Happy Halloween

>> Thursday, September 21, 2023

Hello there crafty friends!
Today I am sharing some Halloween cards.
For my first card, I've used DRS stamps: Spooky Jack Halloween and Fancy Pumpkin.

I used 3 spider rhinestones at the bottom.

My second card uses DRS Stamps: Silhouette Witch Cauldron and Halloween Arc

The background was made using a marbling technique using shaving cream and re-inkers.
I stamped over the background using Versafine Claire.

Thank you for visiting today, go get crafty!

I absolutely love how the sky came out on this image. I decided to let this image take center stage on the card.

    For the card:

  • I used the HALLOWEEN CROW/WITCH FRAME - 670H and colored it up with copics. I started with a deep burgundy at the top then red, orange and 2 yellows to color the center image.
  • Next, I colored the frame a light grey.
  • The image was then fussy cut and popped up on dimensionals.
  • To mirror the stripes on the image I added black bands at the top and bottom to frame the image and then layered on a coordinating grey to pick up the grey I used on the image.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Happy Haunting

I thought it is about time I work on a few Halloween cards. For this card I thought it would be fun to create a candy corn shaped card.

  • To create the candy corn shape, I first cut off one side of the black card stock base. I then used that cut off piece as a template for the other side of the card.
  • Next, I cut down the white card base and again used the cut off black as a template to get the same angle on the white card base.
  • I then added the orange and yellow and turned the white piece over and used my scissors to cut the orange to fit the shape.
  • Once the candy corn was glued down, I stamped the HAPPY HAUNTING HAT - 310F and colored it with copics.
  • I cut the HAPPY HAUNTING HAT - 310F with a circle die cut then cut an orange layer slightly larger and finished with a scalloped black layer.
  • I have a bag of these orange bows on my craft table that I am trying to use up and I thought one would be perfect to add to the front of the card.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Beware of Zombies!

>> Wednesday, September 8, 2021

I love cute Halloween cards, but today I have something on the spookier side.

I used one of the Tim Holtz dolls and blacked out his eyes.  My daugher said he reminds her of the elevator man in Tower of Terror.  I drew in a little stitch on his chin too and roughed him up a bit.

The top panel features the new Halloween Crow/Witch Frame and the Beware of Zombies Sign.  the background has the Spooky Eyes Background.  I did a clear embossing powder on my base panel after sponging on versamark through a scrip stencil.

Hope your week is going well!

Nancy

One Page Wonders - Fall and Halloween

>> Wednesday, September 1, 2021

Today's 5 cards all came from the same ink/spray/smash watercolor page that I made.  Once the panel was done, I cut it up and then did water color stamping (ink up your image with distress ink, spray with water and then stamp).

On this first card, I stamped the Open Leaf and the Script Font Background.  I added on the Hayrides Harvest Greeting splashed with the same colors.

On the backgound of this one, I stamped the Spooky Limb and the Pumpkin Pile.  Next I added a Priceless Halloween Greeting Panel and the new Witches Books and Hat Image.  You can also see a bit of Script Font Background too.

The new Silhouette Witch Cauldron and the Empty Spider Web  (along with Script Font Background) make up this one.

I love this new Witch Ya Halloween Greeting and it goes nicely with the Winter Trees and the tiny little witch from 4 in 1 Halloween Silhouettes

Lastly, I have the Cattail Milk Pail, Count Your Blessings and Script Font Background.
Once my original panel dried, these were super easy and fast cards.  I did take a little of the ink mixed with water to color in a bit of some of the images.

Hope these have inspired you to make something quick and fun as well.

Hugz,

Nancy

Happy Halloween

>> Tuesday, August 31, 2021

 Hi Everyone,

With September starting tomorrow, fall will be here before we know it, and in my house, Halloween is the kick off to the holiday season.  I've extoled my love of candy corn previously here on the blog, and next to candy, stamping is my another of my favorite things for the holidays.

