Special Birthday Boy

>> Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Hi Everyone,

Are you like me and find boy, guy and masculine cards so hard to make?  If I can't put a bow on it, or cover it in sparkles, I always seem so lost...lol!

Well, I think this sports themed stamp from DRS Designs named Four Corner Sports was just the thing I needed to make my birthday card.  You get all four images on this one stamp, and I chose to ink them separately and use them to make my background on a card that has the Birthday Boy sentiment as the focus.  I added some Distress Ink to the edges of my card to toughen up the look.  What boys are clean and pristine, right? I love the way this simple card turned out.

In case you were wondering, the football embellishment is one of those "foamies" from the kids area at the craft store.  I bought a whole bunch for favors that I made for a football party ages ago, and yes I still had some leftover.  So happy it looks right at home on this card.

Thanks for visiting us today!

Karin, great job using the strips as dp with the individual balls stamped on them. Great idea. I just may have to borrow it!

I can't tell you how much I LOVE this card! The dark colors, the 4 strips, the sponging. You were certainly on your "game" when you made this :)

What a fabulous "boy" card, Karin! Love the sports strip bg and it's one of those that makes me go "why didn't I think of that?" Great job!
