Happy Retirement- Guys & Gals

>> Saturday, June 3, 2017

Good morning!

I have a retirement card for a guy and one for a gal for you today.
Well, my version anyway!

This first one is for the guy who has been dreamin of spending more time on the lake or ocean, sailing to his heart's content!

I used DRS stamps: New release- God Bless Retirement 168G and also Sailboat 887F.
I drew a line for my horizon and used colored pencils to color the image (I'm practicing,  I don't use them very much!!)
I've popped up my frame and sentiment after die cutting with MFTs dies.
I have had this cut shell for years and even though it is a bit bigger than what I would normally use on a card, it is perfect because both sides are cut flat. (I have no idea where it came from, sorry!)

This next card is for a gal mostly because I think us gals like the idea of traveling or cruising to fun tropical beaches/places when we retire!
The card was done making a pocket for a tag in front, using a sketch from SCS.
The sketch did not call for a pocket but I thought it was the perfect opportunity to make one for the fun retirement sentiment.

I glued the first two panels together then ran it through my Big Shot with a burlap embossing folder (Taylored Expressions).  I then added my image layer gluing only the bottom and right side (I stamped and colored with Copic Markers and stamped an extra left tree, that was easier in this case than the out of the box cutting with my rotary cutter for this angle cut).  Then lastly, I added the coordinating yellow strip on the left side, card base done I stamped and die cut my tag using a Sizzix tag die and then tying multiple tropical colored fibers to it.
My middle layer was done using the new Oxide Inks from Ranger.
In the photo above you have two views, one with the tag in (top left) and the other with the tag out so you can read the whole sentiment.
Hopefully this might give you ideas for a friend or relative who might be retiring in the future...you can be ready!
You could also make these cards for  any occasion just by changing the sentiment.

Thanks for visiting today!

These are wonderful Robin! Your coloring on both is fantastic! What a great idea using the tag for the sentiment inside the sketch - you're always thinking!! While I love how you made the sailboat card and think it's beautiful to look at, that's about as far from my retirement dreams as possible - give me the tropical scene any day!!
