Spooky Town

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! TGIF, right? Are the kiddos back in school in your area? I remember always having a sort of guilty relief when my daughter went back to school. Right...like you don't know what I'm talking about! She was so hyper and houdini w/ every lock in the house, even when she was 3. Couldn't take my eyes off of her for a sec. School starting was like...whew! I can breathe again! Kindergarten was great. 1st grade was kind of a nightmare. Her teacher was a drill sergeant who wanted little soldiers. That teacher sent so many notes home w/ all the kids, she had a form note...w/ boxes she would check off, like "forgot to raise his hand", "talking during lunch". REALLY? A 6 yr old talking during lunch (call the lunch police!), or forgetting to raise their hand. Most of them hadn't even mastered tying their shoes or remembering that their mom & dad have names other than "mom & dad".

Speaking of nightmares, how about this Spooky Town? Complete w/ Count Porkula & a big crow standing guard duty. All I need are a couple of tombstones on the ground. This card was mostly just a lot of sponging, using a torn edge mask and some grays & purples inks. The town was also stamped w/ gray so it would look more spooky, misty & off in the distance. I added a punched black fence to ground it a bit and used a white gel pen to add the highlights. A couple of yellow Copics were used for the moon & windows.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

I LOVE spooky town! I don't want to live there, but a visit would be fun :)
I too have a houdini - he's 4 now and I'll be breathing a great big sigh of relief when he hits kindergarten next Sept.

The sponging you did to create that creepy scene is marvelous! Love the yellow highlights in the houses and that adorable Count Porkula :)

Such a cool card!!! I have a 13 year old boy and I remember feeling sad the first few years when school would start, but then I realized how much I could get done without him around. And shopping! The last few years I too have been so happy/relieved when school started again. Being subjected to a teenager 24 hours a day for months is not easy! Ha!!! He's a good kid but 13 is such a rough age. Have fun with your new found crafty time!
