Dancing in the Rain

>> Saturday, April 25, 2015

Good morning everyone!
I've made a interlocking gatefold card today.  Very easy to make and yet is so cool to look at and open.  The interlocking keeps the card closed really good as well!

Also used were dies from Go Kreate, an Embossing folder, ribbon, acrylic baubles and a corner punch from EK.
The gate fold is made scoring an 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 piece of card stock at 2/18" on each side, leaving 4 1/4 in the middle.  The interlocking layers are made with two nesting dies.  I tape them together so that they stay even to make the frame (aqua in this case) then I use the inside die again to cut my image out (the umbrella panel). Since I had the piece of inside aqua left over, I glued it to the back of my umbrella panel to make it more heavy duty.  You can do it with pretty much any shape as long as your inner piece fits exactly inside your outer piece.
In this case, I kept my outside simple (CAS) by just using the embossing folder on my front panels.  I hope you will go try this out for yourself.  Make one with flowers and add it to this week's challenge (found on Thursday's blog post).
Have a great weekend!!
Robin

How clever is this???? Love how the card opens with the split die cuts! Also love how the CAS on the outside opens to your beautiful and colorful spring hillside!