This first monochromatic card features the new Halloween Crow/Witch Frame, which was stamped, heat embossed and die cut using a rectangle die.  I layered it all up using dimensional foam tape and attached it to the card base stamped using the Accent Bats.  A simple strip of black glitter finished it off.

Since my rectangle dies were still out on my craft table, I used them again on my second card.  I decided to feature the Witch Books and Hat, so I stamped, colored and fussy cut it out.  I dry embossed the first rectangle layer, and stamped the second using the Spooky Eyes.  The background was stamped using the Empty Spider Web and my drippy goo punch has to make and appearance, at least once a season.

I added two purple strips of glitter and for the sentiment, I used the beginning portion of the Witches Brew Halloween Greeting, to match the whole magic spell theme of the card.

Be sure to check out all the Halloween goodies at DRS Designs!

Like Gnome Other!

>> Thursday, August 26, 2021

 Good morning!
Here is a Halloween card with some fun colors!
I used the open plain with various fun new Halloween colors that make great
cards for kids or maybe friends that don't like the scarier stuff.
I made the mushroom strip by stamping and masking some of the fun toadstool/mushroom DRS stamps plus the Mushroom Sign with DRS new Gnome Halloween sentiment.
My Gnome was colored in my bg colors.

My next card is an easel card.
I love making these cards because you can feature more
especially when sentiments are a bit bigger (not really the case here
but I decided  this would make a great easel card anyway!

I really like making little scenes and it really is easy with a bit of masking and forethought as to which to stamp first.  It helps me if I stamp the scene in no particular order onto scratch paper first then I can see more clearly which to stamp first and then mask.
I used a bit of white chalk pencil to try to get a glow around ghost and moon but that did not turn out as well as I wanted. Dang!  I used Wink of Stella on the moon and on the vellum ghost.
Thanks for visiting today!

I love Halloween (the day before my birthday) AND gnomes, so I was super excited about this new Witch Gnome image being released this week.

Isn't the new Halloween Gnome Greeting fun a well?

I made my background panels using vellum, scribbling on some alcohol markers, adding some rubbing alcohol, and splatters of ink and alcohol untill it looked magical enough.

Ghouls Having Fun

>> Sunday, August 9, 2020

I am in love with this card. Many years ago when my son was little my mother in law use to send him cards and letters that included fun things for him to play with.

When I got the new 4 IN 1 HALLOWEEN SILHOUETTES I immediately thought of those cute things she would mail him and thought oh how she would have loved a card to play tic tac toe.

I stamped the crow on the green and stamped the flying witch on green and the die cut the pieces. I used strips of black  paper to create the board and finished with the GHOULS WANNA HAVE FUN GREETING - 057E sentiment.

I adhered the pieces using sticky tape that can easily remove the pieces.

When I showed this to my mother in law she just loved it. Thanks for the inspiration mom.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card.

Slimeline Trick or Treat

>> Friday, August 7, 2020

by Julie Warner -The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! We've had almost a thunderstorm a day around here. Front yard is back to being a marsh again & my rain boots are getting a work out. Kind of aggravating when they sneak up on you. Bright sunny & hot when I run into the store. Come out a few minutes later & it's pouring. Of course the umbrella is in the car & I get soaked.

For my card today, I thought I'd try a slimline. They're all the rage right now & I've been having fun w/ some new dies I have. I  started by masking the moon & sponging in the sky & ground then removed the mask & put a reverse mask on & sponged in the moon. Then I put this into my Misti & stamped the trees a few times, the fence a few times & finally the witch & bats. I put the greeting onto it's own circle then matted it & the long scene w/ yellow.
Here's a look at the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Ghost Fun

>> Wednesday, July 22, 2020

You all probably know how much I love ghost related cards, so I am so thrilled that DRS came out with two new ghosts. I see using these ghosts a lot on my haunted places scrapbook pages!

My first card uses the 3 in 1 Silhouette Halloween Tree, Spirit of Halloween Greeting and the Leaning Ghost. It is a super easy card made with an Ink/Spray/Smash background.

