Stamped Dry Embossing

Hello! It's my turn to show you something with these awesome DRS Designs images! You can always see more samples created with these images on my blog: Stamped Smiles. Hope you enjoy my tutorial for you today!
I'm going to show you step by step how to accomplish this really elegant looking technique! Start out with this:

You will need some heavy CARDSTOCK vellum for this technique. I believe it gives the best results that you want. Then you will need some craft pigment ink OR VersaMark. (The colored pigment ink is just easier to see.) and of course you will need clear embossing powder if you're using colored ink OR any other embossing powder you choose.

For this card, I'm using this 2 line Flower Design image that I've cut apart so that I can use each image seperately if I want to. You will NEED to use an outline image for this technique as obviously, a solid image will not work.

What I did was start out by stamping the smaller flower image all over the cardstock vellum. I used a yellow craft ink for this and did not use embossing powder on it as I wanted this to be apart of the BG, so I just used my heat gun to help speed up drying time. You can use whatever images you'd like to make the BG, but don't over-do it as your next step won't stand out as much and this is the part YOU WANT to stand out! Take a look:

I took the larger flower image and stamped it in a rose color pigment ink and then I used my clear embossing powder to emboss these images. Here are the next materials you will need for this step: Your stamped/embossed cardstock vellum piece, a soft mat or cushion, a dry emboss tool and I also like to use a dryer sheet to make the tool roll easier.

Next, you will TURN OVER your stamped vellum piece and lay it face down onto the mat. You can still see the images through the vellum, so now you will take your dry embossing tool and emboss the inside of the flower image. You can do both flowers if desired, but I just embossed the larger flower images on this sample. (So that you can see the difference!)

Here's a neat little tip I like to point out: After you've dry embossed your images, you can actually use some glue dots in those areas to attach it to your card! The glue dots will not show through to the other side. Be sure that you ONLY use the glue dots in this area as it WILL show through in the other areas.

Now you are ready to finish your card as desired!

All I did was stamp a greeting in the bottom right corner with Staz On ink, add some white ribbon around it and then added some yellow stickles to the middle of the dry embossed flowers. I also rounded the corners of the cardstock vellum and added some white dots to the corners with my gel pen.

I hope that you've enjoyed my tutorial for today and you still have a FULL week to play in the Inchie Challenge with us!! So please join in! Don't have a blog? That's fine, you can load your creation to the SCS gallery using the keywords: DRSC1 so that we can find them and leave you a comment! Have a great day and I hope you can come check out my other DRS Designs creations on my Stamped Smiles blog!
