Sometimes you just know....

...what you want to do with a particular stamp. Not always, but every now and again as I design or see a stamp, I just know. Most of the time it doesn't work exactly as planned, but with a few adjustments here and there it all comes together. I say all of this because that is exactly what happened with this stamp. Since the moment this design got its stock number I knew I wanted to color the background and leave the stamp white (Both of those backgrounds I complained about were just practice!)

Here's the real thing ~

I stamped our new poinsettia image M093 on white card stock using black pigment ink and embossed it using clear embossing powder. I colored the leaves, berries and background using Bic markers. The red background was streaky so to hide it, I covered the entire piece of card stock with versamark ink and then topped it with my own mixture of 1/2 clear embossing powder and 1/2 ultrafine glitter (w/a violet hue). After melting the powder with my heat gun it wasn't quite heavy enough to cover all the streaks, so I simply repeated the process. Now any uneven streaks are barely visible and look like texture/shading. This is way better than my original idea without glitter!

The rest was simple, I layered it with white and then dull gold card stocks and then stamped a 4" strip of card stock with Merry Christmas B364 and instead of cutting it off at the edge I scored it and then folded it under the 3 layers. I mounted this on a folded black card and added the green glitter dot. It was so nice to see it work mostly like I planned I actually enjoyed coloring this one!

Thanks for stopping by!

I love the way the embossing and glitter combination came out. I have to try this technique out some time.
