By Debbie Seyer - A Peek Into My Stamping Room

Hello Everyone! I recently got my Nov/Dec Paper Crafts magazine in the mail and this month there is a whole section devoted to the Shabby Chic look. So I decided to try my hand at it. Here is my Shabby Chic card:

Now there are alot of different styles that people think are shabby chic. This is just my take on the whole thing! LOL Some of the things used to get a shabby chic look can be - ruffles, buttons, Vintage paper or fabric images, recycling old things on your project, stitching, distressed edges, patterned paper and paint. Now shabby chic is really not "my" thing but its fun to try. I think even DRS Designs images can look great when used in the shabby chic style, don't you?

To start my 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" card, I cut a piece of patterned paper from the Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly Collection. Using a distressing tool, I distressed around the edges, sponged Antique Linen Distress ink and then curled up the two edges. Then I cut a tag out of some Riding Hood Red cardstock. I stamped the Medium Filigree Snowflake image using Versamark for a background. I tied a piece of cream lace onto the tag and adhered it to the patterned paper. On a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, I embossed one Large Filigree Snowflake and one Medium Filigree Snowflake. I used the Faux Craft Ink technique (ink up stamp in the Versamark pad and then ink the stamp using a Dye Ink Pad) stamp and emboss using Iridescent Ice Embossing powder. Careful cut out the snowflake images and using some foam squares, adhere the two snowflakes together. I then added a vintage button in the center using a glue dot. I added a rhinestone to the center of my button and then colored it with a copic marker so it matched the card.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Beauty of Nature Sentiment using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink pad onto Shimmery White cardstock. I cut around the sentiment and then layered it onto a piece of red cardstock. I trimmed the cardstock to match my sentiment and then adhered it to my card.

This was a fun card to make. I don't think the Shabby Chic look is for me all the time but sometimes its good to stretch yourself just alittle bit. Don't you think DRS Designs images are great for just about any style? I sure do! Hope you have a great day!
