Lots of Color and a Touch of Magic

Hello Crafty friends,

The inspiration for today's card was THIS page of shamrock images and the DRS Designs Rainbow Gold Greeting. To create the shamrock field, I used a variety of different shamrock images from DRS Designs: Small Shamrock Group, Tall Shamrocks, and Hat Full of Shamrocks. I stamped these charming designs on watercolor paper with various inks and filled in any open shamrocks with watercolor paints. I wanted to create a sense of luck and whimsey.

I outlined any of the small shamrocks with an Evergreen marker from the Artistry set from Altnew. That is why a few of them look a bit wonky. I hope the DRS Designs artists don't go on strike after seeing my crazy outlining.  

Once the shamrock field was complete, I added a touch of magic by embellishing some of the shamrocks with golden centers using Stickles. I decided that rather than paint a rainbow, I would make the sky rainbow colors using a rainbow of watercolor wash. Interestingly, this particular watercolor paper, which was a fun find from my local Thrift store, is the thickest and most absorbent I have ever encountered. It eagerly absorbed the paint, making blending a bit of a challenge.  

After the paint dried, I stamped the fun Rainbow Gold Greeting in Pine Ink from Close to My Heart which I also sponged on the edges. To add the finishing touch, I outlined the edge of the watercolor paper with a shimmering gold paint pen.  

Despite the challenges with the paper, I feel this card is fun and holds a touch of St. Patrick's Day magic.

Nip of Irish Cheer

 

Hello Crafty friends. I have a St. Patty's Day card to share with you using a technique called Stack, Cut, Shuffle. The idea of the technique is to get several cards out of just a few different papers to quickly build up your stash.  This is also another way you can stretch your supplies for a few different cards.

For my card today, I focused on using St. Patrick's colors.

• I grabbed a dark green and a light green card stock and stacked them together holding on to them very tightly and then making just 2 cuts on them.
• Once I had the layers cut, I used one piece of the dark green and one piece of the light green and layered them with the white card base.
• Next, I stamped the NIP OF IRISH CHEER GREETING - 319G in dark green on the light green.
• The card was finished by adding doodled dash marks (faux stitching) on all of the layers.

St. Patty's Day

 We have another 10 days till St. Patrick's so here is another fun St. Patty's Day card to share.

I used DRS stamps: Shamrock Background, Nip of Irish Cheer and Everything Irish

I stamped all over the background with the Sharocks then stamped the sentiment on top with black.  The image was stamped and die cut separately then popped up as was the green frame.

I added some green sparkle with Stickles.

Wee Bit Irish

Hi Everyone,

Inspired by Nancy's whimsical card last week, I decided to do the same, and use the Wee Bit Irish Greeting  to make a card in that theme. 

I began by stamping Michelle Monkey a few times in random spots on the card, leaving room to place my sentiment.  I colored them up, stamped in some tiny shamrocks using the Small Shamrock Group, and added a few hats that I fussy cut from the Top Hat St. Patrick's Day Greeting stamp.

All that was left for me to do, was add the greeting and adhere the panels to a green card base!

A Little St. Pat's Day Mischief

St. Patrick's Day always screams fun and mischief to me, so my card today is full of both. 

I stamped the Hat Full of Shamrocks and We Bit Irish Greeting on watercolor paper before watercoloring them with Watercolor markers.  To add fun and mischief, I stamped Leonard the Pig Dance of Joy and painted him green too. I also stamped the hat image one more time and fussy cut one little shamrock that Leonard picked (for the mischief part).  Inside I added Shamrocks & Shenanigans and another green Leonard. 

Hope your week is going well.  I am one day away from retirement, so I am super excited.

Tiled St. Patrick's Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends,

Don't you love quick and easy cards?  To make this card, I stamped the Small Shamrock Group by inking it various green inks and spraying it with water.  Then I ran the panel through my old Big Shot using the SU! Tin Tile embossing folder. I quickly distressed the edges with green ink and then lined it with a gold paint pen.

