Thinking of You

>> Monday, April 1, 2024

I realized while going through my stamps that I did not have a stamp that just said Thinking of You. Well that just gets me going through all of my stamps to say how can I make a card with this sentiment if I don't have just that sentiment. I know, look at all of my sentiments and see if there is another I can use and yes, indeed I found one.

For my card:

  • I used a scrap watercolor paper and sponged 2 different blue distress oxide inks with the dark ink at the bottom.
  • Next, I spritzed water over the panel to get the rain effect.
  • I then die cut an umbrella and some clouds to add to the panel.
  • I found with the THINKING OF YOU AT CHRISTMAS GREETING - 183D the perfect font and sentiment. I heat embossed just the Thinking of You in white on black card stock and popped it up on dimensionals.

If you don't have this THINKING OF YOU AT CHRISTMAS GREETING - 183D in your collection, I encourage you to look for it in the DRS Designs shop because this can be used year-round for a Thinking of You card.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card.

Always Something to be Thankful For

>> Monday, March 6, 2023

For my card today I decided to do an April Showers bring May flowers theme.

  • This ALWAYS THANKFUL GREETING - 040F is perfect to pair with my April showers bring May flowers theme. I stamped the sentiment in blue and then die cut the sentiment with a cloud stitched die cut.
  • Next, I used the RAINDROP BACKGROUND - 1012H and stamped it all over the card base.
  • I die cut the umbrella in navy and added white panels to the top and popped the umbrella up on dimensionals.
  • The card was finished with a few punched blue flowers and Nuvo Drops were added to the center.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my card this week.

Graduation Day!

>> Thursday, May 9, 2019

Good morning!
I used my school colors this time, orange, black and white from Aviation
High School, go Falcons!
I also used a hat and diploma die from I.O.
The frame is popped up.

This next card is a bit of fun using the new
The frame is popped up again and the sentiment was divided into 2 separate lines.  I reversed the pig
because I wanted the hand up to hold the umbrella and he is popped up with the frame..  The umbrella was fussy cut.  The background was clear stamped and embossed then inked with a sponge.
I drew the rainbow on with markers.

Silly but Fashionable Bird!

>> Thursday, March 14, 2019

Good morning!
I used some ideas from "Susie's Exclusive Fashions" (Susie Williams aka Susie Australia), with her permission of course, for my Silly Bird this morning! Susie is my friend from SCS and she is known for dressing birds.  I used DRS stamps: Large Original Plaid for the vest and background, Silly Bird, Extra Tweet Day, Shamrockin Day and Small Shamrock Group

The hat and bow tie are dies from Karen Buriston.  I used green glitter paper
and ribbon as well as a sketch from SCS.

This second card made my hubby laugh out loud!
He loved the bathing beauty Silly Bird.  I made her suit using the Polka Dot Background
and a black pen.  Other DRS stamps used: Brush Beach Sunrise, Sending You Sunshine
I used the frame die by MFT's, Umbrella by ODBD, chair, seagulls, fence, sandcastle
and sand toys dies by I.O.

So, what can you think of to dress these Silly birds?
Looks fun, right? It is!
Thanks for visiting today!

Beach Time!

>> Friday, June 8, 2018

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

 Happy Friday!
And Happy Birthday...to me! Yep..it's the beginning of another trip around the sun for me. I hope your week has gone well! Summer has arrived, school is out so let the vacations begin! I think it calls for a little beach time. Going to the beach would be a vacay for me now. Not so much when I was a kid. I grew up in a beach town & I could see the bay from my house. The actual Padre Island was only 20 minutes away. Beach time was all the time! So this is for the memories & all you landlubbers who didn't/don't have a beach nearby.

I got my inspiration for this from a clock I saw & I thought I could create something similar. To make my beach clock, I die cut the circles & on the smaller one, stamped & colored the Adirondack Chair amp; Umbrella   The sandals, seagull & sailboat were drawn in w/ a multiliner pen & the bg was colored in. I inked the Woodgrain Bg w/ London fog & stamped off once before stamping across the scene, then I used a gray Copic to accentuate the board lines. The die cut numbers & clock hands were added on top. For the greeting, I stamped part of it & die cut the beach part. I had to die cut a few different words from the set then cut & paste them together.
Here's a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend & don't forget the sunscreen!

Supplies:
paper: Staples 110# white
ink:  Memento tuxedo black, London fog
accessories: Copic markers, white gel pen, ODBD numbers dies,  Lil' Inker stitched rectangles dies, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & circles dies, Cheery Lynn clock dies, Sizzix Celebrations words dies, Copic multiliner pen

A Little Rain

>> Saturday, October 15, 2016

Good morning!!

At Splitcoaststampers we had this cute sketch to follow.  I decided to use it for today's rainbow card.
I used DRS stamps: Raindrop Background 1012H, Umbrella 817G, Rainbow Greeting 391E, Polka Dots Background 688P
I love this umbrella with all the sections, it makes it so fun to color in multiple colors! After coloring I thought of adding the rain so I masked the umbrella and stamped the rain in soft gray (don't ask me why I didn't think of rain BEFORE I colored!) I like the way it turned out. To do my sentiment I stamped it on my stamp aligner acrylic, cleaned the stamp off completely, covered half the sentiment with tape and inked the top, took the tape off and aligned the top part on the top edge of my card then did the whole process again for the bottom part of the sentiment on the bottom of my card.  I love the way that turned out too.
My pink layer is embossed Swiss dot to match my dot center strip.
I used Stitched dies from ODBD and some little "candy" dots from Doodlebug Designs.
Well, that's about it, thanks for visiting today!!!

Sunset Beach

>> Saturday, July 2, 2016

Good morning!
Here is another card for the Heat is On!
I stamped and masked the castle then stamped the boat and sea grass while the mask was on.  I removed that mask and made a mask for the sun (1" circle punch).  I drew on a horizon then placed my reverse mask (the part with the hole) on the horizon and sponged in the yellow sun (I also masked off the water).  I took that mask off and put the 1" circle over the sun and masked the water all the way across while I sponged in sky colors with sponges and Distress Inks.  The rest of the card is colored with Copic markers.  I added a bit of Liquid applique and glitter to make waves.  I cut the curved part of the umbrella off and extended it when I cut it out to be a beach umbrella.  I colored the bottom part with dark gray to cover any stamp lines.  The boat sails have some sky color reflected on them and the water has some shimmery sun color reflected on it.  I used some Wink of Stella on some parts to add more shimmer.
I cut the frame from some pierced/stitched rectangles and popped it up.  Then added some gauze to the beach as well as my cut out shells.
Thanks for visiting today!
