Hello and happy Wednesday, y’all!

I’m Julie Warner (justwritedesigns) and I’m so excited to be here as a Guest Designer for DRS Designs for Sept/Oct! I'm a native Texan but I now live in northeast Georgia. (If you want to read a sort of rambling profile, please visit here.) I’ve been a fan of DRS Designs since I bought some images from a show in South Carolina a number of years back. And I know I’ll have a great time with the whole DRS crew!

Autumn is one my favorite subjects for card designs. I love the beautiful colors and images that go along with fall. When I received my images, I immediately thought of a fall picnic when I saw the Picnic Basket. And it goes so perfectly with the Open Plaid background (that’s one of the images I bought and it’s still one of my favorites).

The picnic basket was stamped twice on ivory card stock and twice on cardboard with the coal ink. After coloring both of the ivory images with Prismacolor pencils, I cut them out. One whole image was attached to one of the cardboard cut outs. Only the apple, basket handles and checked cloth were cut out of the second image. These were also attached to cardboard and then attached on top of the first image. I like the dimensional effect this layering gives to the image. I stamped the image one final time onto a larger piece of ivory and cut it out with the Labels 3 die. Leaving the die in place, I sponged on some soft sand ink then attached my dimensional image on top. Two more die cut layers were added.
The largest layer is also on ivory and it was sponged with two of the orange inks from the Kpad.

The large mossy green background was stamped with the Open Plaid background and the leaf green ink. I also used a strip of this for the band. The Autumn Greetings was cut with one of the Oval dies and sponged as before.

I hope you enjoyed this first card. I can almost feel fall in the air. Must be time for a nice Autumn Picnic!