To finish it off, I added the Wee Bit Irish greeting which I sponged with green ink and lined with a gold pen.

St.Paddy’s

Hi Everyone, 

I've moved on to the popular March holiday St. Patrick's Day with my card share today.  

I used the new Nip of Irish Cheer Greeting as the focal point and attached it to an embossed background and some patterned paper made using green and orange ink, along with the following stamps:

Small Shamrock Group

For embellishments, I stamped and fussy cut a clover and some cheer, which I colored green to match the holiday!  Those stamps can be found below:

Irish Thoughts

Hello Crafty Friends,

I love this new sentiment from DRS Designs:  A Wee Bit Irish Greeting.  St. Pat's Day has passed for this year, but for some reason, I still think this would work as a note card to a friend.  To make this card,  I watercolored the clover with green adding a bit of pink to some of the edges while they were still wet. I then splattered the whole thing with the leftover paint.  

This one makes me smile.  Seems like we may need a few more days during the year when we need to feel close to each other.  Maybe a Sunflower day to all feel a little ukrainian. Just a thought.

We're All Irish

 Hi Everyone,

I know St. Patrick's Day was last week, but I had to show one last card because the sentiment is too cute to save for next year!

I stamped the Wee Bit Irish Greeting (115D), die cut it and added a bit of green sponging.  I thought the Western Dancing Couple, who are more cowboy than Irish, would be perfect for the card especially if I colored up their clothing in green, instead of denim colors.  I fussy cut them and attached them to an embossed music background. 

A shamrock embossing folder was used for the background panel and I added the Irish Good Luck Circle next to the sentiment to finish off the card.

Get Your Irish On!

Hello crafty friends!

I have one more St. Patrick's card to share today.

 

I used DRS Designs: Small Shamrock Group, Everything Irish and Irish On

Stamped sentiment and image together then die cut with a stitched square die.

Die cut a larger square from glitter paper then set aside.

Next, I stamped the Shamrock group multiple times on a white strip using a medium green ink, 

I used the square die point up to cut the chevron on my pennate. 

The white background was embossed with a shamrock embossing folder.

I put all my pieces together lining each with glitter paper.

To add a little finishing touch, I added two die cut shamrocks to one corner of the image square.

St Patrick's Day Wishes from Sean

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have been into making ATC coins lately.  Someone asked what I did with them.  For the most part, I trade them with other artists and/or I keep them in a collection book (like you keep baseball cards in), but sometimes I add them to cards.  This week, I used Sean from Sean & the Rainbow and I tucked him behind the Hat Full of Shamrocks. I also cut up most of the The Shamrocks & Shenanigan's Greeting as well (I put the rest of it inside). I wanted to share him so I added him to an Ink/Spray/Smash background with a touch of gold added.  The images were colored with alcohol markers and touches of gold paint (which looks like smudges in my picture but sparkle like crazy IRL). 

I think this captures the fun of St. Patrick's Day.

 Hi Everyone,

Happy Fat Tuesday! While I don't have a Mardi Gras card to share, I do have one celebrating St. Patrick's Day and all things green.  

I made a background by stamping half using the Shamrock Background and then dry embossing over the whole thing, adding a strip of matching glitter down the center.  

The Small Beer Mugs were stamped, colored and fussy cut before I added them to my die cut circles.  I did have to use a mirror image stamp, so that I could have the mugs facing each other in a toast.  I added the cheers portion using the Best Year Cheers Greeting stamp.

Normally I would use the Brewtiful Day Greeting for a Halloween card with a potion on it, but I thought it worked with my green beer for St. Patrick's Day too.

For Each Petal...

 

I am working on a few St Patrick's  Day cards and just had to bring out SEAN & THE RAINBOW - 521L for a card.

For my card:

• I stamped SEAN & THE RAINBOW - 521L with Memento Black ink and colored it with copics. 
• I then used just the top line in the PETALS OF A SHAMROCK GREETING - 459G right under the image.
• I then die cut the panel with a stitched die cut and popped it up on dimensionals.

