CAS Cancer Encouragement Card

Hello crafty friends.

I love this Cancer Is.... greeting from DRS.  Today I paired it with the flowers from the Dogwood Branch using Shortbread ink from CTMH and a bit of Stickles. 

It is a CAS card that is super easy and quick to make, but the impact is big.  Lovely words that are so true.

Congrats!

Good morning!

I used a paw print embossing folder in the letterpress style by inking the folder with a brayer

then running it through the cutting machine.

I stamped Let's Play Puppy on white then die cut with a Cottage Cutz die.

I stamped the Dog Paw Print on white, die cut then stamped the sentiment New Pet Congratulation then popped it up on my Dog Paw Print Background. 

To embellish I added black pearls to each corner.

My next card uses the cute as can be Jenny Giraffe

I also used Jungle Out There and Expect The Unexpected.

The paper die is from Pink Posh.

Scene Builder

 Hi Everyone. Thanks for stopping by today. If you are a regular visitor to DRS Designs, then you have seen some beautiful scenes created using the new 2 in 1 scene builders (045P and 087P). These new images make it so easy to create scenes. And you can make them as complicated or as simple as you wish.

For this card I started with water color paper and stamped both images with Archival Black and Memento Bamboo inks. I used Nuvo Aqua Flow pens and water color pencils to color in the areas and then added the panel to a black card base. I used the same black CS for the greeting. This was super easy to create.

This next card uses the same 2 in 1 scene builder images. I wanted to add the cabin to this scene, so I first stamped it with Archival black ink and colored it with Copics, then I used a mask to cover the cabin and stamped the mountain and tree 2 in 1 scene images (045P) along with the fence line from the river rocks and fenceline 2 in 1 scene builder (087P). Once again I used Archival Black and Memento Bamboo inks to stamp the images and colored them with Nuvo Aqua Flow pens and colored pencils. Once everything dried I stamped the sending you happy thoughts greeting and attached the die cut panel to a white card base.

Recycling and Encouragement

Hello crafty friends.

I have ordered a bunch of things since we have had this whole C-19 situation.  I even ordered all the things to re-stain some window trim in my kitchen - you can order almost anything online.  The boxes pile up.  Hubby loves to burn them, but I like to recycle them on cards - it is often a race to see who can get to the box first - lol.

For my card, I only tore off pat of the backing on the box piece..  I did a layer of white paint and then followed it up with some Arteza Gouache Colors for the sky and grass..  I paintted this new Guide Dog Assisted Woman with the Gouache Colors as well.  For the sentiment, I used the new True Ability Greeting.

I painted the lady up to look like one of my best friends who is blind.  She is one of the most amazing people I know.  She has inspired me my whole life.

For this pretty Psalms BAJ page, I  used the Seaside Dock, Every Day A  Miracle Greeting, and Sea Grass.

I stenciled in a background ribbing lightly with some aqua ink and then I did some faux stitching on the left side.

A Nurse Brings...

Happy Monday Everyone. Trust you had a great weekend. DRS Designs has some new images that will soon be available and today I get to share one of the new sentiments called A Nurse Brings...
Both of my cards today only use part of this new sentiment (1084H). With all that's going on with the Covid 19 Pandemic, it's nice to have a greeting especially geared towards nurses.

 I watched some videos on You Tube showing how to make paper masks for cards. I tweaked it a little to make it more to my liking. They are pretty easy to make. You need a piece of lighter weight CS cut to 2 3/4 by 2 1/8 inches, scored at 1/2, 5/8, 1, 1 1/8, 1 1/2, and 1 5/8 inches. You fold every other one mountain and the others valley to create the mask. I added some strong tape to the back to hold the folds in place and then added a piece of folded CS for the edges and baker's twine for the elastic. The background was created using the Woven Plaid background with a couple of DO inks that were also used stamp the splatter background onto the mask. The partial greeting was stamped with the same orange ink, die cut and layered onto orange CS to match the mat for the plaid piece. Some orange gem stones finish it off. I really had fun creating this and will definitely be making some more of this little masks. One video I watched stuffed the mask with cotton balls so it had some dimension, It actually looked like someone was wearing it. Not sure how you'd mail that, so I just left mine flat.

