Warm Wishes Winter Scene

Happy Friday!
I hope you've been able to stay warm this week! It has been freaky cold lately...even here in the "deep south". Tuesday we had a low temp of about 6 degrees... -10 with the wind chill, and highs for a few days only in the mid twenties. That seems more like Minnesota than Georgia! Luckily, we didn't have snow. It rained hard before the bottom fell out on the thermometer, but the high wind dried most of it up before it froze so we only had some ice on the deck. I forgot to bring in the hanging bird water/bath and the poor little cardinals & chickadees were ice skating instead of drinking.

So my card today is a nod to those of you who have views like this around you. I was asked to be a guest designer this month for the Color Challenge on Splitcoast and these were the colors chosen...Navy, Island Indigo (Teal), and Razzleberry (a dark pinky-purple).

After masking a wide band, I stamped the winter trees in black and added a circle mask for the moon and used torn paper to mask the snow and sky areas. I sponged on the two inks for the night sky and and a little of the teal for the snow. I added some shadows and used the white ink and splatter background to add the snow. A white gel pen was used to bring out some of the splatters a bit more.
I ended up trimming the image and adding the narrow navy bands and putting it back together. So they would match, I colored them navy using Copics. I also used Copics to add the shadows and deepen the navy parts of the sky. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
Supplies:
ink: Memento tuxedo black, Paris dusk, lilac posies, teal zeal, Colorbox popcorn white chalk ink, Versafine onyx (greeting)
paper: white
accessories: Copic markers, white gel pen, 7/8 circle punch (for moon mask)

Beautiful, love the sky but the shadows on the ground really make this card for me!

This is just gorgeous, Julie! The sky, the shading, the colors are all absolutely fantastic!
I thought the same things as Sue. I DID see trees just like this after our snow on Thursday night.

Wow! Every week I say that, and every week I mean that. Look at those shadows! Talent. Talent. Talent.
