Splendor of Stars!

by Debbie Seyer - A Peek Into My Stamping Room

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great week! I know its only September but now is a great time to start working on those hand-stamped Christmas cards. I love to send my creations to family and friends every holiday season. Plus my family and friends have started to expect something and will even comment when they are late!

Here are a couple of cards I have come up with using some new releases from DRS. While they are super easy, they are definitely do-able, especially for the extra something special card for those you love.

For my first card, I used Large Filigree Star (L1113) and Beauty of Nature Christmas Greeting (F334). I chose a non-tradtional color and size for my card. I used Elegant Eggplant for the cardstock and ink plus my finished card size is 4 x 9". I stamped an extra star and cut it out. Then I applied glitter to the star and popped it up using some 3d foam squares. This card will fit into a regular business envelope. I have found that if you don't make your cards real bulky, there won't be any extra postage. For this card, the knotted ribbon may need to go!! LOL

For my second card, I used Sketch Two from Caardvarks (DRS is the sponsor this week). I love sketches because it just makes things so much easier. All you have to do is pick cardstock, stamps, ink and embellishments! The hard part is done for you.

For this card I used another new release image called Simple Decorated Tree (H010) and the same sentiment as my first card. I used some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye, Riding Hood Red, Mellow Moss and Whisper White cardstock, Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad, Riding Hood Red ink pad, buttons and rhinestones. I colored my tree in with Copic markers. Its hard to see but I stamped the background using Gift Background (H1140) in Riding Hood red ink. I think this a is super sketch. The buttons will probably make the card cost more for postage but frankly, I just don't care! LOL I will pay extra to send it to the ones I love for Christmas!

Hope you will check out all the fun sketches on Caardvarks this week! I had alot of fun making these cards and deciding what I want to make for our family Christmas card. Have a great day!

Beautiful Cards Debbie! Love your take on the 4 x 9 card--I don't think I've ever made a card that size before, but I love the fact that it would fit into a business envelope. Thanks for the idea!

Beautiful cards! The filigree star is one of my new favorites and your elegant card definitely does it justice. Great decorations on the tree, too!!
