Happy Fall Card

Wow, I can hardly believe I am typing this, but this will be the last card I share as a member of the DRS Designs design team. It has been such a pleasure to work with all of the wonderful ladies who own the company, as well as the other fantastic artists on the team. Although I may not be sharing DRS Designs creations on this blog any longer, I am sure to be showing them on my blog.

For today's card I have create a sort of 'scrappy' card. I used some of the supplies I usually reserve for my scrapbooks (alphabet dies and letter stickers) to create this colorful Fall Card. To start the card off I stamped the NEW Single Fall Tree (F468) in brown ink onto the natural colored cardstock. Next I used various shades of markers and made small dots around the tree limbs and on the 'ground' to represent fall-colored leaves.

To create my sentiment for the card I die-cut the word 'Fall' in red and beside that I adhered 'happy' using some tiny letter stickers I had colored. The orange on the bottom of the card was embossed with small dots then topped with a bordered punch yellow CS and some green twine cord.

Simple Fall Wreath Card

When I first saw the NEW Autumn Wreath (M429) I knew I wanted the image to 'speak for itself' on a card. I thought it would be a great chance to create a CAS (clean & simple) card.

I started by stamping the wreath in a dark orange ink onto an off-white cardstock. A die was used to cut and emboss the image and then it was placed on a card base of the same color. The sentiment, Beauty of an Autumn Day (G788), was stamped in a dark brown ink, then matted with brown cardstock. This would be an easy way to make a lot of cards to send to family and friends for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Autumn Greetings

I just love Fall. I love the cooler temperatures, the pretty leaves and the color palette that is popular for creating during this season. If it was appropriate I would make every card with earth tones. That is why the new releases at DRS Designs are some of my all-time favorites.

For my card today I have used the NEW Fall Leaf with Acorn (F471) image along with the Small Autumn Greeting (B422) sentiment. I took inspiration from the colored image when choosing the orange color of the cardstock and ribbon. I stamped the sentiment onto the background cardstock, then used an embossing folder to get the texture on that piece.

To finish off the card I punched a strip of cork paper, then pleated the silk ribbon across it. The image, and its mat were die cut, and adhered with dimensionals.

Autumn Flowers - Midnight Madness Sketch 78

DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's sketch at the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge blog (MMSC78) and I had a fun time playing along. Using one of DRS Designs' New Releases (along with a couple oldies, but goodies) and the sketch to the left, I created the Fall-themed card below.

On the card above I stamped the NEW Autumn Flower Spray (L452) onto an orangeish-gold die cut piece of cardstock, then colored in parts of it with markers. In order to avoid completely covering up part of this beautiful stamp, I stamped the Beauty of An Autumn Day (G788) sentiment onto vellum and created a 'band' around the front of the card. Everything was layered together and the very bottom layer (light green) has Vicki's Versatile Background (H369) stamped in brown.

Brilliant Fall - Card Patterns 88

For my card today I have used Sketch 88 along with two of the BRAND NEW stamps that DRS Designs has just released! Check out the New Releases Page to see all of the wonderful new Fall stamps they have available for purchase.

To start my card I stamped Jumping Into Autumn (M498) onto an off-white cardstock, then colored the cutie and his pile of leaves with markers. The image was matted with red cardstock, which matches a few of the leaves in the pile. The sentiment, Brilliant Fall Greeting (D502), was stamped onto a gold cardstock with brown ink, then  a small triangle was cut out of the left end for a bit of visual interest.

Because my image was so prominent on the page I didn't want the vertical strip from the sketch to get lost behind it. In its place, and to help hold the image onto the card, I used a mini clothespin. This helped to add some dimension and I was so glad to be able to use one of these, which I have been holding onto for a couple of months. :)

You're Invited...

Getting excited for Halloween this weekend? Going to or attending any parties? Today I am going to share an invite using one of DRS Designs' NEW stamps that would be perfect for a Halloween get-together.

The NEW Halloween Party Invite (M399) made this invite so quick and easy to put together. All I had to do was stamp it once, color in the little bit of cauldron at the bottom, then layer all of my cardstocks together.

On the green strip I used the Double Deal Halloween Bats and Stars (P653) then hand cut the wavy edge out. I used this same stamp on last week's Witching Halloween post. As I mentioned then the stamp is like getting 2 in 1!

Spooky Halloween Card

With Halloween coming up in a week, I thought I would share a card today that uses some of the awesome Halloween images available HERE in the DRS Designs online store.

To start off my card I used parts of the NEW Eeeek Background (H402) on a strip of orange carnival tickets. I inked just a couple of the words, then stamped it onto the open space on each of the tickets. I then inked the edges of a paper doily and stamped the Spooky Halloween Greeting (F664) onto the center. I covered up the Os in 'Spooooky' with 2 googly eyes. Next Spencer the Not So Spooky Ghost (D408) was stamped onto white cardstock and cut out.

To finish the card I layered all of the pieced mentioned above onto a black card base that had Spencer embossed in the background.

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge Sponsorship

Today marks the start of DRS Designs' sponsorship at the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge blog!

The main panel on the card uses one of DRS Designs brand NEW Halloween images - Broomstick Stella Witch (H415)!! I stamped her, along with Witching You A Happy Halloween Greeting (F1040), onto the white cardstock then colored the image in with COPIC markers.

