Pine Cone Blessings

>> Saturday, October 29, 2016

Good morning!
This card features the new Pine Cone with Bow1001G
I also used my favorite sentiment for Christmas, Christmas Blessings 646D.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut the pine cone and added some Diamond Dust to the ends to be like frost or ice crystals.  I cut some greenery (Sizzix) and added the Diamond Dust to them as well.
I cut a square frame from 2 nesting stitched dies from ODBD and cut out the Christmas Blessings with a stitched rectangle die (the square frame and the sentiment are popped up with foam tape).
I added a small gold half ball above my red bow as if a nail was holding the pine cone and bow in place.
That's about it for this card, it's pretty simple.
I love pine cones, we have a LOT of them where I live.  I do decorate with the large Sugar Pine Cones (they are 12" to 18" or so long") I even put a red bow on top at Christmas time.  These Pine Trees are the largest of the pine species  and are native to California and Oregon.  Most people I know who live in other states don't even believe me when I tell them about these pine cones. It IS true though, look them up!  I would say that the new pine cone stamp is from the Ponderosa Pine.  It is one of the prettiest medium sized pine cones used in decorating wreaths and such.  I used to collect boxes of these pine cones for wiring to greenery.
Ok, so much for lessons on Sierra Nevada Mountain pine cones...heehhee!
Have a nice weekend!!

What a beautiful card Robin! I love the colors! The yellow frame is the perfect backdrop to go with your hanging pine cone. I also thank you for the pine cone lesson - I've seen some big ones, but never THAT big....but I do believe you ;)

Such a beautiful card, Robin. You have colored that pine cone beautifully and this is a great layout too. I did something similar (great minds, right?!). Thanks for the pine cone lesson. I'd love to see some of those big ones!! What we have around here are pretty small!