My next card using the same partial greeting, this time it's paired with the little boo boo bear who is covered in bandages. I stamped a piece of kraft CS with the bandage image using light brown ink, cut it into 1/2 inch strips and glued them at an angle onto the card base for my background. The little bear was stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, die cut and layered onto brown CS. I die cut a little heart, glued it onto the bear and added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze. The greeting was stamped with Versafine Black ink, die cut, and layered onto the same brown CS. I added some baker's twine before attaching it to the card base. This time I added some clear gem stones.

Follow Your Heart

Hi Everyone,

Who among us hasn't felt like the odd one of the group, right?  Well I just love this new sentiment which gives all of us permission to be ourselves :)

I began by stamping the School of Fish (W1038E), and coloring them up.   I dry embossed the wave background, and then cut a portion out of the middle for the fish to fit in between.

Stamping and die cutting the new Go with the Flow Follow Your Heart Greeting (W1049E), I attached that to the bottom of the card. To match the sentiment, I added the fish and coral from the 3 in 1 Ocean Floor (W1040H) which were fussy cut.  To finish off the card, I added a few punched hearts as bubbles.

For this card I used the same stamps, but made an underwater scene.

I stamped the Porthole (W1039L) twice, fussy cutting one to use as a mask for stamping the scene outside.  I sponged on some ink and then stamped the coral and seaweed using the 3 in 1 again.  I was afraid I wouldn't have room for the fish, so I ended up stamping and fussy cutting him, and adding him separately.  

Using the Woodgrain stamp I created the background, wrapping the card  with a piece of twine, and using the same sentiment for the greeting.

Encouragement

Hi Everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. We had a hot weekend, but I'm happy to say some cooler weather has arrived today! I've got all the windows open today. I love the fresh air!

My cards today are encouragement cards. I have a friend who's going through a rough spot and I wanted to make a card for her. I came up with two. Not sure yet which one I'll send to her. I began with a piece of white CS, sponged on various colors of TH Distress Oxide Inks and then cut the panel into two pieces to use on my cards. The first one was cut with a FL stitched border die and the second one is just a straight piece layered onto black CS. Next I stamped the sentiments, added some clear sequins and that's it.

Hugs

 

Happy Monday Everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. I managed to come down with bronchitis last week, so I haven't felt like doing much at all, but sleeping! I did get a couple of cards created including the one I'm sharing with you today.

I started with a 4 1/2 inch square piece of teal CS which was scored every 1 1/2 inch in both directions. Next the ornate corner image was stamped in each of the scored squares with VersaMark ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. After layering this panel onto black CS, the gingham ribbon and bow were added. The Hugs sentiment was stamped with Black Onyx ink on white CS, die cut and layered on teal and black CS and attached it to the square panel with foam dots. After adding the black half pearls, everything was placed on the 5 inch square card base.

Plan B Inspiration

I have had a lot of my "Plan A"s go bad lately, but, luckily, a lot of my "Plan B"s have been working out pretty good. This great DRS Designs sentiment, Nothing Goes Right, is great inspiration for people who are facing some Plan A failures.  I stamped it on some white paper and then started sponging some of my favorite distress inks all over.  I wasn't happy with the result so I took a circle I had punched and sponged around it until I was happy with the result.  Next I sponged two of the new hot air balloon images and added them too.

I hope all your "Plan A"s work out this week, but, if not, I hope your "Plan B"s are just as good.

Angel by Your Side

Happy Friday!

I hope your week has gone well and you had a very Happy Easter! Are the kiddos back from Spring Break yet? Today's the last day of spring break in my area. It's been kind of nice not to hear that early school bus (around 6-6:30 am) every morning. Since we live on a  quiet cul-de-sac it always takes them a while to navigate it and w/ the beep-beep of the backer upper it's an attention getter. And since we're on a big hill, you can definitely hear them gunning the engine to make it up. The only thing worse is trying to make it out of our subdivision around 2:30. Almost impossible to break into the wagon train of busses. Last week I got stuck behind them w/ a car full of groceries. With having to stop at almost every house to let the kids out, that was the longest drive home I've ever experienced. Good thing I had snacks!  Kinda tough when you need to pack a lunch to get 5 miles, lol. 

