Paper Piecing Jimbo & the Gang

>> Wednesday, August 26, 2009

This took some time and patience with all the cutting, but I think it was well worth it. I stamped portions of the image on patterned paper from both Stampin' Up and Creative Memories. All the papers are long retired and in my scrap bin. I save the smallest scraps for two purposes: punches & paper piecing. I have 3 large baskets I think that I bought at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but I'm not sure since it's been a couple of years. They are used with a 3 tier shelf. One basket is for SU's bold brights and soft subtles scraps. The second basket is for SU's earth elements and rich regals scraps. The third is for all patterend paper scraps.

The cloud template was made using scallop scissors. I've figured out that it's best to use light colors when sponging a scene as well as sponging some of the ink on scrap paper first so that the color isn't harsh. Rather than sponging in one direction all the time, I also sponge using a twisting motion.

DRS Designs Stamps: Jimbo & the Gang (P891), sentiment (F935)
Paper: white, close to cocoa
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, creamy caramel for sponging the ground, soft sky for sponging the sky, SU close to cocoa marker, Copic markers
Accessories: ribbon, brads, eyelet, handmade cloud template
Techniques: paper piecing
