An Interplanetary Birthday!

>> Saturday, May 22, 2010

By: Dawn Knight - Dawn's Rubber Room

I love this saying from DRS Designs and I knew what I was going to do to show it off! I die cut 2 circles with my nesties and then I cuttlebugged them and made them look like the moon and the sun. I also sponged some ink on the "planets" for texture. I die cut the shape that the sentiment is on with my nesties as well. I sponged around the "cloud" with blue ink and used pop dots to raise it up. I cuttlebugged stars on the background to make this a truly "out of this world" card!

BRRRRRR..Happy Father's Day...

By Dawn Knight
I Love this sentiment from DRS Designs new release. It just sounds like something a daddy would say...
So... for Father's Day... You can say it back!!! I used the snow background and stamped it onto sparkley white paper. Then I used a cuttlebug embossing folder and embossed the snow. To make it stand out some more... I sponged it with the same blue ink I stamped the snowflakes in. Then I stamped the sentiment and layered that onto blue card stock and here is my finished creation! I hope you like it and thanks for stopping in! Be sure to check out DRS Designs new releases on the website!

So, today while strolling the aisles of the big box craft store... what do I find??? And on CLEARENCE, no less??? ARROW STICKERS!!! How totally perfect! I layered all of the matching cardstock in 1/4 in increments and then on the white panel, I stamped the sentiment and then I added the epoxy stickers.Quick, easy and sure to brighten someone's day during a challenging time! Pride in my country runs deep.I come from a military family. My niece is getting ready to deploy to Iraq. Her Hubby is there for the third time. These men and women and families make so many sacrifices and I am proud to work for DRS Designs, a stamp company that recognizes that! This card was quick to make and it says so much! I stamped the image and then I colored it in with copic markers. Then I added the red strips on the white paper and punched out some stars and added them to the blue. I think this would be a wonderful card to make and send to our military serving in Iraq and other locations. Thanks for popping by and check out this site for where to send these wonderful cards to our troops.

Oh, how poetic!!! I LOVE the way this card came out! I used the bouncing brayer technique. That technique is so easy and so pretty! I knew that this horse would be prefect for this background! I stamped the horse silhouette and then I added the moon by sponging silver ink through a circle stencil. Then, with a white gel pen, I added the "craters"! I thought that the silver swirls would look pretty and then I added some dew drops for texture and cuz I LOVE them!!! So, here is my super simple stunning card! Try the technique for yourself... and check out DRS for this awesome stamp! Thanks for checking in!

A Different Type of Cards!

>> Saturday, March 20, 2010

By: Dawn Knight

I wanted to use some of my favorite images from DRS and I needed a new way to show them off. SOOO, since the ones I had colored were the food images... I came up with the idea to make RECIPE CARDS! I googled a template for blank recipe cards and I found a bunch of sites that offered them for free. I printed them, cut them out and adhered them to colored paper. I wrote the recipe out and added the colored image. I thought this would be a wonderful gift to make for a new bride or for a hostess gift. I LOVE to think of new ways to add stamping to things to jazz 'em up.
And... here is a little secret... the pink card has an image from the new release that DRS will be previewed beginning on March 29! Keep your eyes peeled to see the fun designs that will be shown! Thanks for stopping by and have a delicious day!

AWWWW... How Could You NOT Feel Better?

>> Saturday, March 13, 2010

By: Dawn Knight
So... My precious little boy is sleeping and my precious little girl is at preschool...AND the dishes are done.
What's a mommy to do? STAMP, of course! I got out my cutie pie gardner stamp from DRS Designs and got busy creating! I love the whole cutie pie collection, but this little gal went with this GET WELL sentiment perfectly! This sentiment has the words "Get Well Soon" on the bottom of this sentiment... but I trimmed it off so that it would fit my nestie and I used it on the inside of the card! Another reason to love unmounted rubber... easy to alter to fit your need!!! (And did I mention CHEAPER???) I colored her with copics and some glitter pens, added the flowers from Petaloo and here is my creation! Thanks for popping by! Have a wonderful, HEALTHY day!

By: Dawn Knight
I don't know about you but I have a HARD time throwing handmade cards out. This bookmark card lets you keep a little bit of the hard work AND have a handy bookmark as well! I made this cute little Ladybug birthday card using the ladybug images and the sentiment from DRS Designs. I followed this tutorial from Splitcoaststampers.com and it was a snap to make! I used nesties on the front to cut the panels. I colored it in with copic markers and I used a gel pen for the dots. For the inside I used the ladybug easy background stamp and the ladybug Happy Birthday sentiment. For the bookmark, I chose the friends sentiment and the smily ladybug to complete the card. Now the Birthday person can remove the bookmark along the perforations and use it in their favorite book! Thanks for stopping in!

Stamps Used:
H779...ladybug background
G695... ladybug tower
F578... smiley ladybug

Wait... Do I Need To Move Farther South?

>> Saturday, February 13, 2010

By: Dawn Knight

I live in North Carolina... and apparently... it's the new Alaska! We have had snow 2 times this year... so I got out the DRS Designs snow lady stamp and started to create! I loved the idea of a non-traditional shaped card! I embossed the sentiment on the front in white and added the gemstone snowflakes. to make it open, I used this little brad as a hinge so the card would slide open as you can see in the next photo.
On the inside, I used this AWESOME Snow lady stamp and colored her with copic markers. I used some die cut shapes and added kissy lips to her with a red glitter pen. so easy and yet I just don't think to make an odd shaped card once in a while! Thanks for popping in and have a great day! Stay warm!

