A Zombie Valentine

>> Thursday, January 12, 2017

Welcome

Don't you love how 2 people can look at something and see 2 different things?  I find this especially true with kids, and how I came up with my card today.  Here's my story :)

A couple of weeks ago I posted this card using our newest release stamps...

...a fun, cute little winter scene for people fed up with snow, right?   Not to my 6 year old.  He took one look and asked why zombie hands were wearing mittens.  As I started to explain I realized his version could make a fun card, so that's what I set out to do this week.

Here's what I came up with....

I stamped the same scene, adding a few more mittens this time using our new Skip Winter stamp and our Pine Tree Snowdrifts.  I used much darker markers to color them and used grey ink sponging for my snow drifts and then added rips and stitches using a fine line black marker to try and "zombie" them up a bit.  The sky was sponged with purple and blue inks and then I went over it with grey ink to darken it.

The sentiment took some cutting since I needed to use 3 separate sentiments to piece it all together.
I used the top line from the Skip Winter Greeting, the word Zombie from Zombie Brain Love greeting and the word Hugs from our Monster Hugs greeting.  After I pieced it all together I stamped it in black and colored the Hugs using red, grey and black.  I didn't have a piece of grey paper large enough to fit in back of the greeting so I cut the scrap I had into 4 strips and overlapped them slightly as I adhered them to an extra piece of card stock and added it in back of the greeting.

I stamped the grey background (my last piece) layer using our Versatile Background and black ink and layered it all on a folded black card.

I haven't shown it to my son yet, but I can't wait to see what he thinks about it :)

Thanks for stopping by
Sue

Sue, this is so clever! I thought of zombies when I first saw the stamp too - then I realized that it was snow the mittens were coming out of - funny how we do all think. Love how you cut up and made a new sentiment and how you shaded the snow and made the base bg. Awesome card - LOVE it! Hugz

Oh my goodness Sue! Never would have thought of this! How clever of you. Your zombie sign looks great. Piecing the gray CS makes the layer look like wood. I think it's perfect! Great Valentine for those Zombie fans!