So my card today features this lovely angel image & greeting. While it could definitely be used for a sympathy card, I'm thinking it could just as easily be an encouragement card. I thought she would look wonderful all in white & blue so I kept the coloring simple. Since I colored her hair blonde, I used a yellow mat behind her for contrast. The rest is just die cuts. I did have to use a stamp positioner to move the lines of the greeting closer together to fit in the confined space. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used to color her. If you're wondering about the BV marker, I used it for the shadows on her face & neck. A lot of times when I'm coloring a person (or angel) with very pale skin, I'll use a light blue violet for shadows..it just seems to look better :)

An angel by your side

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a good weekend celebrating Easter. Today my card features our new winged angel image and the sentiment that pairs perfectly with it. I began by stamping the image and sentiment on white CS, then colored the angel with Copics, added some shimmer with a Star dust gelly roll pen, die cut, then sponged some Versacolor lavender ink around the edges while still in the die. I added a lacy ribbon to the lavender panel before attaching it to the darker card base. Once I attached the angel and sentiment I decided it needed a little something in the upper right corner, so I looked through my stash and found this swirl of rhinestones. I think it works.

Not just for "Quilts"

Welcome!

If you're a daily visitor to our blog you know that our new Designer Quilt Square makes awesome quilt blocks in any color, so today I'd like to show you the opposite!

That's right - our quilt square is not just for making quilt squares as you can see by my background today!

And it was so simple too!  On a folded white card (using black dye ink) I stamped our new Designer Quilt Square as close to center as possible and at a diamond angle.  I turned the card on an angle and stamped the quilt square in rows across and down my card.  Using a dark gray marker, I colored in the white spaces between each quilt square.  Then it got really easy!  I stamped our Nothing Goes Right Greeting on white card stock and cut it out in the diamond shape.  The colored tabs were pierced through the corners and it was all layered on a gray to match my marker color. That's it!

Be Thankful

With Thanksgiving very near, I'm reminded of how much I have to be thankful for in my life. Sometimes daily life gets in the way and I tend to take things for granted. I hope to do better to remember and be thankful everyday.

The white card was sponged around the edges to give it the rust color. On a separate piece of white, I stamped the fabric bg a few times in each quarter section w/ different colors then over stamped it w/ the wheat, cattails and leaves. I did the same w/ the main panel bg after die cutting, but I left the die in place  to have the light border. I added a cut out leaf and acorn on either side of my Be Thankful cross.

Enjoy Today

Hi Everyone,

It's Karin posting today and I used one of my favorite color combos (red, yellow, orange) for today's sunny card.

I was playing around with the Polka Dot Background stamp and chose to make these rosettes.  I cut 2 1"x11" stripes of paper in each color and stamped them with polka dots.  I then scored them in 1/2" increments, glued them together, and embellished them with a white button.  The background was stamped in Versamark and embossed with clear powder. The Enjoy Today sentiment was stamped and layered in matching colors to echo the three rosettes.  The finished card measures 5 1/2"x5 1/2".

Lead Me...

Hi there...it's me Cathy. Hope your week is going well. Here is my creation for you for this week...



Another clean and simple card! I used the new Martha Stewart punch anywhere punch for the fancy squares. I used the floral embossing folder to dress them up a little. The card base was embossed with the same folder. I added a vellum butterfly to each square. The sentiment is a new release by DRS Designs. A border punch, ribbon and some jewels finished things off.

Dreams!

It's almost April, can you believe it? Then May will be here before we know it and in May, there are alot of Graduations coming up. When I saw this sentiment, Go Confidently Graduation Sentiment from DRS, I just knew that I wanted to use it for a graduation card for one of my daughter's friends. I stamped the sentiment using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and cut/embossed using Petite Ovals Lg Nestabilities. I used some Distress Ink and a sponge to "shabby" it up a bit and some other fun embellishments to make this sentiment really stand out!

Challenge #15 - Tag it!!

That's right...it's Monday and that means a new challenge here on the DRS Designs blog...today's challenge was to use a tag in your creation. We all have tons of tags...and/or tag dies. You can never have enough tag shapes, right? Well, we thought we would put our designers to the test and see just how creative they could be with the DRS images and tags!!!
