Butterfly Sympathy

Welcome!

I hate to mention a sad subject, but unfortunately every now and again we all have need for a sympathy card. I like to make mine in advance so I'm ready when that need occurs.

These are the stamps I used ~

and here's my creation~

I started by stamping my background stamp on sage green paper using vintage green dye ink. After cutting off four 3/4" strips I layered them onto slightly larger black strips and then attached them to my folded purple card.

Next I stamped my white cardstock with my sympathy saying (again using vintage green dye ink). After trimming, I dry rubbed the edges with lavender dye ink.

Then came the fun part - I love learning new techniques and I got to do so this week. I was looking at Cathy's Get Well card from Monday and I noticed how cool her leaves looked. She told me about a "rock and roll" stamp technique. So I inked my butterfly using a lavender dye inkpad then "rolled" just the edges on a violet inkpad and then stamped it like normal. WOW. It's a perfect technique for me: quick, simple, and easy, yet really effective. (I'm not sure who came up with this, but my hat's off to them!)

After cutting out my butterflys, I decided to give them even more pizazz so I covered the them with versamark ink and embossed them using clear embossing powder, then attached them to my card.

and now for another installment of ~

Your Tip by Tammy H. - Check out Tanny's blog for her "Most Valuable Tool" tip.

My Trick - When it came time to emboss the butterflys in my card I had already cut them out so I had nothing to hold on to while I was inking and heating it. My solution? I taped a 3/4" x 3" piece of cardstock to the back of both butterflys and voila a handle!

Thanks for stopping by and please send me your tips at submitdrs@yahoo.com I'm sending new release stamps as a thank you for every tip I use here!
