched two black puzzle pieces and attached them to the original piece.

I used a stencil I made with a piece of acetate and some scallop edge scissors to create the cloudy sky background. The greeting was stamped on top to finish my 5.5 x 4.25 (A2) card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!

Supplies:
stamps:Pet Angel Group, Loss of Pet Sympathy greeting
paper: white, black
ink: permanent black, soft blueaccessories: markers, various puzzle piece punches, self made cloud stencil

Good Morning Everyone,

It's Karin today with a quick post using some sympathy stamps from the newest release.  Aren't the lilies on the cross so pretty?  They were so easy to color with a couple of Copic markers too.  The main image and sentiment were then placed on the card using some pop dots.
The background was created using one of our great stamps and I have listed the links to all the stamps I used to make this below.

Feel free to use any of the ideas you see on the blog to create your own fab cards with your DRS Designs stamps :)

I thought this would be a cute way to thank someone...like that friend you can ALWAYS count on... for everything and anything...they are PRICELESS.Thanks for stopping in today and make sure to take a look at the new release... there is a wonderful variety of stamps available... so start shopping!

A Bucket of Support

>> Friday, August 6, 2010

Hi Everyone and Happy Friday!

It's Karin posting today and my square card today uses one of the sentiments from this past release, Thank you for your Support.  Since we are in the throws of summer time, these sunflowers and wooden bucket seemed an appropriate choice for the main image. I simply colored it with a combination of Copic markers and Bic Mark-its and cut it out with Nesties.  I love sunflowers with their big happy faces and  I think they are the perfect flower to transition us into fall.

My absolute favorite size of square card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  Why?  It gives you the flexibility to add a sentiment or coordinating image that hangs off the side or top of the card, yet you can still fit it into a standard A2 envelope and not pay extra shipping.  Love that!
I created the background using the background stamp Silhouette Branch, and some ribbon from my stash finished off the card.

Thanks for stopping by today and to see all of the most current releases just click here!

Thursdays with the Otter

>> Thursday, August 5, 2010

Today I have a card for you using the recently released Otter stamp. (255G). Aren't these guys just adorable?

I wanted to create a storybook look so I die cut the otters with a nestie. I added the single line sentiment "Happy Birthday"(B250) but I stamped it on two lines to fit my diecut.
Here is a close up of these adorable otters. I hope you can see the sponged white clouds. I also tore my cardstock to create some waves. I stamped the water with Vicki's versatile stamp (369H). I just love that stamp. It is so versatile! LOL
These are the copics that I used to color the sky and water and otter.
