Soldiers of America

>> Monday, September 11, 2023

On this day I remember the men and women who we lost and will never forget.

My card is dedicated to those lives and families. While they may not have been military this sentiment is still very appropriate for today.

  • For the card base, I sponged the stripes and the blue and then used a star stencil to add the stars over the sponged blue.
  • Next, I stamped the SOLDIERS OF AMERICA GREETING - 918L and glued it over the flag.
  • The card was finished with 3 large star gems.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card today.

Army Proud

>> Tuesday, July 25, 2023

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick card share to celebrate our military today.  I had to color the Army Proud emblem a lighter green, so that it would show up against the dark Camouflage Background.

I also cut that green background about an inch smaller than the card base, so that I could stamp around it using the camo stamp again.

Happy Stamping!

U.S. Airforce Proud

>> Monday, July 3, 2023

For my card today, I used the new AIR FORCE PROUD - 152G image.

  • I cut red and white stripes 1/4 inches and alternated them on my card base and then cut 1/4 inch in blue for the under the red and white and added the blue again on the top.
  • Next, I stamped the AIR FORCE PROUD - 152G image and colored it with copics.
  • I fussy cut the AIR FORCE PROUD - 152G image and popped it up on dimensionals.

Thank you so much for stopping my to check out my card this week.

Background was done with the shaving cream/ink marbling technique.  It's been a long time since I've done that one so I'm not at all sure I did it right but I did get a few usable, good smelling backgrounds out of it!! LOL!

This one shows the shine from the glitter pens.

Marines Collage

>> Wednesday, June 28, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends.

Don't you love a good collage?  Today, I made up a collage using the new Marines Proud image.

I also used these images:

First I sponged the background and then I stamped all the images.  The Marines Proud image was stamped seperately and bordered in Stickles.

Hope your week is going well!

US Marines & A Wedding

>> Tuesday, June 27, 2023

Hi Everyone,

Just a couple of simple cards for my post that were made using easy layouts and some trusty ribbons on each one.

I can't help but keep with a star theme when using these military emblems, so I embossed the background and die cut the Marine Proud and fussy cut the matching Anchor.  I finished it off with a ribbon of matching stars.

June really kicks off wedding season, so I was thrilled to make a card featuring the new Blending Lives Greeting.  It was lovely enough on its own, so I kept it monochromatic and added a die cut flower and some silver embellished ribbon.

Be sure to stop by the DRS Designs shop to see all of these stamps and much, much more!

Have a great day!

Air Force

>> Tuesday, June 20, 2023

 Hi Everyone,

In keeping with the summertime and American colors of red, white and blue, I went ahead used them for this military card share.

The stars on my embossing folder matched the stars on the Star Wreath, so that's how that choice happened.  I embossed both the wreath and the Air Force Proud emblem and then die cut them out, layering them on top of each other.

I used the Thank You For Your Service for my sentiment and colored in the stars and words on that, and the emblem with a red marker.  A few punched stars were added to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Red, White and Blue

>> Tuesday, June 13, 2023

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple od patriotic cards for today's share here on the blog.

This first one is mostly dies and embossing, and I tried to keep with a stars and stripes theme, using the Starry Background and the Thank You for Your Service stamps.  As I was completing it, I added a few punched stars foe embellishments.

I was trying to keep the red, white and blue theme going and remembered the phrase, "Red sky in morning, sailors take warning," so I sponged up some water and sky, adding the tree line from Mountain & Treeline 2 in 1 Scene at the shore.

I figured who would rescue someone from the waters but the Coast Guard, so I stamped and embossed the Coast Guard Proud Emblem and attached it to the card.

Nontraditonal Twists

>> Wednesday, June 7, 2023

I really like the new U.S. Military Proud collection, and today I am sharing some non-traditional twists on the U.S  Army and U.S. Navy coins.

This first one was inspired by a burlap wreath. To replicate it, I drew some burlap and a bit of plaid.  A bunch of Stickles were added because I love how it makes the card really standout.  I think this would work well for a woman soldier, but would work for a man too.

On this one, I used a Stamperia ship pipe stencil that was colored up using several shades of ink and a torn paper and distress technique. It gives the coin a little funky vintage look.  It would work well for someone retired from the Navy.  Plenty of Stickles were used on this one as well.
I hope your week is going well!

Hugz,

Nancy

Military Vibes

>> Wednesday, May 31, 2023

Hello Crafty Friends,

Do you ever get lost watching YouTube videos? I watched THIS cool artist over the weekend, and was inspired by his distressing technique and quick action.  I didn't want to spray paint my card stock so I watercolored it, edged it in black, and dipped crumpled paper in white and blue paint and also some black ink.  It produced a cool effect.  I also added in some Stickle stars and stamped the new Thank You For Your Service Greeting.

Here is another one with less paint and less stars.
Keeping with the military vibes, I was asked to make a congratulations card for a man who was just promoted to colonel in the Air Force.  The new Air Force Proud is perfect for this occassion.
I also used the Congratulations from the bottom of the new Blending Lives Greeting.  The blue background panel was sponged with Close to My Heart Sapphire ink, and there are a lot of Stickles on this - it shines brightly IRL.  The new Military Proud collection can be use for so many occassions - birthday, entering the military, Memorial day, Veterans day, promotions, awards, and retirement.  I was inspired by THIS card by Caterina when making this one.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Hugz,

Nancy

Army Proud

>> Tuesday, May 30, 2023

Hi Everyone,

I was in need of a couple of cards and had little time to make them, so I went with my favorite Dogwood Branch stamp that would work for both, and a couple of sentiments.

I simply stamped the With Sympathy Greeting and the flowers multiple times, adding color by stamping using a small square ink pad.