Simple Cards... ME???

>> Saturday, February 6, 2010

By:Dawn Knight
If ya know me... you know that simple cards are so not me.My cards are usually kind of over the top...a party in the envelope before the party even starts! SO, I thought that I would challenge myself...to make clean and simple cards. To me that means a few embellishments and not alot of clutter on the card... so here are my takes on that idea! For the first card i used my nesties and die cut the 2 shapes. This wonderful sentiment fir in there perfectly and the I added the butterflies. I scored the edges with my scor pal and here it is...
For this next card... I did the same thing... only different. I still die cut 2 shapes and I used another wonderful sentiment and the scor pal. Only this time I criss crossed the background. Where they intersected, I added a little pink glitter dot. I used these Calla Lillie's and then... the pink bow.
So that is my take on clean and simple. I hope that you enjoyed these cards and try to do this yourself. I really enjoyed the challenge. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine... You LIGHT Up My Life!!!

OK... So I was in the big box craft store and I noticed in the $1 section this darling lantern.I thought about all of the teacher gifties that I need to make for my daughters teachers for Valentine's Day and decided to dress it up. Let me tell you... it got a WHOLE lot cuter with the addition of this awesome DRS DESIGNS easy background stamp. And the best part??? This took like 20 minutes START TO FINISH to make!!! Here is what I did...
I stamped and embossed the heart background stamp on the vellum card stock and used light pink embossing powder. White would be pretty too. Then I cut the vellum to size and added it OVER the glass panels that were already in this little lantern. Then I used Scor-tape around the top and the bottom to add the ribbon. I got out my super handy BOW EASY gadget and tied this perfect multi-loop bow and adhered it with a glue dot. I tied all kinds of ribbon on the handle and I put a battery operated tea light in the bottom of the lantern. (safety first!) and here is my project. Super quick and EASY and a great way to let someone know that they light up YOUR life! Thanks for stopping by...

Happy Valentines Day DRS Style!

>> Saturday, January 16, 2010

I LOVE this Valentine's Day Heart stamp from DRS. It is so simple and elegant and FUN to color all the little flowers!
This was an easy and simple card to make and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the layout! I used a sketch from SCS... they help me get "unstuck"and Lord knows... DRS always has a stamp that will work PERFECTLY with any sketch! This was the stamp that I chose... I colored the flowers with all different shades of pink Copic markers and then I put yellow stickles in the flower centers... (love my bling!) Next, I tied the ribbon around the front of the card and finished the sketch with the triangles of pink and black. Simple... but so pretty! And I think this card only took about 15 minutes to make... Quick and easy??? I LOVE IT!!!

For this card, I stamped this big XO and colored it with
copic markers. I added white gel pen for the highlights.I
stamped the heart background on white paper and used it for the background. The best part about DRS easy background stamps is
ALWAYS matching the ink, paper and ribbon that you are using in the rest of your card... EXACTLY. You never have to settle for "coming close" again! Then I layered the paper and added the ribbon and here is my card. I love the bright and fun colors and the polka dot ribbon is really FUN!!! So when you are getting ready to make your Valentines cards... Please check out the awesome images that DRS DESIGNS has available. Thanks for stopping by! Have a lovely day!

One Stamp... 3 Different Techniques...and TIME TO SHOP!!!

>> Saturday, January 9, 2010

By:
Dawn Knight
I LOVE getting new stamps. Especially this one... Tree with Snow (m114) one of DRS's New Releases... available for purchase January 9th...That's TODAY!!!
When I got my hands on this one... I knew what I was going to do.
I used different techniques and textures to show different seasons. The first one, I used a sponge to add the leaves and the grass. Then i used white glue and Flower Soft to add the texture and the look of flowers and leaves. This card would be great for spring OR summer. This was a quick card to make and I love the soft look of it. Perfect for that special person, male or female in your life...

For this card,I used vellum and copic markers. I colored on
the BACK of the vellum and then blended the colors with a blender pen made for the copic markers. Then I turned the paper over and stamped the image on the FRONT. I colored the tree and the fence with copic markers as well and then I used my die cuts to make the shapes. I mounted this on white cardstock to show off the background colors. This could be morning or evening...late fall...early winter before the snow flies...ANYTHING!!!How is that for variety? and I am not even DONE yet!!! I have one more card and season to go!
For this card, I stamped the image on white cardstock.Next, I sponged the background and the edges, I added the sun and THEN came the snow!!! I used liquid applique for texture and dimension and then I added stickles for the glimmering snow effect that is coming from the gorgeous bright sun! I used a glitter pen on the fence wires to make it look like snow fell on them as well.I adhered this to an embossed paper that I also sponged and here is the winter card. I LOVE the versatility that this stamp offers. It could be used for a varitey of occasions as well... This is a must have for every stampers collection! I guarntee this will see TONS of ink! Thanks so much for stopping by and remember that all of the fantastic new releases will be available for purchase of the DRS website beginning January 9th... TODAY!!!