The pattern on the orange strip was created by stamping one half of the Double Deal Halloween Bats and Stars (P653) repeatedly from top to bottom. The awesome thing about this stamp is how it is like 2 stamps in one, check out the link above to see what  I mean.

Have A Fang-tastic Halloween!

Aren't the new Halloween stamps from DRS Designs awesome?! I had such a fun time creating today's card using one of the new releases - Fangtastic Halloween Greeting (F391) and an oldie but goodie - Goofy Bat (D381).

To start my card I created my own orange and white patterned paper using the bat stamp. Next the sentiment was stamped in the same color ink and then die cut. A small black strip of cardstock was edged with a drippy goo border punch, then adhered below the sentiment.

To finish my card off I stamped the bat in black, cut it out by hand then adhered it to the top corner of the sentiment block. The gems used on this card were originally clear, but I used my markers to color them black. I thought this tied into the colors of the card better.

Being A Witch... Pricess - Card Patterns Sponsorship

To start out I used the Easy Dot Background (H628) stamp to create the polk-dotted purple and white background paper. The image, Witchly Accessories (K154), was stamped onto white cardstock then colored with COPIC markers. Before die-cutting the image I snipped the broom handle a bit so it would stick outside of the die for an 'outside of the box' look.

The sentiment, Priceless Halloween Greeting (G433), was stamped onto a bright orange cardstock strip, then the edge was punched with the Drippy Goo border. A bright green die cut mat was placed on the card, then the image and sentiment strip were adhered over it.

Wrapped In Love Christmas Gift Tag

Hi all, it is Alicia, and I am back with another creation using one of the fabulous NEW DRS Designs Christmas images! I have been seeing some wonderful tags lately on various blogs, so I wanted to give it a try myself.

I started off by stamping the Greatest Gift Wrapped in Love Christmas Greeting (G1017) onto a scrap of kraft cardstock. I inked the edges, rounded the corners and added two red gems. Next I stamped the Holly Background (H365) in white onto red and green cardstock scraps. The red strip was placed across the bottom of a die cut kraft tag. I punched a circle of the green cardstock and layered that on top of an inked paper doily. Once everything was stamped/ready to go I put everything together on the tag and stapled some red ric rac at the top.

Noel Card

I am having so much fun creating with and sharing the cards I have made using all of the new Christmas releases from DRS Designs!

For today's card I stamped the Luke Holiday Verse (L972) repeatedly on the kraft cardstock in watermark ink to create the background. Then I stamped the NEW Nativity Noel (L337) n this piece, as well as an off-white cardstock. I cut the manger scene out of the kraft piece, matted it on a red cardstock, then adhered it to the card front. Next I cut the off-white copy, keeping only the manger scene, and placed it in the open area of the kraft copy. To add some sparkle I used glitter on the manger and star.

Are You CLAUStrophobic?

Welcome back!! Aren't you enjoying all of the sample using the new Christmas releases from DRS Designs?! Today I am sharing another sample with you, this one using the 'Claus'trophic Christmas Greeting (367G).

For today's card I created a square section of Santa's jacket to go with the sentiment. To do this I used paper with a suede feel in burgundy, black and white. The entire square was covered with the burgundy, then I created a belt using a strip of the black. To finish the coat off I used my deckle scissors on a piece of white and created the belt buckle with gold cardstock. The sentiment was die cut, then adhered behind 'Santa' with the edge overhanging just a bit. To tie in the belt buckle I used a couple gold brads above and below the sentiment.

Jingle All The Way

Woohoo, today marks the start of our preview posts for the upcoming new release!! In less than a week DRS Designs' first round of new Christmas stamps will be up for sale. My card today uses three of the new stamps.

To start off this card I stamped the new Christmas Music Background (P372) in brown onto a square of kraft cardstock. Next I stamped the Bells and Bows (K355) over it with a watermark ink. This image was embossed using clear embossing powder and after it cooled down, I sponged red ink around the image. I just love how you can see the music note background through the bells. I have never tried the resist technique before, but these stamps made it so fun and easy.

To finish off the card I stamped and trimmed out the Jingle All The Way (E308) sentiment and added it to the card front after placing three gold brads across the top.

Happy Healing Card

Today I am sharing a card with you using Knee Replacement Get Well (G346), from DRS Designs' latest release.

To keep the focus on the sentiment I used a very simple layout and kept embellishments to a minimum. The border in the background is from Flower and Zig Zag Card Edger (P905). After stamping the floral strip on the card base I colored it in with markers.

I used a punch to create the flowers and after adhering the pearl in the center of each, I folded up the petals for extra dimension.

Tuesday Morning Sketches - Christmas in July

DRS Designs is sponsoring the final week of Tuesday Morning Sketches 'Christmas In July' Challenge. For this challenge you can choose any of their sketches from the last year and create a card using it. For full details, check out today's post on their blog.

For my card I chose to rotate and use Sketch #43 (shown at left). Instead of using paper and a scalloped border for the background, I stamped a scene of rolling hills and trees using DRS Designs' Triple Tree with Snow (L004) stamp.

I tied some burgandy lace around the front of the card and then the Spirit of Christmas Greeting (H706), which was stamped and matted with burgandy, was placed over it with dimensional foam. As a final touch I added three yellow gems in the upper right corner.