St. Patrick's

 Hello crafty friends!

Next holiday?  Of course, St. Patrick's Day!!

What's more St. Patrick's than shamrocks and beer? Today I've used DRS Designs: Top Hat St. Patrick's, Small Shamrock Group, Shamrock Circle,  and Large Beer Mug.  

I stamped the beer mug first and then masked and stamped the Shamrock Circle. Next, I stamped the sentiment then die cut with a stitched oval. 

The beer foam is done with Liquid Applique and a heat gun. I cut a mat from glitter paper using another larger oval.

The background layer was stamped using green with the Shamrock Group.

Bunny Buns!

Good morning friends!

I also used some Elizabeth Craft Designs dies and some Amazing Paper Grace dies.

My second card is just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

Petals of a Shamrock

 

I love looking for ways to focus on a sentiment and still add a different look to a card.

• Using the PETALS OF A SHAMROCK GREETING - 459G I stamped it on the white card stock.
• Sponging a few green shamrocks over the sentiment was next.
• I punched a couple of additional shamrocks and placed them over the sentiment stamping the sentiment over those punched shamrocks.
• Those additional shamrocks were then put on dimensionals and popped up over the sentiment.
• The card was finished off with gold sequins to pick up the gold metallic layer.

Get Your Irish On!

 Good morning!

Hey I told you last week that you could find this little frog just about anywhere!  Here he is again, getting his hands on the pot of gold!  Could have been getting into that glass of Ale first I think!

So today I have used the Toad Made For You, Everything Irish and Irish On along with a shamrock embossing folder and a few stitched dies.  The nesting stitched circles made a great rainbow (to find that pot of gold at the end of, right?) and then I used a stitched 3/4 circle and a stitched banner die as well.

I used some green glitter glue on the shamrocks in the image and some green enamel dots on the banner.

I also used some Liquid Applique on the ale foam then puffed it with a heat gun!

Hope you like it; it was a ton of fun to make!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Hello everyone!

Now Valentine's Day is over time to start thinking of all those St. Patrick's cards you are wanting to make either to give to kids, grandkids or hey, just to make them! LOL!

Here is a couple of fun ones for you (you can find this green frog anywhere!!!) 👀

For the background I used an embossing folder with shamrocks then I made a plaid strip (actually did 2 at once) with the Woven Plaid and 3 colors of green ink. 

For the image I stamped the little frog, Toad Made For You, first then masked him and stamped the St. Patrick's Pot of Gold.  I die cut him with a cross-stitch circle die and put everything together.

For my next card I used the other plaid strip I made on top of the same shamrock embossing folder, this time on white,

I stamped the little frog first, masked then stamped the Shamrock Circle, cut it out with a circle die then mounted it on another circle done in green.  I put a dot of green Stickles in the center of each shamrock.

I stamped the Top Hat St. Patrick's Day on a separate piece of white and cut it out with an oval die.

After stamping the Top Hat I sponged the edge with green ink.  The sentiment and the circle are popped up.

Shamrocks

Hi Everyone,

Did you have a happy Valentine's Day?  After more than 30 years of marriage, we don't really celebrate specifically, but we did some small things over the weekend.  I purchased us a box of heart shaped caramel chocolates, we had pizza on Saturday night, I exchanged valentine cards with one of my bestie's from high school, and we had a homemade steak dinner before the Super Bowl. That seems like enough celebration for us old folks...lol!

Anyway, on to a St. Patrick's card for me!   

This starts with a pro tip. Whenever you make a card, always stamp an extra sentiment or image and save it.  That way it's super easy to make a card in that theme the next time you need it!  Do I always do this? No.  However, when I come across stamped images and sentiments when I did do this, I'm so glad!  

Here I die cut the stamped Blessings Outnumber Greeting, along with colored Everything Irish image that colored and fussy cut.

 

I distressed an embossed shamrock background, so the green would show through the black, and I added a panel I made using the Shamrock Scroll.

I'm ready to get my Irish on!  You can too with stamps from DRS Designs!
