Q-tips and Patriotism

>> Wednesday, July 4, 2018

Today is a special day in the United States - a day full of barbecue, hot dogs, fireworks, and family.  Red, white, and blue are the reigning colors.  My card today celebrates all of that.  It also celebrates Q-tips.  Yes, Q-tips.  I made the striped background of today's cards with a bunch of Q-tips bundled together and dipped in ink.  It is a way to do warp speed pointillism.

After the background was done, I folded it up and sponged on Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain.  Then I stamped on the Starry Background stamp in white ink - you can barely see the stars, but they are there. I sponged on a bit of white ink on the folds too.  I added the Star Wreath and  the Happy Independence Day Greeting  done on black with white embossing powder.

This was super fun to make, and I will never look at Q-tips the same way again!

Hugz and Happy 4th of July if you are celebrating it.

Wonderful patriotic card, Nancy! Your bg looks amazing (they always do!). Love the grid tile look & wreath of cut out stars. Yep..I'm thinking it's time for hubs to fire up the grill! I just wish it wasn't so dang humid outside.
