A Night of Learning

Boy, did I have an wonderful night in my stamping room last night! My card came together just as I had hoped and I got lucky when several things I tried actually worked!

Earlier in the day I was looking at our new Merry Christmas arc stamp and I got to wondering if I could stamp it in a circle. Come to find out it's easy! If you stamp it in the center of all four sides of a 4 3/4" square card you get a circle! The rest of the card came together so quickly I was able to make a 2nd card using totally different paper colors for a totally different look.

This first Christmas Card uses "off color" colors - kind of~

Here's the same card using more traditional red and green.

While I was stamping the second circle I wondered what my card would look like if I turned the stamp around, so when I was finished I just had to try. Here's what I got ~

After finishing the front panel I was about to cut down another full sheet of card stock when I got to thinking, and I realized that I could make a 5" square card while only using a half sheet of card stock. The trick was to leave the front a little short -

When the card is closed it appears to be a regular card. When it's open it just looks stylish! I did add a little surprise inside.

So, what did I learn???

1) Using 1/2 sheet of paper for a 5" square card (you know that one already!)

2) If you color a clear jewel with a red Bic Mark it, you get a pink jewel. If you color a pink jewel with a red Bic Mark it you get a red jewel.

3) On my second card, on the green giga circle layer I colored all the dots in using a white pen. When it was dry I colored over it with my red Bic Mark it and I got bright red on green paper!

4) One of my biggest stamping pet peeves is cleaning black ink off a stamp only to be in a daze and re-ink it using the same black ink.

Stamps Used:

E102 - Merry Christmas Arc

L120 - Holly Giga Circle

H019 - Swag Mega Circle

D936 - Poinsettia Ribbon Slide

and

E102 - Merry Christmas Arc

G309 - Merry and Bright Greeting

F002 - Silhouette Holly

Thanks so much for stamping by!! Have a great weekend!!

Fun new ideas for the arch sentiments! I especially like the large circle -- that would be fun for a circle shaped card, too.

Thanks for the great inspiration!!