I did the same here, but added a die cut Brush Thank You.  Some glitter glue was added for some flair.

Finally, I made another star filled card to honor our military, using the following stamps:

Military Proud

>> Monday, May 29, 2023

I have a couple of cards for you today. My first card is a Navy themed card.

For my card:

  • I used the new NAVY PROUD - 142G image. I stamped the image on white and then stamped it again and cut out the US Navy portion.
  • Next, I colored the US Navy letters, the stars and the rope with yellow copics.
  • I then fussy cut the image and popped the US Navy portion up on dimensionals.
  • Using a yellow stripe and navy stripe I added a twisted paper clip to the strips to add a bit of interest and again popped up the NAVY PROUD - 142G image.
  • I then finished the card with the YOU ARE MY HERO GREETING - 1085C.

My second card is an Army themed card.

I love all the new military stamps and can't wait to use the others as I have a few family and friends who serve in different branches of our military that I love sending cards.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my cards this week.

Thank You

>> Thursday, May 25, 2023

 Hello fellow crafters!

Coming up is the U.S. Memorial Day weekend so I am sharing a card I made with the new release stamps from DRS.  I used Thank You for Your Service, Navy Proud and an older favorite Stars and Stripes Border

I chose to do the new Navy Proud because both my dad and my step-dad were in the Navy during WWII. My dad served in the Pacific.
My step-dad was a younger man and never made it to active duty because the war ended but he trained in bombing runs (or torpedoes from planes) into Lake Tahoe. I always thought that was so interesting.
Here are some photos in remembrance.

These were all taken during the war.

Navy Proud

>> Tuesday, May 23, 2023

 Hi Everyone,

Since we're coming up on Memorial Day weekend, I thought I would share a military themed card.  DRS Designs has recently released a group of military emblems and my card today showcases Navy Proud.

I took inspiration from some of the emblems I saw online, which contained the colors of yellow and blue.  I heat embossed the emblem and also the background made using the Starry Background stamp.

To complete the card, I added a die cut banner along with a few die cut stars.

This card is one I made for a friend's birthday, and I took inspiration from this card:

Thank You to Our Heroes

>> Monday, September 5, 2022

With it being labor day in the United States I thought I would share a few patriotic cards.

My first card is a sympathy card.

For this card:

    For the inside:

I used only half of the Silhouette Soldiers - 1032M on the right side of the card and stamped the You Are My Hero Greeting - 1085C in red to keep the patriotic colors.

I have a second card to share today.

  • For the base layer on this card I used a stars and stripes stencil and added red and blue to the stencil.
  • Next, the Silhouette Soldiers - 1032M was stamped over the stencil in black.
  • For the sentiment I used just a portion of the Season of Thanks Oval - 828K and white heat embossed it on black card stock popping it up on dimensionals.
  • The card was finished with a few scattered gems.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my cards this week.

Patriotic Sympathy

>> Wednesday, October 20, 2021

Hello crafty friends.

Taking a little break from Fall and Halloween to make two sympathy cards for the recent loss of a soldier.  He was assigned to the US/Mexico border and contracted Covid.  Young, healthy, and with many dreams of a fabulous future.  So sad.

I wanted to do a patrotic card as he died while on assignment and the family is so proud of his miltary service.

I started with tea bags that had been brewed, dried, emptied, and placed on paper with gesso.  Then I used water color paint to paint loose stripes.  After the paint dried, I stamped on the Silhouette Soldiers and Brush In Deepest Sympathy

The first one was only lightly distressed and had Stickles added in the blue for the feeling of stars.

The next one was more deeply distressed and had more wrinkles from the tea bags.
This idea would work well for Veteran's Day which is just around the corner (November 11th) and celebrated by many countries to honor their Veterans.

Hope you are having a wonderful and crafty week!

Hugz,

Nancy

Stars and Stripes Forever!

>> Thursday, July 1, 2021

Good morning!
Just in time for the 4th.
A heroes patriotic card for our heroes who fought the fight of freedom so the rest of us celebrate our our independence.
Here's to our stars and stripes!
I used DRS Designs stamps: Stars and Stripes Forever and Silhouette Soldiers.
I fussy cut the soldiers and separated them to go on each side of the sentiment.
I used a die from Spellbinders to make the stripes and an embossing folder from Cuttlebug
using the letter press technique for the stars.
The silver balls and corners are stickers.

I used a Misti to get the silhouette really black and solid using VersaFine Claire Nocturn.
Thanks for visiting today!

Have a crafty day!

Poppies and Memories

>> Wednesday, June 30, 2021

Hello crafty friends.

I love poppies - they are so pretty.  In a town near us, there is something called the Poppy Project.  They fill a field in near the center of town with ceramic poppies all made by a pottery shop downtown.  they have them up on Memorial Day weekend.  These are some of the facts.

The poppies fill up the fields.  You can have one dedicated to a service member who died in the line of duty, and they hang a satin ribbon from a poppy.  It is breath taking to see all the gorgeous flowers.
Right near the poppies, they have a picture of her son who died in the line of duty.  This town flies these flags with fallen citizens on them all around town.  They fly them from Memorial Day through Fourth of July.  Very cool.
I visited her pottery shop this weekend and was inspired by her poppy flowers (you can buy them).  I wanted to do something with poppies and be very patriotic so I  loosely painted some poppies.  Then I stamped the Large Stained Glass stamp over them.  Next, I did a loose stiped background with water colors and stamped the Script Font Background stamp over it.  I topped it off with the God Bless America Greeting
I rubbed some Vintage Photo Distress Ink all over the images to age them a bit and added on a wooden heart I painted red.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  I love getting inspiration from other talented people, and this Poppy Project really grabs my heart.

Hugz
