Easter...The Promise of God's Love

>> Friday, February 26, 2010

I've had my Copic markers for about 2 months now and I swear I've used them everyday thus far.  I decided to change things up a bit yesterday when I sat down to create this card. I colored this new image by DRS Designs with my Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol.  Such a basic technique that takes a bit longer to use than coloring with markers, but it was so much more relaxing!

Creating this card and using the pencils made me realize how much I've started rushing the coloring process when I use my Copic markers. Since the markers are alcohol based, you have to work quickly to blend colors while the ink is still wet.  It was nice not to have to worry about this while coloring this image.  I think the pencils give a softer feel thats more appropriate for this image as well.

I've paired this new image, Easter Oval with Lily and Crosses with an older sentiment, Easter Is God's Love, also from DRS Designs.  I think these stamps are a perfect match, don't you?  The sentiment says what this image implies and that is what Easter is all about after all!

Smiles,
Jennifer

I have to say that I like the look of colored pencils over the look of markers. Just my opinion, of course.
