Mr and Mrs

>> Monday, March 4, 2024

Hello crafty friends. I have another wedding card to share with you. I am ramping up my wedding and graduation cards as I will again have a few graduations and weddings to attend this next year.

For my card today:

  • I love the look of the GIRLY SWIRLY BIRTHDAY CAKE - 454M and thought it would be perfect for a wedding cake by simply masking the candles. I stamped the cake on acetate first to know where the candles would show up.
  • Next, I stamped the cake on scrap paper and cut off the cake leaving the candles.
  • I then put the card stock under the acetate and then lined up the candles scrap paper directly under where they were stamped on the acetate.
  • I then removed the acetate and left the mask and stamped the cake.
  • Next. I stamped the MR & MRS - 175F next to the cake.
  • I then colored the panel with pencils and finished the flowers with a few gems.

I really love finding new ways to stretch my stamps and this is a great stamp for many occasions.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Birthday Sharks and Cake

>> Wednesday, May 26, 2021

 Hello crafty friends,

Hope your week is going well!

We have a lot of birthdays in our family in this summer so I am getting a jump on the birthday cards. The new Push-Pin image adds a fun element to any card without a lot of work.  I used it on this fun shark card along with a sticky note.

To make the background, I just drug my ink pad across the paper.  Then I stamped the Killer Birthday Greeting and the new Push-pin on a sticky note.  Next, I stamped three Happy Sharks (I did one in reverse) and water colored them.

I thought it would be fun to pop up the push-pin so I did another birthday card and popped it up.  I also added in a Girly Swirly Birthday Cake and a portion of the new Friendly Note Greeting.

I water colored the cake, splattered the left over paint on the background and added in a lot of Stickles for fun.  Did you notice the Stickles on the sharks' teeth on my first card?  I wanted them to look sharp and fun.

Heres to a great rest of your week!

Nancy

Happy Birthday!

>> Thursday, April 12, 2018

Good morning!

In our family April and May are full of birthdays
so I thought I'd do a birthday card today.
For this card I used DRS stamps: 451L Birthday Candle Burst,

My border at the bottom was done with the Spellbinders curved border set.
My embellishments are 2 little enamel stars.
This is a bright colorful birthday card sure to bring a smile!

This card is using a sketch from SplitCoastStampers
I penciled in the horizon and a shore line
so that I could add some Liquid Pearls white and glitter to the shore.
I used pierced rectangle dies from ODBD and 3 enamel hearts for embellishments.
This card makes you want to take a walk through the sand and put your
toes in the ocean doesn't it? I love the sound of waves crashing on the shore
or on a rocky cliff.  What a wonderful sound!
Thanks for visiting today!!

Cupcake Love

>> Friday, January 29, 2016

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! I have one last Valentine to share today. I started this after I saw the Color Challenge & the Clean & Simple Challenge on Splitcoast this week. The colors were mint, strawberry & espresso w/ a dessert option of a Valentine. The CAS challenge was to make something sweet.

And I thought to myself...what's sweeter than a chocolate cupcake w/ icing & sprinkles? So I stamped, colored & cut out the cupcake & added some stickles to the icing. The white bg was dry embossed & I had a big heart punch that fit inside the heart centerpiece almost exactly, so I sponged on green ink & put it behind the cupcake.
The larger layer is actually just a frame that was sitting there, so I embossed it w/ frame folder & sponged the green ink over the top of it. After adding the greeting, it just seemed to need something, so I die cut the little banner, masked just the top of it & stamped the polka dots & woven plaid inside the flags.

Here's a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the DRS Thursday Challenge..this week..Sparkle &\ Shine! Have a great weekend!
Supplies:
ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versafine onyx & sepia, Distress inks worn lipstick, cracked pistachio
paper: Neenah white
accessories: Copic markers, stickles, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & B, Nested Pennant dies, ODBD Pennant Row die, Sizzix embossing folders (Love Set #3 & Folksy Fun Posey), Marvy big heart punch

Hey, Cupcake!

>> Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Since DRS Designs last release a few weeks ago, I've been working diligently on increasing my stash of sympathy cards.  I've noticed that my birthday card stash has been depleted as well, and now it's time to replenish them. Here's a rather clean and simple one I made using the new Hey Cupcake Greeting (365B) and the Cherry Top Cupcake image (463E).

I colored the cupcake with Copic markers and shaded it with brown ink while it was in a Nestability die. I went for a realistic look by adding Diamond Glaze to the cherry to give it a shiny, wet look. (Sorry that's hard to see in this picture!) I matted it with red card stock, which really helped make the cherry stand out. Next, I worked on the sentiment banner and shaded it the same way as I did for the image and matted it with red card stock as well. I embellished the banner by adding a small paper flower and adhered it to the banner with a petite pink brad. I adhered 2 pink panels in the background and stamped them both with the Splatter Background (855H) and red ink and then assembled the card front as shown.  Three red rhinestones placed in the upper right corner were the final touch. Cute and easy, don't you think? ;-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Hey, Cupcake!

>> Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Hi Everyone,

This new sentiment stamp from DRS Designs, Hey, Cupcake!, might literally be referring to me after all the treats I ate over the holiday weekend...lol!

Seriously though, I knew I wanted to pair the greeting with the actual Cherry Top Cupcake stamp from the current catalog, so I stamped a row of them and added a punched border to the panel.  I decided I wanted one cupcake to stand out, so I stamped and fussy cut one, and paper pieced the cupcake liner onto it. The striped patterned paper was created using the Large Original Plaid background stamp and then I attached it using a dimensional dot.

I finished off the card with some glitter on the cherry, a piece of twine and matching button.

Thanks for stopping by to visit!

Hey Cupcake!

>> Monday, March 30, 2015

My card today features our newest Birthday Party pig. Isn't he the cutest? I paired him with the new Hey Cupcake sentiment and the Birthday Wishes sentiment. The card was pretty simple. I started by stamping the Birthday Party Pig in Memento Black ink, coloring him with copics, die cutting and layering him on a scalloped oval. I added some clear stickles to give the balloon some sparkle. The two sentiments were stamped on the white panel and then layered on the same blue CS. The red layer was embossed with the CB birthday folder and layered on blue before attaching everything to the white card base.

Be sure to check out this week's challenge here at DRS Designs. We'd love to have you play along!!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cupcake Birthday

>> Friday, March 27, 2015

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well and you're enjoying a nice first week of spring! Trees & (some) flowers have started blooming here...just in time for another cold front with lows in the 20's! Plants are confused and so am I. Just located my fave pair of capri jeans and now I have to drag out the long pants & sweatshirts again. Or maybe I just have to wash them...right, like you don't say "oh, it's warmer, I'll just wait until next week to wash those".

Anyway, DRS Designs has a very cute, big grin piggie coming out and this is him! And a fun "Hey, Cupcake!" greeting. So as I'm putting my card together, I start thinking...I need a cupcake for him. What to do? I started looking at my punches, figuring I should be able to put something together. And turns out I did have a couple that worked. The bottom of the cupcake is a little teacup punch. I cut off the handle and drew a few lines to make the cake part. The frosting part is a little cloud punch and I drew a few lines to look like frosting. I had a little candle punch, so that was handy. I think it worked out perfectly!
The Wordy Birthday greeting was stamped 3 times on the background & my cupcake bearing pig was added on top. I used a black glaze pen to add the 3 black dots in the lower right corner. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
p.s.  Be sure to check out the DRS Thursday Challenge....Pet Store! Have any animal or bird on your creation...easy peasy!

paper: white, black