I had several leftover background pieces so I made another card but this time, I sponged Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo all around the edges - gives the sky an eerie light.  I added in the witch from the 4 in 1 Halloween Silhouettes.

Super quick and easy Halloween cards.

Hugz,

Nancy

Frightful Halloween

>> Tuesday, July 21, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I had so much fun stamping with these new Halloween stamps.  I think I say this every year when making cards for the fall season, but it is my favorite time to make cards!  Thoughts of cooler weather, the rich colors, the sun setting sooner and the candy treats are some of the things that make me look forward to the coming months.

I started this card knowing I wanted to use the Silhouette Halloween 3 in 1 Tree, so I sponged a purple background, masking a spot for the moon.  Along with the new tree stamp, I used the
Spooky Tree Limb and the Accent Bats to fill out the scene.

The new Frightful & Delightful Halloween Greeting, along with the glitter embellished
Leaning Ghost, was stamped and added with some dimensional foam tape.

For my second card, I began by stamping the Moonlight & Magic Halloween Greeting, embellishing it by stamping the witch from the 4 in 1 Halloween Silhouettes, in the moon. Playing off the shape of the moon, I used a circle die cut and matted it in yellow and added some blue sponging for the sky.

For the background, I used the Splatter Background stamp and added two strips of black and gold glitter.

Keep checking in with us here at the blog for more Halloween cards, and to see all of these stamps, just hop on over to the DRS Designs store!

Have a great day!

Drink Up Witches!

>> Saturday, September 29, 2018

Welcome!!

I started my card by stamping our Witches Cauldron on white card stock 2 times and then a third time using what was once called a "flip, flop block" so the cauldron would have the broom handle on the opposite side.  Once they were colored using water color pencils and a blender pen I fussy cut them and when I got to the swirling steam I just cut it off.  Once then were attached to my green background I missed the swirls, so I just inked up that portion of the stamp and stamped it directly on the green card.  I stamped out new Drink Up Witches greeting on white, cut it to size, sponged the edges and layered it on black.  Everything was then attached to a black panel and then a folded purple card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Drink Up Witches

>> Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Hi Everyone,

I've got a sneak peek for you today!  DRS Designs has some super fun new Halloween stamps coming your way this week, and for today's card share,  I've paired one of them up with a few stamps from the current catalog.

The Drink Up Witches (721G) stamp is one of the newbies, and I stamped, colored and die cut it out, adding a black mat. I did the same thing using the Witch Feet stamp and set them aside while I embossed the background using a grapes embossing folder (Darice).  Since DRS Designs also has a
Bunch of Grapes stamp, I stamped and colored up a strip that I bordered with some drippy green goo.

I assembled the card and added some glitter to the drink and embellished the buckle on the witch hat using a gold gel pen.

I carried the beverage theme to the inside of the card simply by using these two stamps:

Be sure to stop by the store for all the new releases on September 19th!  The Halloween season is upon us, so feel free to bust open that candy and start stamping :)

Have a great day!

Wicked Halloween Brewing

>> Friday, October 20, 2017

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff
 Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! It's only a little more than week until Halloween! I guess I had better get some candy for the little (& not so little) trick or treaters. Yeah, there are always a few that look like they are probably getting ready to graduate high school, but I don't mind. The adorable little ones in their bunny outfits & Cinderella dresses just make you smile 😃

So before Halloween arrives, I have one last Halloween card. For this, I stamped the Magic Potions Shelf & added more lines above & below to look like a solid cabinet type shelf. After masking, I stamped the Witch Feet & greeting then colored everything. The Hat was stamped separately, colored & fussy cut. I made a slit along the top of the shelf to insert it. The gradient bg was sponged & I used part for the front & the rest as a frame for the inside.
Here's a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
paper:  Staples 110# white, X-Press It white
ink:  Memento tuxedo black,  (Kaleidacolor melon melody used on inside & for sponging)
accessories:  Misti, Copic markers, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & B dies
